Cavs haven't face a team like the Spurs yet. The Spurs are a cohesive group unlike the Pistons (everything was falling apart towards the end). They're not one dimensional like the Nets who can't hit a jumper to save their lives and don't have a big man to pound the Cavs inside. And we all know the Wiz didn't have all their players (Jamison and Arenas).
Spurs have Tim Duncan who will pound it inside constantly and consistently. Tony Parker will drive at will and so will Manu Ginobili. The Cavs are a one man team and we all know that. - NgrHader, on 10/11/2007, -6/+14@trixnfx
They sure did, and beat them twice this season - trixnfx, on 10/11/2007, -11/+18Oh you mean those games that were played in the beginning of the season? I'm sure you haven't heard of S.P.A.M.
Spurs Peak After March. We all know they turn it on after the All Star break. Just wait... all of this euphoria for the Cavs fans will end soon.
Spurs are proven. Cavs are not. Fact. - aussieNickuss, on 10/11/2007, -33/+4Who friggin cares!?
Do you diggers care that Richmond had a draw with Adelaide yesterday despite them having a winless season so far, or that Bulldogs went down to the Blues by ten points and may miss their chance at the AFL finals? No.

Matt:) - masgrada, on 10/11/2007, -19/+4Man. Screw the Cavs. Detroit should have won. You only have the one turd burglar making any points. Thats not a team.

"The Cavs are a one man team and we all know that."
Game 1: LeBron James 10 pts Game 2: LBJ 19 pts Game 3: LBJ 32 pts Game 4: LBJ 25 pts
Zydrunas Ilgauskus 22 pts Sasha Pav 14 pts Sasha Pav 13 pts Drew Gooden 19 pts
Larry Hughes 13 pts A. Varejao 14 pts Big Z 16 pts Daniel Gibson 21 pts
Game 5: We all know what happened here... Game 6: LBJ 20 pts
LBJ 48 pts Gibson 31 pts
Z 16 pts Ilgauskus 11
Gibson 11 pts
That, to me (besides game 5,) is NOT a one man team.

- MrLazySmurf, on 10/11/2007, -10/+7I'm happy for Cleveland, they finally have hope again. Its great to see all of Cleveland celebrating the victory over the horrible eastern conference, enjoy this celebration because you wont have a NBA championship trophy to celebrate over anytime soon. Better stick with the Indians.
SPURS in 4 or 5. I just wish the Spurs would lose a couple just to win at home.
That series vs. Detroit was sickening to watch. It was horrible, Lebron is looking like Wade from last year, every time he drives to the lane its a foul even when he is untouched. I don't blame Rasheed one bit for being ejected, its a shame that the refs gave the series to the CAVS. They just better not do that kinda ***** in the Finals.
You could put any of the Western conference #5-8 teams in the Eastern conference and they'd easily be in the finals. - spiffywilco, on 10/11/2007, -4/+6@trixnfx
One man show? Were you watching the game last night? I must have seen a different one because Gibson was the one hitting all his shots...
cavs in 5. - satanatnmtedu, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3Rasheed should have been ejected for all his crying. I am surprised it took this long for him to be ejected. If you watched the games without a partisan eye, there were bad calls all around. James drove to the basket in game 5, Wallace hit BOTH arms with no foul called. I watched Detroit drive at the end of game 6 and got fouls called each time. So, all the crap about James not getting hit but still getting fouls called is the rantings of a partisan hack.
- trixnfx, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3@spiffywilco
So two games from an unknown player makes him a reliable person to put your hopes on? Do you even know what I mean when I say a "one man team"? The Spurs are going to clamp down on those chumps and won't give them those open threes.
Spurs in five. - Y2JCrisis, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2@spiffy & drunk & whoever says that Lebron isn't a one man team.
Yes. LeBron didn't get that many points in any of the games except game 5. Does that mean he wasn't the sole reason for the Cavs wins? Hell no. Of course the rest of the team was able to pick up the slack, you had two guys open at all times because LeBron commanded the attention of three Detroit defenders. You don't think that makes him the sole reason that the Cavs won? You're out of your mind if you think Daniel Gibson gets all of those points if instead of LeBron they had some other scrub even half as good as LeBron. Those losers would have a combined 0 points in all six games if it weren't LeBron being covered. Even if it were Kobe, the Cavs would have lost, because Kobe would have been taking those shots in triple coverage, rather than giving up the ball.
Another good trick that the Cavs pulled was dressing their bench up in zebra costumes and giving them whistles. After the first quarter LeBron had 1-2 field goals and led the Cavs in scoring. Guess how that happens. Lots of free throws. Meanwhile, LeBron didn't get called once for traveling in the whole series while he was running from the 3-point line to the hoop.
I hope nobody wastes time giving me foul comparisons for game 6 because the refs called fouls on the Cavs after there was a 15+ point deficit and only 3 minutes left in the fourth quarter, just for that specific reason.
Edit: Also, it was very odd watching the Spurs win a championship in the Eastern Conference Finals.

i wholly believe the spurs stole the series from the suns.
however, belief is not empirical evidence

We need this more than any other city. I can't really believe people are hating on the Cavs this much, especially after all we've been through.
(sigh) I guess people just live to bash sometimes.
And btw, BS at all the people saying the Spurs will win this. It's not all about LeBron here, the "team" will come through with a victory. I don't have a doubt in my mind.
- andrewtr89, on 10/11/2007, -16/+6Agreed...Spurs have got enough not to mention their cheap ass playing style.

