- alexhud, on 05/23/2009, -0/+8He ran the team like an idiot, they've been in the bottom of the league in payroll in each of their five seasons. You have to spend money to make money, I hope he sells it to someone with some brains.
- K4Lic0, on 05/23/2009, -0/+4It's about time, being a Bobcats fan, I was never happy about the way Bob Johnson ran this team. Michael Jordan would be the best choice to purchase Bob Johnson's part of the ownership. They're already in the right direction, as long as we keep Larry Brown around, you'll see us as a force to be reckoned with in the NBA in a couple short years.
Just to clear things up, Michael Jordan is already part owner of the team, Bob Johnson is selling his majority. - K4Lic0, on 05/23/2009, -0/+4I live in North Carolina and have no affiliation with any other NBA franchise, I'm also a Hurricanes fan and a Panthers fan, but most of all I'm a Tarheels fan. I do actually have association with UNC, most of my family has graduated from there.
- bmatherlyjr, on 05/23/2009, -0/+4Jordan would definitely shake things up in the front office, my only fear as I always have when former players come back to play boss is they do what is perceived to be popular by the "fans" and not necessary what is best for the team. I don't think I have to recall a certain Piston great who thought he could coach, but I would hate to see Jordan flip through his roladex and call up Pipen, Paxton, Cartwright, or do I say Rodman and give them the reigns. Okay, I'll concede that Pipen, and Paxton might not be bad choices, but god help the Bobcats if Rodman was given the nod, then again maybe this is the foot in the door (or a kick in the ass) Rodman needs to get past his demons.
The one team that is dreading this Jordan's interest has to be the Lakers, sure they have Phil Jackson until next year (baring another contract extension) but assuming that Jerry Buss and Jackson can't come to terms beyond the 09-10 season, don't be surprised if Jordan (assuming he assumes majority stake in the Bobcats) doesn't make a play for Jackson given their history.
This isn't to say that Larry Brown hasn't done a good job turning the club around as previously noted by "K4Lic0", I just think that if Jordan had the opportunity to bring in someone like Jackson, he would and that would definitely shake things up in Charlotte. Would he remove Brown? Mostly likely not, he would as long as the team stays on course and improve he would allow Brown to coach the remainder of his contract, and at that point I would think changes would be made. Call me nostalgic but I wouldn't completely rule it out.
It'll be interesting to see how it plays out nevertheless. - Barackalypse, on 05/23/2009, -0/+4According to Forbes Jordan brought in $45 million last year, mostly in endorsements from Nike, so I wouldn't worry about his finances.
- 3tcp, on 05/23/2009, -0/+3It takes time for a new franchise to attract a loyal fan base and to find the key players that it needs to build a good team around.
- inactive, on 05/23/2009, -0/+3Why are you a Bobcats fan?
- rocketman42, on 05/23/2009, -1/+4"35-47 record, the best in the franchise's five seasons."
No wonder people don't watch their games. - Pake, on 05/23/2009, -0/+3It would be one thing it Charlotte never had a basketball team prior to the Bobcats, but Charlotte had the Hornets and showed that it hasn't care for a professional basketball that much since the mid 90's.
- krahzee, on 05/23/2009, -0/+21) The product is bad. They didn't make the playoffs this year, or yet in their history. People do not show up to watch turds.
2) Let's be honest, it wasn't exactly a major market when the Hornets left either. They WERE somewhat decent and struggled to make $
3) Then throw in a ***** economy, where the companies that would advertise are not doing so in any kind of number and of course he's losing $ - thurows, on 05/25/2009, -0/+1City couldn't support the Hornets, can't support the Bobcats, I know lets dump more money into the franchise.
- inactive, on 05/23/2009, -0/+1I'm from New York, and unfortunately, I'm a Knicks fan. All I have to say is, hang in there buddy.
Brighter days will come. :( - gregb0b, on 05/23/2009, -0/+1Amazing Jordan still has money considering his wife took him for $168 Million!
Jordan > Lebron > Kobe imo - jawni, on 05/23/2009, -0/+1Hornets were my team of choice on NBA Jam, my how they have fallen.
- randumbusername, on 05/23/2009, -0/+1didn't know juanita got that much. damn!!
- Barackalypse, on 05/23/2009, -1/+1On the flipside, the second lowest payroll team in Major League Baseball made the World Series last year:

- chamorro, on 05/23/2009, -0/+0Start winning more games, make the playoffs, how do you do this? Get a decent big man to fill up the middle, trade injury prone and score first player Gerald Wallace. Okafur is a solid consistent 10-10 PF, Diaw is a good sf with guard skills, Augustine and Felton decent quick young guards, Radmonivic is a solid 6th man that'll help spread the court, hopefully Sean May can lose some weight and play again. Unfortunately this years weak draft won't help them much but I can see them picking up another guard to help the backcourt, maybe pick up another big via free agency.
- mbraynard, on 05/23/2009, -2/+2No. This headline was the first time for me.
- sogleedy, on 05/23/2009, -1/+1The Bobcats need to be moved to Seattle.
- skylicious, on 05/23/2009, -2/+0I heard it in this week's One Tree Hill for the first time.
