- Seekness, on 01/23/2009, -0/+8Can't say I blame him. I'd wait for a more appealing job.
- DreamVsPs2, on 01/24/2009, -0/+6They traded Gasol for Kwane and a 2nd rounder. Nobody should coach with management like this.
- gametavern, on 01/24/2009, -0/+5Avery Johnson? From Halo?
- kgates99, on 01/23/2009, -0/+4Well see that's where I disagree. I would think that Avery J would won't to prove that he is a quality coach and not just a coach who inherits a good team. It's obvious that during the last playoff series between Nelson and Johnson that Don did not leave all the plays in the notebook. Golden State simply knew exactly what Dallas was doing, either that or they called "Ms Cleo" and we all knew she was a fraud (hint hint). So why not come to Memphis so your great coaching skill and then ride off into the sunset. I am not from the Hubbie Brown era of coaching (I was under 10 when he was active). However, he came in here and showed that he can coach. Even after being removed from the game he still implemented his system and got players to buy into it and show us how to win. Now to me that's coaching and now when I see Hubbie on ABC I listen b/c I know he knows what he is talking about. So Avery while you are waiting on the right job I hope the Grizzlies pass you by.
- never102, on 01/24/2009, -0/+3Oh Grizzlies, I'll always think of you as being from Vancouver
- MrZop, on 01/24/2009, -0/+2Holy Crap! the Grizzlies aren't in Vancouver anymore?
- aufte, on 01/24/2009, -0/+2I remember those days.
- Claudia21184, on 01/24/2009, -1/+3I love Avery Johnson
- ZeeZee2k, on 01/24/2009, -0/+2They traded Gasol for a cheaper Gasol
- Gorgonzola44, on 01/24/2009, -0/+2With Mayo, Gay, Marc Gasol, Warrick, and Conley (who's shown that he's at least competent at some times), I would think a good coach could turn them into a contender within a few years.
- rynsa, on 01/24/2009, -0/+2The Grizzlies aren't in Memphis either. They actually house the team in an old school bus and just push 'em around to arenas where REAL basketball teams play. No self-respecting American city would claim those guys.
Subsequently, Avery Johnson is still on the market. I think my grandma turned them down, too. - matlock, on 01/24/2009, -0/+2Worst management team in the NBA. They were the only ones to touch Darius Miles with a 10-foot pole. Nuff said.
- ncavet, on 01/24/2009, -0/+1Avery Johnson - is there a voice that DOES NOT match the person more than him? Its so funny everytime I hear him talk
- frontaxle, on 01/24/2009, -0/+1I remember $12 tickets and Big Country Reeves. Farewell.
- Sifor22, on 01/24/2009, -0/+1I was thinking the same thing!
- Mattwdj, on 01/24/2009, -0/+1The problem with the grizzlies is the owner sucks and wont spend any money. They are going no where.
- spud387, on 01/24/2009, -0/+1Being from Vancouver it still amazes me that after all these years the organization is still so bad. The team moving wasn't b/c the city couldn't support it (the major fear when bringing a pro team to Canada), it was b/c the team couldn't manage a single season with a record above .300....
- spud387, on 01/24/2009, -0/+1Or he could coach the Grizzles, struggle as so many... err all... before being fired and decrease his chances of another job.
- someeat, on 01/25/2009, -0/+1Miles playing worthy of his 10 day contract. And they werent even the first team to pick Miles up this year...The 2008 Champion Boston Celtics already beat them to that punch. But Memphis is rebuilding quite well. They traded an above average center for a potential superstar OJ Mayo and in order to win a championship a team needs a superstar talent. Memphis is smarter than you think....
- A21Lawyer, on 01/23/2009, -2/+2He probably is best to wait but on the other hand, he might not get a better chance again. I would like to see him on the sidelines so I don't have to listen to him on TNT anymore!
- merrickx, on 01/24/2009, -1/+1How Johnson is he?
- Bloodwine, on 01/24/2009, -1/+1Lucky for them Memphis is not a self-respecting city.
They are trying to whore out one of their few landmarks to Bass Pro Shop.
Their city government is about as crooked as you can get.
The local utility (MLGW) is about just as crooked. - prefekt, on 01/24/2009, -0/+0Big Country for assistant coach!
- wraiyne, on 01/24/2009, -3/+2doesn't anyone remember?
Sergent avery johnson died on the ark.
343 guilty spark killed him?
it was like the saddest momment of that whole war for me
