Derrick Rose: Will #23 return to the Bulls? (PIC)
flickr.com — Will the Chicago Bulls select Derrick Rose with the first pick in the 2008 NBA Draft? We know Rose won't be wearing #23 - Michael Jordan's retired number - but will Rose become that Nike swoosh wearing, championship-winning, superstar Bulls fans have been waiting 10 seasons for?

- aqcarter, on 05/22/2008, -3/+14I hope he's the next #23, he basically a bad a$$ so far. Besides that missed free throw that lost me my office bracket in march... still a little bitter.
- Badandy127, on 05/22/2008, -1/+11MJ wouldn't have missed that free throw.
- quomen, on 05/22/2008, -0/+1623 is retired at Chicago, he WONT have it.
- IglooBurner, on 05/22/2008, -0/+3No one can replace MJ.
- sportscrzy33, on 05/22/2008, -1/+16Do the Bulls really need another guard though? I admit, Derrick Rose is as sick as them come, but I don't know if another guard is the answer they need unless they make some trades to get rid of Hinrich. Beasley might be the better fit for their needs.
- thelastcivilian, on 05/22/2008, -0/+3I like Beasley, but I don't understand the argument that they really need another big forward. You've got guys like Tyrus Thomas and Drew Gooden who are at least serviceable at PF (both in double digits points as starters), with Aaron Gray and Joakim Noah at C. Two of those guys were rookies, with Thomas only having 2 years under his belt. Are they already busts?
If you ask me, there's a greater need at point guard. This team failed to get going last year - isn't the role of the PG to run the offense? Hinrich is nothing better than decent - Rose would be an incredible upgrade. - slaystench, on 05/22/2008, -0/+2Kirk is most likely gone if the Bulls select Rose.
- walkingdogs, on 05/22/2008, -0/+2Hell yeah they need another guard. Heinrich is the king of ticky tack fouls and takes himself out of way too many games. He can't create his own shot and only averages 6 assists per game. He gets owned by big guards as well. Larry Hughes is a 2 guard as is Ben Gordon and Duhon can go as soon as possible. Just look at what Chris Paul and Derron Williams have done for their teams and tell me that Heinrich is acceptable.

- soupdawg30, on 05/22/2008, -0/+3We probably will not know for sure until at least his third year. It takes time to learn the NBA.
- Badandy127, on 05/22/2008, -1/+4Except MJ averaged 28.2 points per game, 6.5 rebounds per game, and 5.9 assists per game....as a rookie.
- soupdawg30, on 05/22/2008, -0/+3Even with those stats no one thought he would one day be considered the best player to play basketball.
- Badandy127, on 05/22/2008, -0/+5I'm just saying. Those are prodigal stats, and they really haven't been duplicated in basketball since.
But I do know what you mean. Kobe came into the league and was not dominant until three-four years in. Same thing with AI, and a bunch of others.

- jrspartan53, on 05/22/2008, -1/+31he should wear 17 for the 1.7 percent chance the bulls had of getting that first pick.
- wily6, on 05/22/2008, -3/+8Why does he have a mustache?
- MrsButtersworth, on 05/22/2008, -0/+9Why not?
- TheR3dMenace, on 05/22/2008, -0/+2Jordan rocked one
- prome05, on 05/22/2008, -5/+4It's gotta be Beasley. The Bulls haven't retired No. 30 yet, but they will if they get him.

- rukeypoo, on 05/22/2008, -2/+2Shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence.
- datboitom, on 05/22/2008, -4/+7Rose is the choice hands down. Chicago native, 2 time state champion, leads Memphis to the National Title, he'll be the biggest thing in Chicago since MJ.
- Badandy127, on 05/22/2008, -0/+0Dugg up for the reasoning. Chicago native is actually important I think, it would be cool for the city.
- curseoflou, on 05/22/2008, -0/+5"leads Memphis to the National Title"
u forgot "game"
- SimpleDiggName, on 05/22/2008, -0/+4I'm not sure if the Bulls would pass on a franchise point guard like Rose. Especially since the emergence of other point guard stars like Paul and Williams.
- rdubya44, on 05/22/2008, -3/+15The curse of Jordan...the NBA will never be the same.
- Gr1nch, on 05/22/2008, -1/+7Basketball is going the way of soccer. LeBron will never be MJ, and the fouls that made it a man's game will never return.
Basketball will only be a valued sport when the Spurs franchise dies out. Until Bruce Bowen and Manu Ginobili are out of the league the NBA will never be the same.- soupdawg30, on 05/22/2008, -1/+3Whats wrong with the Spurs?
- Badandy127, on 05/22/2008, -3/+1What isn't?
They're boring, dirty, and they're cheap floppers.

