- Switch07, on 03/03/2009, -0/+34Good.
I don't care who you are, that's a fundamental rule of any sport. - flowingsphere, on 03/03/2009, -2/+32Melo's a bitch, plain and simple.
- bootykika, on 03/03/2009, -12/+29Did anyone else think this was an article about candybars?
- scoottie, on 03/03/2009, -1/+10More sports teams should do this to their players, especially their stars. You get paid amounts of money that most people cant even comprehend to play a ***** playground game. You provide entertainment but you don't provide anything close to what teachers, firefighter, etc provide for society and in turn should be thankful each and every second of your life you get paid to do what you do
- HappyHourChris, on 03/03/2009, -4/+11What a douche bag. There's no 'I' in team.
- mogglas, on 03/03/2009, -2/+8there is a "me" though, if you jumble it up...
god, I love House. - cRAYzed, on 03/03/2009, -1/+7Because of him, they lost 100-94
Serves him right. - AddiX, on 03/03/2009, -0/+6As much talent as this guy has, the reason no one talks about him with the top players in the league is because he is flat out selfish.
- Scrappy1850, on 03/03/2009, -1/+7Carmelo Nuggets is my favorite candybar.
- yepp296, on 03/03/2009, -1/+7This was embarrassing from a player that has been the face of his franchise and whose team has had a surprisingly good year although most of that is credit to chauncey billups.
- Tenlow, on 03/03/2009, -0/+5I thought it would be an onion article about caramelo and nougat that had been dropped on the ground.
- lowtolerance, on 03/03/2009, -1/+6Nothing worse than being suspended by the nuggets....
- roguewriter, on 03/03/2009, -0/+5Sorry, but so what? The coach is in charge. Carmelo Anthony doesn't decide when Carmelo Anthony should be or should not be on the court. If there's a ego or personality conflict, that's something that needs to be dealt with off the court, the only thing that Carmelo Anthony showed during his stunt is that people should make jokes comparing him to Rickey Henderson.
He's a player at the professional level, that does cause people to assume (incorrectly by the evidence) that he can act in a professional manner, and not like some high school primadonna. - mustang460, on 03/03/2009, -0/+5yea, I had to re-read that title a few times
- AlbionEikon, on 03/03/2009, -0/+5Only ONE game? If I were the coach, he'd be riding pine until he was suitably humbled.
- dancantone, on 03/03/2009, -0/+4Came here to call this guy an ass or douche wand too...The ***** tools we have in today's vapid, mush minded, entitled society!
And you weren't embarrassed just a little Caramello?
The coach and players should have drug his ass off in front of everyone to set an example of intolerance for selfishness and to expose him for the narcissistic child he was being. - Scrappy1850, on 03/03/2009, -4/+8NHL FTW
- RAT-Man, on 03/03/2009, -0/+3He's a douche.
I am surprised that George Karl is running such a tight ship up there however. - scottk59, on 03/03/2009, -1/+3@meilong
Oh my goodness!
You wouldn't dare! You are burying things I've Dugg! That is so cruel.
I am so upset. Just devastated! Digg is just SO IMPORTANT!
LMFAO at how stupid and trite you really just revealed yourself to be. Sadly, I think you are actually serious.
As for myself, I find you amusingly and amazingly stupid; but for our country, I am seriously concerned that there are such people out there in society who are excruciatingly dull and dim-witted.
I suppose I should not blame you, as you are a product of the failing educational system.
You must really have no life at all.
Does your mom know what you do all day in her basement... I mean, besides masturbating? - waluum, on 03/03/2009, -1/+3Caramello doesn't have Nougat! Buried as inaccurate.
- ScottMitchell, on 03/03/2009, -1/+3Such sentiment makes sense in a high school or even a college setting, but these players are getting paid the big bucks, fans are paying to see the stars play, and so on. If you were the coach and pulled such a stunt, it's likely the owner would can your ass and put his star back on the court.
- salinemist, on 03/03/2009, -0/+2There is an "I" in meatpie.
- ScottMitchell, on 03/04/2009, -0/+1@AlbionEikon: Your analysis is correct if the player is truly being deleterious to the clubhouse, but I don't think he was in this case. His adrenaline was up, he was playing well, and he wanted to stay in the game. He probably regrets his decision now, apologized to the coach and his teammates, and moved on.
Your point would be more in line if a player refused to enter the game (a la Stephon Marbury or Scottie Pippen in the 93/94 playoffs). - blacklilyninja, on 03/03/2009, -1/+2best headline EVAR
i know there are a few men i'd like to suspend by their nuggets. - perre, on 03/03/2009, -2/+3In other news, Chock Full 'O Nuts wrapped up too soon, leaving Creamy Filling wanting more.
