- eqlou, on 05/04/2008, -16/+45you shouldn't be pushed to the brink of elimination by a sub .500 team. have fun with lebron in the next round
- mal1964, on 05/04/2008, -4/+30Got to give it up for the Hawks, Anyone think it was going 7 games?
- themagellan, on 05/04/2008, -5/+23I moved from Boston to LA 2 months ago. I rock a big celtics sticker on the back of my hatch in my vwgolf. It got keyed after the game today...
Good thing I painted my car with spray paint. Owned. - TobiasParker, on 05/04/2008, -1/+15Rondo got wrecked, that was a sick foul.
- stormgren, on 05/04/2008, -1/+14do you actually watch basketball?
- leethemanpowell, on 05/04/2008, -2/+14Am I the only one who thought the hawks jerseys looked like generic practice jerseys? That series was like the democratic primary, I just wanted it to be over.
- alexf, on 05/05/2008, -0/+11As a hardcore Celtics fan, I got to give a kudos to the Atlanta Hawks. Many people may not agree, but I don't think the fact that this went to 7 games was the Celtics being bad as much as it was the Hawks just being good at home. The team had a lot of heart and played the Celtics harder than they expected.
- mal1964, on 05/04/2008, -0/+11I see this comment on every sports story that makes the front page, Are you the same person?
- milocat, on 05/04/2008, -1/+10http://digg.com/sports
- dub2, on 05/04/2008, -14/+23good, my hopes for a celts/lakers championship is still alive!
- indraneel24, on 05/04/2008, -8/+16As much as I hate the Celtics (Nets for life) I really didn't expect them to lose. However, good luck defending the equivalent of 3 Joe Johnsons in LeBron.
- AHolmes360, on 05/05/2008, -1/+8Agreed - they also got a huge lift from shady calls by the officials - especially in game 6. anyone watch the replay of Paul Pierce's sixth foul with 4 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter?!?
- slaystench, on 05/05/2008, -1/+7simple shot? are you ***** retarded or just a nerd who thinks he understands basketball?
- inactive, on 05/05/2008, -3/+9Sports fans really need to ***** chill out. That's ***** I'd expect here in Red Sox/Yankees country (right in the middle), mostly coming from the Red Sox fans of course. It's sad that this rabid fandom exists over there, too.
- lingsched, on 05/05/2008, -0/+6people were predicting a sweep and the hawks took it to game 7. sure they got destroyed in game 7, but they put up a bigger fight than any other team that went down in the first round. the better team won, but you have to appreciate the effort from the hugely over matched hawks
- recover82, on 05/05/2008, -0/+5Ummm, no. There's two more rounds of playoffs before they'll face a Western conference team.
- threemagic, on 05/05/2008, -2/+7They were pushed to the brink by a young team that got an HUGE emotional push by their home crowd. Had you watched any of their games you'd see Atlanta was electric and it fed them. Boston showed in game 7 just how much better they are. That was an absolute beat down.
- BetterOffEd, on 05/05/2008, -0/+5That's because it's the PLAYOFFS. Seems to me that there was alot of "football *****" right around the draft and the super bowl as well. And then in late September, guess what? They might have alot of "baseball *****" as well. (Go figure)
. - xscinx, on 05/04/2008, -3/+7Bring on the Cavs. Well played by the Hawks, much respect.
- threemagic, on 05/05/2008, -0/+4their next opponent will be the winner of DETROIT / orlando
- recover82, on 05/05/2008, -1/+5That's *****. They beat every one of the Western conference teams during the west coast road trips this season and rarely struggled on the road.
- threemagic, on 05/05/2008, -0/+4Your comment is going down like your namesake.
- j1a1g1, on 05/04/2008, -2/+6imagine the backlash if the celtics actually lost?
- pixelate, on 05/05/2008, -0/+4Mike Bibby, is that you? Pick up the phone, your caddy is on hold.
- donkeyshow, on 05/05/2008, -2/+6Dear southerners & midwesternites,
HAHA, it must suck to be you.
