- RuffRidr, on 05/30/2008, -2/+2He couldn't even coach Jordan. Is this supposed to be a good thing?
- Khanvalescent, on 05/30/2008, -2/+2Good point, but it should be noted that was young Jordan and the bulls didn't win a Championship with Phil Jackson until 91. Which may be just as attributable to an aging Pistons team.
- stgeorge, on 05/30/2008, -2/+2In other words, Collins couldn't win a championship with 5 years of Jordan. Jackson managed to win 6 championships in his 7.2 years with Jordan.
- magicjohnson, on 05/30/2008, -1/+1Thats fair. Collins had Jordan for his first 5 years in the L, while Mr. Zen had him for his prime, with Pippen etc.
- bacon_skoda, on 05/30/2008, -0/+1you mean with pippen.
everyone knows pippen was the key

- orthodoxDrew, on 05/30/2008, -0/+1LOL at least the Pacers can start having better days now
- P0peRatz0, on 05/30/2008, -0/+3I never like seeing a team (especially MY team) hire a coach that didn't work out the first time around. It's always better for an organization to move forward rather than backwards.
Doug Collins was a nice enough guy, but the fact that Jordan wanted him gone says enough about his ability to coach in today's NBA, where it's all about keeping the stars happy and motivated.- pwr4, on 05/30/2008, -0/+1Actually, if you read the book "The Jordan Rules", based on the Bulls 1990-1991 and their history of MJ coming to the Bulls, it's a bit of a different story. The players grew unhappy with Doug Collins as a coach, especially his lack of emotional stablility, even crying from lack of stability. The players pushed MJ to get Collins fired, but he saw the backlash Magic Johnson faced when he helped get Paul Westhead fired a number of years earlier and didn't want to face the same backlash.
Doug Collins got fired because he went to the owner, Jerry Reinsdorf, and tried to get Reinsdorf to fire the Bulls then-GM Jerry Krause fired when they were having a dispute. Krause was very close to Reinsdorf, so he had no choice to fire Collins.

- lozzobear, on 05/30/2008, -1/+3I miss MJ. That's all, really. What a guy.
- magicjohnson, on 05/30/2008, -1/+0I really wanted the bulls to hire the General, just so the nets couldn't be stupid and hire him themselves. Oh well...
- phydeaux70, on 05/30/2008, -1/+1He might not have worked out the first time, but he did a lot of the leg work that Phil Jackson took credit for. Jordan, while the greatest ever, didn't win on his own.
We'll see what happens....Doug deserves another chance if people like Larry Brown and Isaiah Thomas can continue to rape and pilliage their way through the league, taking millions and never doing a thing.- bacon_skoda, on 05/30/2008, -0/+1i've grown to love doug collins' analyst on tnt.
many times, he'll say..."the spurs will probably run this play here...manu will go here...."
then the spurs actually do the EXACT play he predicted.
all the other analyst are riding on their jokes.

- Ender008, on 05/30/2008, -0/+3Dugg for "according to a source."
Thanks for that... - trendy59, on 05/30/2008, -0/+2i say give the man another chance....just don't make them to do the chicken dance like they got SAC town kings cheerleaders doing.....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p90g3Ltc6no
man, they really have nothing to do out there.... - fucksports, on 05/30/2008, -5/+0oingggg....sports....hurrrrrrrrr
*****- kidathinnes, on 05/30/2008, -0/+1what the hell does that even mean you piece of ***** troll
- jankind, on 05/30/2008, -0/+3I like how he handled that on TNT last night. They almost never confirm or comment before it's on paper.
They usually just try to dance around it and not answer the questions. He just said that it wasn't official yet but he has his family's blessing, he's ready to coach again and they are going to talk more about it as soon as the WCF are over, which they now are. (Same statement as Paxson, for the most part) Sure this is just according to "a source" or whatever, but based on his demeanor last night, it's as good as done. - majordickhead, on 05/30/2008, -2/+1Who gives a *****... Jesus could become their coach and they would still be crap.Get over yourselves
- lattethunder, on 06/03/2008, -0/+1This means Derrick Rose will be the next MJ! Just like the LeBron and Kobe MJs that've come before him! What, are the Bulls that poor of an organization? Doug Collins?
- robertallen, on 06/04/2008, -0/+1Doug Collins was probably the best coach in the Pistons "Teal" era...which isn't saying much. He'll have another chance...but don't expect a big playoff run next April.
- miestersean, on 06/13/2008, -0/+1Not. Del Negro!
- buywowgoldz, on 07/31/2008, -0/+0go bulls!