- joshcxa, on 05/22/2008, -3/+3#23 should remain retired
Unless he can lead us to a 3-peat again then i'll reconsider - j3rm1981, on 05/22/2008, -0/+23He may be good - but to say he'll be the next Jordan is like saying 'who's going to be the next Muhammad Ali?
Jordan brought something to the game that, incredible as it is, shone bigger and brighter than his incredible skill. He was a presence.
:-P The tongue FTW!- Badandy127, on 05/22/2008, -0/+5That's what she said.
- Badandy127, on 05/22/2008, -0/+5That's what she said.
- Elias1, on 05/22/2008, -1/+10It's unlikely he'll where 23 at all since both Chicago and Miami have that number retired.
- mddawso, on 05/22/2008, -0/+4wear will he be though?
- rrbest, on 05/22/2008, -0/+3ware are you?
- mddawso, on 05/22/2008, -0/+4wear will he be though?
- NickLindeman, on 05/22/2008, -1/+4Bulls already have too many guards and Beasley plays and shoots incredibly well inside and out which is hard to find any big man to do. Chicago should pick Beasley but either way they don't lose.
- slym2k, on 05/22/2008, -2/+17How about we see him play against Kobe, or any NBA guard for that matter, before we start saying he's the next Jordan?
- cnot3, on 05/22/2008, -2/+6He just needs to distract Kobe with supple young girls. They are his only weakness.
- fakeguy, on 05/22/2008, -1/+23After months of lurking I signed up just to say this...
Get that number off of him and don't even think of making that comparison again you m****f******. - AManOfLOP33, on 05/22/2008, -0/+1Rose has to be the right pick. Beasley might be as close to a sure thing we've seen in a long time, but I would take Derrick's IQ and character over a "sure-thing" any day. The Great Poohdini will revive Chi-Town.
D'Antoni is punching himself in the face right now for taking the Knicks job. And did anyone else watch Hinrich play last year? I mean I don't know what happened to him but they need to get him and his ridiculous contract out of there.- jaydoj, on 05/22/2008, -0/+1as a Suns fan, D'Antoni should be punching himself in the face right now, and for the remainder of his years. The Phoenix Suns will NEVER win a championship.
- victorh86, on 05/22/2008, -1/+1who will be the new rodman and pippen? seriously, he's no MJ or kobe.
- l31101, on 05/22/2008, -0/+0He's once in a decade type of point guard. Beasley is very talented and probably will be a better scorer, but Rose is a PG which means he'll be leading the entire team. He'll be making all the decision on the court, and from what he's done in his one year at memphis, he's a very special player. Very athletic, very smart, and excellent size for a PG. I can't wait to watch him play for the next 10-15 years.
- TheGooseyOne, on 05/22/2008, -1/+1Its true, they will pick up Rose. For many reasons, one of them being Kirk Heinrich, who in the span of one year went from the next John Stockton to total and complete garbage.
- schmiggyjk, on 05/22/2008, -0/+8Beasley:
+ 20-10 man for sure
+ immediate impact down low for a lacking low post offense
+ the bulls have been kicking themselves since losing Brand, and now have a chance to get another one
- Character issues, 6 high schools in 5 years, more of a me first guy
- the bulls have post guys who could mature into quality players: thomas, noah
Rose:
+ The hand check change in the NBA makes point guards ELITE
+ Has the potential to be Williams, or CP3, or better
+ Has been a winner at nearly every level he has played
- Jump shot needs work, will he need to be a prolific scorer on the bulls?
- The bulls have two point guards already, could get more trade value out of their bigs, vs. their guards
Tough tough call... I say Rose by a petal.- dksupremacy, on 05/22/2008, -0/+1Beasley is being to compared to Derrick Coleman in his young days. I also don't like Beasley's work ethic, I say Bulls take Rose
- epadafunk, on 05/22/2008, -5/+2he's pretty good, just look at this!