Sincerely,
East Coast & West Coast. - tolbs, on 05/05/2008, -0/+4there have been Utah and Houston stories on the front page for sports the last few days...Just have to keep your eyes open :)
- threemagic, on 05/05/2008, -0/+4First: Joe Johnson is a lot better than he's given credit
Two: Atlanta has Horford and Josh Smith too... that's quite a bit better than Big Z, Big Ben, and Sideshow Bob
Three: Atlanta hadn't been in the playoffs in a while, they had an electric home court.. which is why they won any
Boston will beat Cleveland.. - tolbs, on 05/05/2008, -0/+4That wasn't even close to clean. Marvin is going to get suspended a couple of games I imagine...
- recover82, on 05/05/2008, -0/+3I've been watching the Celtics since 1997 when Rick Pitino took the head coaching position and this is by far the best team they've had since. This series went to game 7 for one reason: the Hawks are a much younger and extremely athletic team. The C's have struggled against younger teams all season. New Orleans, Charlotte are two great examples. They also played great against the Cavs this season and I think you'll be seeing them take that series in 6 and on their way to the Eastern Conf. Finals.
- pixelate, on 05/05/2008, -0/+3Would that include the days of the week where they each already lost to the Celtics?
Boston is I think 25-5 against the West this year (lost to Nuggets, Warriors, Suns, Jazz, Hornets). - ejhops, on 05/05/2008, -0/+3For those who haven't seen it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aigS_kxrePo
There is no way that could be considered a clean play. - Fooord, on 05/05/2008, -0/+3*****
- scheibs14, on 05/04/2008, -2/+5I ♣ KG
- tolbs, on 05/05/2008, -1/+4Hasn't done much? He earned his stripes last year scoring 25 points IN A ROW to beat the Pistons..... He's no Jordan yet but he's pretty damn good.
- UltraDavid, on 05/05/2008, -1/+4Man, UltraDavid, you are so right.
- Wendigo6x3, on 05/05/2008, -1/+4he was fouled you idiot.

LATimes already reported it! - RJLaframboise, on 05/05/2008, -0/+2I figured the Celtics would get the sweep, easy. Hopefully this series puts to bed any talk of a format change for the playoffs. If the lowly Hawks can take the Celtics the distance, I'd say they earned a spot in the post-season.
- alittleroy101, on 05/05/2008, -0/+2God I hated Pitino.
- uncommonwords, on 05/05/2008, -0/+2Garnett and the Timberwolves went to the Western Conference Finals in 2004. That is the third round, my friend.
- pixelate, on 05/05/2008, -0/+2Celts fan here too... I think it was a little of both. Celtics definitely took them lightly, the refs were terrible for most of the series, Atlanta's home crowd was insane, and the Hawks had young players not experienced enough to know they were supposed to lie down (I mean that in a good way). Game 7 was Atlanta's immaturity catching up with them as well as the Celtics finally getting the wake up call. I think it's exactly what they needed going forward.
C's were too good on the road this year, I expect much better from them in the next round. - broeks, on 05/05/2008, -1/+3Just don't count on KG to hit your clutch shot in the next series when you have a close game...
- indraneel24, on 05/05/2008, -0/+2Garnett was in the Conference Finals w/ the 'Wolves in 04.
- sreynolds148, on 05/05/2008, -0/+2As long as the Celtics keep winning at home ill be happy. I was at the game today and people were going crazy. After how the Celtics preformed last year....
- BetterOffEd, on 05/05/2008, -0/+2Yes. Please get used to a variety of different stories appearing on the front page.
(Please do it quickly so that you can stop making asinine comments as soon as possible. Thank you.)

. - justinx0r, on 05/05/2008, -1/+3I ♣ baby seals.
- dark1587, on 05/05/2008, -0/+2Die Spammer!
- BinaryDelt, on 05/05/2008, -0/+2Um...wrong again. If they win, their next opponent is the winner of the Pistons/Magic series in the Eastern Conference Finals.
- IHaveCrayons, on 05/04/2008, -9/+11Ugh I wanted the Celtics to lose so badly. I love seeing huge upsets and this was gonna be by far the biggest upset in the playoffs. The team with the best record versus the team with the worst. Gotta give the Hawks respect for their big heart.
- pixelate, on 05/05/2008, -0/+2Someone didn't watch Game 7. I think Zaza's teeth are still on the parquet somewhere.
Then again, Zaza looks like he's already taken a few punches to the face, doesn't he? -
