- JNudda, on 06/18/2008, -13/+232Was great to see Garnett finally get one of his own.
- vbullinger, on 06/18/2008, -11/+189On behalf of all Minnesotans to all Bostonians: you're welcome.
- inactive, on 06/18/2008, -15/+172Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, and Ray Allen really deserved this...
The questions that they asked Kevin Garnett were completely pointless, let the man enjoy his dream come true.
ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!! - Vikaas, on 06/18/2008, -20/+130Yeah, if I were the Celtics, I would've lost twice to win in Boston as well.
- smitlet, on 06/18/2008, -13/+114Kevin Garnett's celebration was by far the best I have ever seen. ABC was struggling putting a camera on him because ever second word was MOTHER ***** and they were bleeping it out. hahahaha ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE
- thh204, on 06/18/2008, -22/+108Yeah Celtics!!!! Lakers didn't even try in the second half!
So much for Kobe ever being compared to MJ!
(yeah Rajon Rondo!) - tonyadam, on 06/18/2008, -60/+145Congrats Boston Celtic Fans! I am just happy the Lakers didn't win! =)
- zepher5150, on 06/18/2008, -5/+87Die hard Lakers fan here. Congrats to the Celtics. Celtics were just the better team..from start to finish. No excuses.
I hope next year we can give you a little more of a run for your money with Bynum. - kpaphysicist, on 06/18/2008, -5/+85Minnesota: Boston's farm team.
- formerteenager, on 06/18/2008, -1/+68oh, and thanks for big papi too!
- codyph55, on 06/18/2008, -44/+105Na na na na,
na na na na,
hey hey hey, gooood byyeeee!!!!
Celtics baby! - wkeown, on 06/18/2008, -4/+63I am so glad to see Kevin Garnett finally get a ring. You can see from the way he celebrated on the court after the game that he is one of the most emotional and passionate players in the NBA. The best part was when he hugged Bill Russell and said "I got my own!" It's an honor just to be from the same town as this guy. Not to leave out Ray Allen and Paul Pierce of course but Garnett's celebration was great to watch.
- Realnemesis, on 06/18/2008, -15/+72Kobe Will NEVERRRRRRRRRRR Be MJ.
Way to win by 39! lol, Congrats Celtics! - tonicboy, on 06/18/2008, -1/+58Yes, much thanks! And for Randy Moss, too, although indirectly.
- Fathom, on 06/18/2008, -15/+67Where can I buy my t-shirt that says:
ANYTHING IS POSSSIIIBBBLLEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!! - Lucas123, on 06/18/2008, -25/+75I teared up watching Paul Pierce hold that trophy. It brought back many old, dear memories.
I miss the cigar. This is for you, Red. - patriotsfan82, on 06/18/2008, -8/+54Don't be stupid? Did you see the game? The chant in the fourth quarter was so loud, The Lakers practically walked off the court and gave up.
- davdev, on 06/18/2008, -5/+46I think the only people who compare Kobe to MJ are people who don't remember MJ or are trying to sell advertisements. MJ was so far beyond Kobe could ever be it is not even funny. Not only talent wise, but also heart. Do you think an MJ team would have blown a 24 point and lost by 40 in two NBA Finals games, no way.
- Tokyosexwhale, on 06/18/2008, -2/+40All reporters' questions at the end of sporting events are flatout retarded. 'How did you feel now that you've just won the championship?" How do you think they feel, dumbass? They're happy and they probably just want to enjoy the moment with their teammates, not talk to redundant reporters....damn.
- Tokyosexwhale, on 06/18/2008, -11/+47Love it, and that Tony Allen alley-oop dunk at the end? Ridiculous.
- BrownBears, on 06/18/2008, -1/+36After a Lakers' victory over the Celtics in 2001, O'Neal pulled a Boston reporter over and gestured toward his notepad. "Take this down," said O'Neal. "My name is Shaquille O'Neal and Paul Pierce is the ***** truth. Quote me on that and don't take nothing out. I knew he could play, but I didn't know he could play like this. Paul Pierce is the truth."
- ike6116, on 06/18/2008, -10/+42THE TRUTH
- BigPapi, on 06/18/2008, -0/+31I'd have booed him just for pushing every single game to the 9 pm time slot, even on a Sunday, just to milk advertising dollars. Now I can finally get some ***** sleep! What a jackass.
- zhiryst, on 06/18/2008, -4/+33As a Masshole, I accept your compliment. douche.
- bigbadgoat, on 06/18/2008, -2/+28I'd argue the lakers never really walked on it!