- boozedrinker, on 03/03/2009, -0/+1Well he deserves it...an NBA coach is his boss. I know if I snubbed my boss, there would be consequences.
- jankind, on 03/04/2009, -0/+1I watch sports and I follow the NBA. I've heard this argument by quite a few people and I understand George Karl has an ego problem and also may cater to his scrubs over his stars (from what I have heard)...
So Carmelo was trying to make a point and be a leader or something? I'll give him that even though I seriously can't ***** stand the guy. But this is the NBA and coaches make mistakes all the time. Questioning that mistake in front of young players is only going to teach them to tune out the coach and not respect him. If Billups (and his leadership/maturity) wasn't thrown into this mix, this team would be done for. - horn4231, on 03/03/2009, -0/+1but the problem with that is fans pay alot of money for tickets to see the stars. nobody is there to see linas kleiza play. by suspending the stars alot of fans dont get their money's worth.
but, i still agree with you. alot of nba players act like douches....there's just not alot anybody can do about it. - partrow, on 03/04/2009, -0/+1Who gives a crap? ? ?
- AlbionEikon, on 03/04/2009, -0/+1Your concept is correct if it's the coach that's going off on some ego trip. But let's look at the facts. The player was out of line and needs to be disciplined. Not punished; disciplined. There's a difference. Also, keep in mind that owners are building a brand and they've got to protect that brand. They are, generally, going to own that brand longer than any player will play on that team, so they don't think short term. I've worked in the office for professional sports teams with major league players that even casual fans would immediately recognize and the owners that I've worked with recognize that the brand can lose value fast when you've got a rogue player who's poison spreads throughout the clubhouse and infects other players that are highly motivated and willing to co-operate and work together as a team. You simply cannot afford to have a rogue who won't play his position with the team if his actions are detrimental to your brand. Either he gets in line or you ship him out. 99% of the time, the player gets in line because riding pine doesn't give him the spotlight that he's worked hard to achieve. So, my comment stands... discipline isn't applied with an emphasis on duration, the emphasis must be to change the attitude. If the player can function again as a team player, he's back in the line after a game out of the lineup and I believe that 99% of owners would support this approach.
- jba68, on 03/04/2009, -0/+1here you go... a reason to love the nba... not
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123604299220015201 ... - LivingLavish, on 03/04/2009, -0/+0Melo's a Gangsta ass ni**a lmao!! I respect his disrespect towards coach Karl lol!
- TimTheSloth, on 03/03/2009, -0/+0There is an "I" in win...
- dronkmunk, on 03/03/2009, -2/+2Is it wrong that this comment gave me a boner?
- 2uantuM, on 03/03/2009, -0/+0+1 for reading my mind
- partrow, on 03/04/2009, -1/+1He was probably just too tired or too tall, or both, to come off the floor. It is hard for someone of that height to get up. That is why you usually see another player helping them to their feet. It is a serious problem for them.
- skipdog172, on 03/03/2009, -1/+1I don't think many players blatantly ignore the coach and perform this kind of stunt. So, I don't think "more sports teams should do this to their players".
- FakingFamous, on 03/03/2009, -9/+7what a J.O.
- keubs, on 03/03/2009, -6/+3I wonder how many digg commenters actually watch sports. If you actually WATCHED the game, you'd realize that he was subbed during a crucial part of the game, also while he was playing the best he had played all day. He was also subbed for a much worse player, who has been cold all season. Melo wanted to carry the team to a victory, but was held back by a coach with an ego problem. Perhaps its time you all check your animosity for your high school quarterback at the door, and make educated comments, and not just opinions about people you're jealous of.
- shakabrah, on 03/03/2009, -7/+4but not a snitch.
- hufman, on 03/03/2009, -6/+3Well yes, chocolate candy should never be on the floor. Especially caramel, that stuff sticks to the floor like nothing else.
- scottk59, on 03/03/2009, -7/+2jba68 is a douche.
Buried - inactive, on 03/03/2009, -7/+2He just wants to play! you can't suspend a player for wanting to play for you!
- inactive, on 03/03/2009, -6/+1You're a douche... buried everything you Dugg and Digging everything you bury.
- jba68, on 03/03/2009, -21/+10Who Cares... NBA FTL.
Buried - Garthquake10, on 03/03/2009, -16/+2Keep on playing Melo, you sign George Karl's check
