/s - inactive, on 06/30/2009, -2/+5Don't know if this was the right move. Once they brought in Iverson, the front office quit on being relevant for the short term and went after cap space. He seemed like a decent young coach who is learning the ropes, and he kind of reminds me a young Mike Brown (laugh all you want, he's a good coach). As good as Dumars has been, he has made a lot of big, big mistakes. The Darko draft, of course, is the major one, but the Hamilton extension is also a head-scratcher. They'll also likely go after Ben Gordon for big money this off season, and I'm sorry but an All-Husky backcourt of Rip and Gordon isn't going to win many games.
I think the rumored Ray Ray and Rondo for Price, Rip and Stucky was actually a very nice deal for the Pistons that they should have taken. - etx313, on 06/30/2009, -0/+2Sigh... really? Seriously?

- inactive, on 06/30/2009, -0/+2Why though? Hamilton's limited and signed for a long-term contract. I love Prince, but think Stuck's a bit overrated. At least with the Rondo deal you get a really good young piece to build around, and you get the cap space when Ray's contract comes off the books in the summer of 2010.
With Stuck, Hamilton, Prince and whoever they pick up this summer (Charlie V, Gordon?) I still think that's a mediocre core that's second round at best. They'd be tied up to long-term contracts for a team that would make the playoffs each year but not get far, and they'd flounder in the middle of the pack. - str1fe, on 06/30/2009, -0/+2Perhaps they should start consulting Kenny Holland for advice.

- inactive, on 06/30/2009, -0/+1The only one you can really rip him for is Darko. The other ones were mid to late first rounders, and those are always a gamble. You can go through the history of any good GM and find a few Gilbert Arenas, Boozer-type misses.
The thing about the Darko one is that any of the following 5 (maybe six if you include T.J. Ford) players drafted out of him probably would have been enough to give the Pistons at least one more Finals appearance. I think Stuckey is underrated. The Pistons made a mistake with Iverson. The ball runs through Iverson on every play, and that takes away from Stuckey running the point. I think they were off to a good start without Iverson, and were only treading water with him.