- atb12688, on 06/18/2008, -3/+27The Lakers gave up in the 3rd quarter. At least I hope that's what happened. If they were trying to win, and got beaten that badly, then they aren't the team everyone thought they were.
- Lucas123, on 06/18/2008, -1/+25Err. They won their last Championship 22 years ago. What are you - 15?
- admdrew, on 06/18/2008, -1/+24You know, MN got screwed over either way. Damn Lakers leaving Minneapolis.
- bainfu, on 06/18/2008, -0/+22That and have Gasol play his game. Watching him and Rodmanovic was like watching a Junior Varsity Girls Basketball game, they couldn't freaking catch.
- raJeeb, on 06/18/2008, -12/+34lakers got BONETHUGGED
- Bender1012, on 06/18/2008, -5/+25Pierce as well, though in my opinion much more so.
- theotheragentm, on 06/18/2008, -4/+23It was nice of the Celtics to let some of the fans and children of the team members play at the end.
- george2gfm, on 06/18/2008, -5/+24As a kings fan, thank god
- Projektorboy, on 06/18/2008, -1/+19I realize the entirety of Digg isn't much for sports, but I figure there's at least once part of that article that should have perked you guys up.
"It was a group effort by this gang in green, which bonded behind Rivers, who borrowed an African word ubuntu (pronounced Ooh-BOON-too) and roughly means “I am, because we are” in English, as the Celtics’ unifying team motto.
The Celtics gave the Lakers a 12-minute crash course of ubuntu in the second quarter." - batmanz, on 06/18/2008, -12/+29The Lakers deserved to lose. As the Celtics got farther and farther ahead, the Lakers became lazy and stopped trying. That's bad sportsmanship, I don't care who you are, they should have fought until the end.
- Fathom, on 06/18/2008, -3/+20clearly you've never seen the fanbases. LA fans don't show up until the game's half over, and boston fans are all guys from southie named sully and moe.
- handler, on 06/18/2008, -1/+17"Michael Tafoya, you look GOOD."
- tekhna, on 06/18/2008, -0/+16Did you really need to bring that one up? That still stings a bit.
- smitlet, on 06/18/2008, -2/+18No I am all about the Celtics.. I was celebrating his victory you *****
- TheInfamousOne, on 06/18/2008, -2/+18Rondo had an awesome game. I wish they would have left Allen in for 1 more 3 pointer so he could have broken the record for most 3's in a finals game. He was on fire when they took him out.
All in all, great game for the celts, Glad KG and Allen finally got theirs. - rrasco, on 06/18/2008, -16/+31It is always good to see Kobe Bryant almost cry on national television. I hate that chump.
- Cglass, on 06/18/2008, -7/+216. Los Angeles Lakers .. $75,330,112
7. Boston Celtics .......... $74,831,989
They have nearly identical payrolls, so you can throw your blue collar tag out the window :D - NEUTRINO50, on 06/18/2008, -3/+17Boston Massacre of '08
- Emilio8605, on 06/18/2008, -0/+13These kids don't understand the aura and influence that Red imposed over the franchise and the league. If my Suns EVER win a title, the fans will feel the same about Jerry Colangelo even though he's not with the team anymore. I never saw Red coach, but I understand the importance he had to the Celtics. And for those that said 22 years isn't a long time, it is for a team that was used to being in title contention nearly every year. When you win so many in such a small time, 22 years is an eternity.
- cusoman, on 06/18/2008, -0/+13Truth hurts :( I suspect Adrian Peterson, Joe Nathan, Joe Mauer and the entire Vikings Defensive line aren't far behind in moving to New England... *sigh*, this is why we can't have nice things:
Kevin McHale.
Love Boat scandal.
Red McCombs.
The Pohlads. - jn1167, on 06/18/2008, -7/+20Probably from the Giants Store ;)
- saobrien, on 06/18/2008, -1/+14I'm not a huge basketball fan, but I was really glad to see KG win - and his reaction to winning just shows how it isn't all about the money for some of these guys. KG is a class act.
- XeroKool, on 06/18/2008, -2/+15KG is all about emotion. This is a man who truly loves basketball and you can see it in the way he plays. Congrats to him. It's about damn time he got a ring!
- cawpin, on 06/18/2008, -3/+16No, and neither did Kobe. He just ***** a lying whore.
- Netmindstorm, on 06/18/2008, -6/+18Yes, congrats to them although I was a bit confused when I tuned in mid game. I initially thought the Knicks had changed their uniform colors to Laker Blue and Gold