- hassanchop13, on 10/11/2007, -10/+3When you complain about "cheap" playing styles, it makes you sound like a sore loser. It's like when, in fighting games, people complain about others being cheap because the hit the same button over and over. nobody is stopping you from doing the same, and if they were truly a bunch of cheap, talentless players, you'd think other teams would follow suit.

- bishop9226, on 10/11/2007, -24/+6David Stern is rigging the NBA finals to give Lebron James MJ status and save his sinking enterprise!
It is quite simple –
The Cavs can NOT beat the Suns under any circumstances. Stern wants Spurs to make it, makes sure that series is rigged. He has succeeded here. Then he rigs the Cavs series so he can get a future superstar some traction and ratings and go back to the old days of selling the NBA based on famous players.
Now the finals will be Lebron vs Spurs, Cavs will win in 7 games and Lebron will be hailed as the newest NBA superstar in the hopes that they can sell some more $150 sneakers to black teens whose parents only make $1500 a month and sell some more Gatorade to a 300lb fatso who thinks it is getting him in shape even though he doesn’t work out and doesn’t see that one bottle has 12 servings and each serving has 20g of sugar.
Sorry Stern, we’ve seen right through your bag of tricks this time. No one wants to see a bunch of 17 year old high school graduates who got 2.0 gpa’s (only that high because the coaches pulled some strings) play ball then go make rap cds, get caught with guns, or get accused of rape. The only reason we liked Bird, Magic, and Jordan was because they were professionals. True Magic was a sexaholic but he actually loved the game and you could see that in every game. Now all we have are a bunch of thuggish kids who only care about having a team that revolves around them and getting a bigger paycheck than the next guy.
The NBA is dead until further notice.- humpy, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7notice.
- threemagic, on 10/11/2007, -2/+8Don't forget the Spurs are the most popular team over seas...
So you have the team that's has the most popular foreign players (Ginobli and Parker) vs the "team" with Lebron (nike's golden boy and MJ2)..
You guys forget that the 3 biggest markets, LA, NY, Chicago were in an NBA final for 23 consecutive years...
Wade and Lebron both were given their conference finals wins.. the touch fouls have to stop. They haven't earned anything yet. - MrLazySmurf, on 10/11/2007, -8/+1NICE!!! WELL SAID "BISHOP". That is the truth and i don't care who diggs your comments down. You may have exaggerated about the Gatorade and 300 pound kids. The bit on a $150 dollar shoe is truthful, but you forget that its not only black kids who love those sneakers. I've been noticing that the younger generation of White boys/white girls are becoming the new age thugs, who speak with slang. 10 years from now, black people are the new white people. Just like that one movie where black was white, i think it had John Travolta and some other actors. Anyways.
GO SPURS. - bobcatred, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6@threemagic
"You guys forget that the 3 biggest markets, LA, NY, Chicago were in an NBA final for 23 consecutive years..."
And this is proof of a conspiracy? How about it's proof that those three markets had the most money to throw at the best players, so they won because they had *gasp* really good players?!
Biggest market = most money.
It doesn't mean good management though, so when management screws up and trades the wrong people, or brings in a weak coach, or what have you, they can kill a dynasty in no time. Any one of those teams could end up back on top with a few well-placed $$ towards a killer player or two and good management. - ChampCreed, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2David Stern became the commissioner in like 84-85 and in the last 23 years...
Lakers, Celtics, Bulls, Pistons, Rockets, Spurs, Heat (Fluke)
Not as much who won but who lost. You see in order for the NBA to draw in their ad revenue they needto have "balanced markets" compete in the finals.
Big Market vs. Big Market
Big Market vs. Mid-level Market
Big Market vs. Small Market
Never (since Stern) have you seen
Mid-level vs, Mid-level
Mid-level vs. Small level
ETC. ETC. ETC.
If you look at the losers over the past 23 years you'll see what market they fit in then you'll see how stern matches it up.
Although it's hard to spot when a game is thrown, referees manage momentum and can make favorable/unfavorable calls.
And you have to have at least 1 or two players in on the fix (pay them off to shut up about it)
Remember the game 7 of the Lakers series against the Portland trailblazers when they had like 7 all-stars on the team. Entering the 4th quarter the Blazers had an 18 point lead and although weirder things have happend watch the footage and you'll see a whole lot of missed and favorable calls. Not too mention a 26 foot three point attempt by Scottie Pippen with like a 100 seconds left on the shot clock in the crucial moments of the game.
Not to mention the Kings-Lakers series. If the Kings would have won that game six I believe they would have went on to play the Pacers...Too farmtown teams in a finals...NAH!
If anyone else remembers shaky moments in NBA history please reply....
I think Gilbert Arenas took a Dive this year so that the Nike Basketball Association could promote LeBron's I witness campaign.
- doubleblack, on 10/11/2007, -1/+21I still can't believe Boobie had more points in the 4th quarter, than James had all game...
That game was awesome, I'm definitely excited for the Finals! Or, maybe that's just because I'm from Cleveland - Drkboarder, on 10/11/2007, -8/+2So, when does Lebron's deal with Pampers start?
- geronimo, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3This will be pretty exciting, it will be superstar vs superstar. The reason why the Spurs play such good D is because of energy: they give Duncan the ball for offense while the rest of their players focus on D. Likewise, when Lebron is hot, the Cavs play great D since they have energy as only Lebron scores while his teamates rest up for playing D. This should be a great finals. Lebron seems to step up when his back is against the wall, the Cavs are facing a great team, so he should rise to the occasion. It's hard to say what will happen, no one expected Lebron could beat a team in the finals by himself.
- YuriSakazaki, on 10/11/2007, -18/+4***** lame, pro wrestling is more realistic than the NBA. I'm gonna get dugg down for sure, but I don't care, the fix was definitely in. Nike wants to see LeBron in the finals, that's all.