- jaydoj, on 05/22/2008, -3/+2Blasphemy, take that jersey off, you don't deserve to wear it.
- merlinxlr, on 05/22/2008, -1/+2I'm from Memphis - i watched Derrick every single game last season. He came out of HS and developed so quickly those first few games. He has a point guard court IQ that is rarely seen in college ball. Truly a phenomenal player. Best of luck to him.
- TheDude213, on 05/22/2008, -6/+1WHO CARES
- munjalm, on 05/22/2008, -0/+15Take that jersey off. No rookie deserves that number esp. on the Bulls.
- drizzlelicious, on 05/22/2008, -0/+10Let's stop calling people the next Jordan
- l33tpwnzord, on 05/22/2008, -2/+5this is bull *****
- Jenadae, on 05/22/2008, -0/+9Get that ***** jersey off of him.
- sniperkupid, on 05/22/2008, -0/+0While I still can't forgive him for breaking my Bruin heart, I gotta admit that kid can play.
- Blademan88, on 05/22/2008, -0/+1We need to trade a few of our vast amount of decent players to get a solid veteran inside man. Then take Rose and it could be a good next 5-10 years. At least I hope to hell it will be..
- Mattwdj, on 05/22/2008, -1/+3No way do the bulls draft him they already have like 8 guards or something.
- Apoy, on 05/22/2008, -0/+3Let him play the NBA first, then we'll see.
- jaalin, on 05/22/2008, -0/+0the bulls are in dire need of interior scoring, and with their overabundance of guards, i just can't see how they'd pass on beasley. dwade gonna have himself some ballhandling help, and marion gonna have himself a guy to toss him 20 alleyoops a game...
- JahRage, on 05/22/2008, -0/+5It doesn't matter so long as #24 is in L.A.
- mddawso, on 05/22/2008, -0/+1bulls are trading out of this spot. no chance they draft from here.
- Whiteknight117, on 05/22/2008, -0/+3There will never be another Jordan, no human will ever come close.
- TitanX13, on 05/22/2008, -0/+1it won't make a difference the bulls will still suck.
ever sense they lost phil jackson. it has been down hill for them - prkchpsndwiches, on 05/22/2008, -0/+310 years. Waiting for 10 years?? Big whoopie. In Cleveland the Cavs made the finals for the FIRST time last year. The Browns have NEVER been to the Super Bowl and the Indians have not won a World Series since 1948. I'll take to two three-peats followed by a 10 year drought any day...
- ngeloh, on 05/27/2008, -0/+0Lets not forget just on the other side of town in cub-land, we've been without a world series for 100 years
- vanzan, on 05/22/2008, -1/+1They already have a great PG in Kirk Hinrich. Also, Derrick Rose got some character issues. They need to go with Michael Beasley. That's what they miss and badly need.
- papipablo, on 05/22/2008, -0/+1They're going to give him Jalen Rose's old number so they don't have to print up new jerseys.
- jimmies, on 05/22/2008, -0/+1I'm really, really excited for the pick. Too bad the Bulls have had such a ***** draft history the last 10 years.
- Quick2822, on 05/22/2008, -0/+323 is retired. You will never see another Bull wear that number.
- Kamacurus, on 05/22/2008, -0/+223 stay retired
- sh00n, on 05/22/2008, -0/+2Hey, I'm the one who made the jersey switch. I'd appreciate if you leave the credit where it's due.
Want proof? It's right here: http://www.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?t=79133 ...
And for those of you who got offended by him wearing 23 I apologize, I made one with him wearing 25. The 23 was only done to fit the theme of the text I had and to hype up Rose to Chicago. #25 is here: http://www.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?t=79133 ... - funknjunk, on 05/22/2008, -0/+1I think they would be better off with Beasley. They're in dire need of a strong big man that can post up. They have plenty of guards already.
