- IUAndar, on 10/30/2009, -0/+29I agree with his reason for not attending. If he shows up, its not about any of the other inductees and it becomes all about him. He probably has a great deal of respect for them, especially for Jerry Yeagley, the 25-year mainstay of the soccer program. Plus, everyone that he holds a grudge against has left the university.
Let's think about it: If Bob Knight shows up at the induction, does anyone really care or give attention to Jerry Yeagley's SIX NCAA titles (out of 12 championship appearances)? - skipvt, on 10/30/2009, -4/+28He found out all the chairs are going to be bolted down to the floor.
- WiseBinky79, on 10/30/2009, -0/+9I was at the riots that went on out in front of the President of IU's house the night Bobby Knight was fired. I was walking to the music library to do homework when I heard an angry mob, I went to check it out and all the jocks were chanting, cops were in riot gear, and I crossed the Jordan River (not the Jordan River you're thinking of- it's more a stream than a river), and someone yelled, "They're throwing tear gas!" At which point people started running towards me to cross the river (I dont think there actually was tear gas, but there might have been)- luckily I was near the bridge and wasn't trampled, but a bunch of people were. I decided to leave instead of risk death or broken bones. And yes, this is a cool story, bro.
- Apostacy, on 10/30/2009, -2/+9He'll be sending a chair in his place.
- rwbrinso, on 10/30/2009, -2/+9Indiana's gone straight downhill since he left.
- ryan850, on 10/30/2009, -0/+6The argument could be made that they were going downhill a little before that.
- briLo, on 10/30/2009, -0/+6Yeah but Crean is turning it around; give them three years and they'll be what they once were.
- ToddIU03, on 10/30/2009, -0/+5Yeah, it was tear gas. I was there, got gassed.
- ToddIU03, on 10/30/2009, -0/+4I love Coach Knight, but the program was already in decline before he was fired. Coach Crean will turn it around though.
- CheckPlease, on 10/30/2009, -1/+4This is a lot of hullabaloo for a coach whose last title was in 1987 and whose last notable player to do well in the pros was Isaiah Thomas.
- diggbigwig, on 10/30/2009, -1/+4Good for him.
- Joemanji, on 10/30/2009, -0/+3That is SO Bob!
- ToddIU03, on 11/04/2009, -0/+2Nope. Love RMK, but Branch McCracken won 2 titles as well and his style which led to Indiana being known as the Hurryin' Hoosiers was revolutionary at the time. Everett Dean was also a great coach.
- Meesher, on 10/30/2009, -0/+2Or he is simply trying to put as polite a spin as he can on his excuse for shunning an event that he had no intention of attending anyway.
- Skinner72, on 10/30/2009, -0/+2WTF is that comment about Bobby Bowden? No comparison. Not Dugg.
- Ahmon, on 10/31/2009, -0/+1Dumbass. He doesn't owe anything to anyone (including the people who like him), but he could at least be gracious.
- ToddIU03, on 10/30/2009, -0/+1For a sports blogger that guy knows nothing about Indiana's HOF induction. The AD Fred Glass is going to try and hold a special night to honor Coach Knight and RMK is right. He would overshadow every other person inducted into the IU HOF including his friends Steve Downing and Jerry Yeagley.
- Victory33, on 10/30/2009, -0/+1Yeah, the national title game right after he left was pretty downhill.
- jiggawatt, on 10/30/2009, -0/+1, bra
- ryan850, on 10/30/2009, -1/+2oh of course, aren't we all... but did you read the article. Doesn't seem unreasonable to me.
- st0ney, on 10/30/2009, -1/+1cool story
- nharpe, on 10/30/2009, -1/+1I also got gassed, except I was down on Kirkwood. It was ***** out of control, in a good way. It is thanks to Bob Knight, and Bob Knight alone, that Indiana was in the top 5 on the list of the greatest college basketball programs of all time.
- alex2dvd, on 10/30/2009, -1/+1I am shocked
- chrisjr1416, on 10/31/2009, -2/+0Bob Knight is great. I don't blame him and I don't think anyone should. He isn't happy with Indiana, and nor should he be. I bet Indiana regrets every day the decision to fire Bob Knight. They let one of the best coaches of all-time go, the main reason their program isn't what it used to be
- nahsrocketeer75, on 10/30/2009, -14/+9A jackass to the bitter end.