- NeonElixir, on 10/11/2007, -3/+9I'm from Cleveland and I'm ecstatic to see this go on, but I do agree that the Cavs probably won't win it all. But oh man... are we ever due to win a championship here!

- krakkinem, on 10/11/2007, -19/+10San Antonio kid here, and I can't wait for our fourth title! We know how to party, unlike some cities that start destructive riots when their teams win.
I'm looking at you, Detroit.- YuriSakazaki, on 10/11/2007, -3/+15We haven't done that since like the 80s :<
This is so disheartening to me, there's no way on earth we should have lost to Cleveland. We were the better team all season and for the first 2 games, we play better as a cohesive unit, we don't have any single player with a massive ego (looking at you, Ben and Shaq)... I guess the Cavs are just hungrier.
Wings got knocked out in the Western Conference Finals, now the Pistons in the east... all I have left are the Tigers, because no one cares about the WNBA (I didn't even know they won the title last year till last week), and we know that the WNBA team could probably beat the Lions at football. - toby34a, on 10/11/2007, -6/+3And, the Tigers are 3.5 games behind the Indians in the Central... and those two teams look like they'll be in contention for the AL Central/wildcard berth... hopefully, things are turning around with Cleveland.
This year could've been amazing, though, if Ohio State had won the FB/BB titles, Cavs win the finals, Indians win the World Series, and the Browns... well, the Browns don't suck (but they did have a good draft this year). However, I have a feeling that the Cavs will fall a little bit short (not yet mature enough for the Spurs, although I'm definitely hoping, and all LeBron needs is one hot teammate or just get pissed off) and who knows about the baseball season- it's too early to tell. - bigstinky, on 10/11/2007, -8/+1@krakkenem

SPURS will play Lebron 1 on 1 or zone, let Lebron get his points. Shut everyone else down!
The only way Cleveland has a chance is if their coach can out duel Povovich and his staff. I think not...
- MrLazySmurf, on 10/11/2007, -4/+5YOUR INSANE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Watch a little more basketball and quit living in dreamland. Open your eyes, Spurs can play any type of basketball. They don't play CAVS ball, hand to a Lebron, Kobe, or Arenas; where they score 40+ points with 13 for 35 shooting and get 20 trips to the foul line. SPURS will play Lebron 1 on 1 or zone, let Lebron get his points. Shut everyone else down!

SSSSSUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKSSSSSS! - bigstinky, on 10/11/2007, -2/+13As a Detroiter and Piston fan, I'd like to say congratulations to the Cavs as well as their fans for a great effort and well deserved victory over my 'Stones. Lebron is a force and you should all be proud.
That being said,
1. Verajao is the biggest cheat flopper I've seen since Peter Forsberg.
2. Will somebody please, please tell me what the hell is up with that fur circle on the back of Goodens' head?
3. There was no way that the Pistons were going to beat the Spurs had they won, so I'm going to say it now, you homers that honestly believe the Cavs are going to take the Spurs in five have no clue whatsoever. The Cavs are too fresh in this mix, they have not payed their playoff dues just yet. They go down in 5 and quite possibly will be swept by the much more talented, playoff savvy Spurs.
Go ahead slappies, flame on. It's all good. I make no excuse for the Pistons, they lost to a team that played with purpose and heart. I wish the Cavs luck, but no way. No way. Not this year.- bigstinky, on 10/11/2007, -4/+1"Stolen from Sheed"- Lovely.
Classic.

