True, it is a generalization. Girls hit puberty first, and the sporty ones, on the average, are faster, taller, and overall BETTER than the boys, hands down. When they DO hit puberty, GUYS get bigger and stronger, to the point that the girls could get injured. Sexism has nothing to do with it. I saw a U-13 soccer game, where a girl got put in with the boys because she was "too good" for the girls. She proceeded to destroy the guys, and you could see how much it hurt them, all while her parents stand there and talk about how it just goes to show that the whole separate teams thing is sexist.
Just push her up an age group, jackasses. Or does your girl just not sufficiently slaughter people who are her own size and speed? 2.) boys are afraid to play to aggressive with her and then it is not as competitive.

What is the problem with her playing up to the girls high school team? If she's to good for that then oh well. You think Lebron James or Michael Jordon didn't embarrass teams when they were in high school. 1. Physical girls get away with a whole lot more than physical guys.
2. If a guy schools a girl, he looks like a jerk.
3. If a girl schools a guy, he looks like a failure.
And that was a high school league. The kids in the article are right in the middle of the most awkward time in their lives. All the girls have become giants compared to previous years, and the guys are just starting to have those hormones pumped into their system.
This isn't to say that it was necessarily right to kick the girl out. His junior and senior seasons were good, but he didn't become the incredible, dominating force he was until he entered the NBA.
You also need to realize that all of those "problems" with playing on a boys team are false generalities. You make the assumption that "boys" will look at her and say "oh no, a GIRL, I could never touch a GIRL on a basketball court, even if she is making me look like a complete idiot". Try giving these athletes a little credit: when you look at co-ed sports boys and girls tend to play just as hard against each other as they would against the same sex. In the majority of cases, boys to not take "*****" for fouling a girl, they are not afraid of being aggressive, and the play would be just as competitive as it would be if a talented boy were on the other team. What you state in this post is a bunch of crap that the misinformed spew when this story re-appears (it is over a year old).
BTW, the problem isn't that she got kicked off a "BOYS" team, the problem is that she got kicked of "A" team for being "too good". Her parents are upset that the organization won't let her play on ANY team, boys OR girls. This really isn't a sexism issue, the media is just perpetuating that myth. - cameldung, on 09/13/2008, -0/+2I have seen this sort of thing happen a few times where a girl fights to be put on a boys team due to a lack of competition in the girl league. However, the expectional girl does not get put on the elite boy teams, she gets put on a intermediate boys squad. She pisses off boys who are already struggling to make the elite team. Its just a bad situation because it creates bad vibes - some boys get further discouraged and some parents spread hate. It's nasty. I'm all for just keeping boys with boys and girls with girls. People suck...deal with it.