- Raz0rblades, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7I will admit I am neither a Spurs nor Cavs fan and I will be tuning into the finals this year. What really interests me is to see how Lebron will get the 'superstar treatment' against Duncan and others, to see just who is the better flopper between Manu and the guy that looks like side show bob, and most importantly to see if Bowen, who will be guarding Lebron, deliberately tries to hurt King James. Personally, I really hope whoever flops more (side show bob or manu) gets called out on it hard core by the commentary people.
This should be interesting, my prediction, Spurs in 5. - Nlewis4, on 10/11/2007, -7/+4I-O
The cavs are 2-0 during regular season against the Spurs
cavs in 6- niko8778, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4spurs had a losing record against the pistons from a few years ago, who were a much better team than the current cavs, how did that series turn out?
spurs in 5 or 6
with cavs winning either game 1 and thats it
or 1 and 5 - dRuNk3nIrIsHmEn, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Cav's in 5.
The 2-3-2 format works great for us.
We'll take one in SA and then all three in Cleveland.

- Drifter51, on 10/11/2007, -4/+1James must be on steroids...
- Mikkel04, on 10/11/2007, -6/+2All you spurs fans who think Cleveland is a one man show is severely underestimating the Cavs. Cleveland has some clear advantages in comparison to teams that the Spurs have defeated so far:
1) They are one of the best defensive teams in the league
(they have the lowest opponent 3pt avg in basketball, they have the most Rebs per game in basketball, and they have more steals per game, as well as turn the ball over less often than the Spurs).
2) Mike Brown used to be an assistant coach for the Spurs when they won a championship. He'll know what strategy they will employ and use that to his advantage.
3) LeBron James and Daniel Gibson: As we saw in games 5 and 6 of the ECF, if you don't double/triple team LeBron, he can't be stopped, and if you do, it's Boobie for 3!! The Spurs will have to find a way to stop this duo (which the pistons couldn't) if they expect to win.
4) Momentum. It's true that the Spurs are a veteran team who have seen the finals many times in recent years, but don't discount the determination of these Cavs to get a win. They will do whatever is necessary to pull this thing off.
I can see why people think, instinctively, that San Antonio will win this series. But when you look at the statistics of these two teams (as well as a number of the intangibles), I think that the Cavs have a very good chance of taking this thing. If the spurs don't respect them, they will end up paying for it.- tehbishop, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Sadly, in reality it will come down to how the refs call fouls like it always does. The game is seemingly not concerned with how many calls are shown to be really bad/incorrect in the replays. Those calls have helped and hurt teams and it doesn't always even out, so that apology for it doesn't really work.
If it's touch fouls where anyone within 10 feet of someone (Duncan OR Lebron) then that team is The Chosen One.
I'm hoping they call the game fairly loose, but not allow hack-a-thons. If they call it ultra-close then Lebron will benefit, if they call it too loose the size of the Spurs will.
Somewhere in the middle would be great for the game. - radda, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11) The Spurs ARE the best defensive team in the league.
2) Pop considers Larry Brown his mentor and teacher, but it didn't help Brown's Pistons any.
3) Bowen is a triple team by himself.
4) Momentum? Please. The Cavs are children compared to the Spurs' experience. I can see the Cavs going places in the future, and I can sure as hell see LBJ being the next Jordan, but they're too young. This will be a good experience for them. Losing I mean.
Spurs in 6.

No, it's not.

If that's not enough proof for you, I was at the game last night, and as we were all chanting "Boobie, Boobie, Boobie..." they spelled it in big letters on the JumboTron. So don't call us *****, please. Thanks.

- RWCheese, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3I guarantee LeBron won't be scoring as much with Bruce Bowen on his ass.. Spurs in 5..
- altidude, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I guarantee Bowen fouls out at least once trying to guard LeBron in this series. The spotlight is on Bowen's defensive technique. LeBron is the star of this series, not Bowen's questionable defense.
- ogleby, on 10/11/2007, -2/+0Headline should be loosely based on: "Lolcavaliers suck they only have one player!!!!11 lands 2/10 field goals in 20 point win over Detroit"
- CheckPlease, on 10/11/2007, -2/+0Is this the year David Stern introduces run-ins by players from eliminated teams, wielding steel folding chairs, and steel cage matches, or is he afraid that it might make the No Dribble League finals look a big staged? Congratulations, Stern, on giving the NBA the floppiness, dull nature of soccer while still making it look like a WWE pay-per-view.
