- jesburger, on 11/06/2009, -0/+32"crossed three lanes of traffic to reach the vehicle and check on the condition of its passenger."
Anyone here ever cross a highway on foot? Scary as *****! - MatzahMan, on 11/06/2009, -0/+32That's what makes a good human being. Despite his high social status and enormous wealth, he still tries to help those in need. High five Girardi.
- generaleet, on 11/06/2009, -0/+28CLASS.
- jdeane, on 11/06/2009, -1/+25Seriously, that was the post you decided to make?
Dick. - Jeff901, on 11/06/2009, -0/+13I stopped 3 lanes of interstate traffic zig-zaggin as a rolling traffic block after a motorcyclist dumped his bike at 70 MPH....Traffic stopped 30 or so feet from where the person stopped rolling
- yaysanta, on 11/06/2009, -0/+12As a diehard Red Sox fan it's very, very hard for me to say this. But yeah, he's a good guy. (Oh god, what have I said?!?)
- WinkyMcGee, on 11/06/2009, -1/+12Dear Diary,
Today I became the coolest man alive... - Gndoab, on 11/06/2009, -0/+10you've admitted to being a red sox fan.
- tryshalosh, on 11/06/2009, -8/+17He wouldve been a real douche had he not helped World series or not.
- k1erkegaard, on 11/06/2009, -0/+8There are some extraordinary people in the world.
- ileftfark, on 11/06/2009, -2/+9Umm... hate to break it to you...
- FormerBabby, on 11/06/2009, -2/+8Joe is the only dude on that whole team that I like....well Posada is good guy too.
Also, http://instantboss.org/ - Miamisun, on 11/06/2009, -1/+7Nice Story.
- MrBoog, on 11/06/2009, -1/+7Is there anything this guy can't do? (Other than manage a bullpen)
- Doubledown, on 11/06/2009, -2/+7He has a 4 month vacation right now
- Thebruce88, on 11/06/2009, -0/+4He's the on-field manager, not the payroll manager... they give him players, and he wins with them.
- WiseGuy1020, on 11/06/2009, -0/+4Die a slow and agonizing death.
- am12345, on 11/06/2009, -0/+3Former Marlins Manager, Joe Girardi. Good going.
- btour99, on 11/06/2009, -2/+5They're gonna win in 5 right?
- WiseGuy1020, on 11/06/2009, -0/+3"not through money"
I guess you and me were not watching the same Yankees. - netant, on 11/06/2009, -0/+2Actually, I thought Girardi's bullpen management was significantly better than Torre's. He seemed to get more out of it, and not burn out the talent. Why the bullpen melted down once the Yankees hit the playoffs is a mystery, but without a good working theory, you can't merely blame it on Joe.
- tzvika613, on 11/08/2009, -0/+2It's a human interest story. The sports world had its eyes on Joe Girardi and he did something that was good. Maybe he will set an example for others. I'm sure he didn't arrange for press coverage. (If someone on the Yankees had been arrested for soliciting a prostitute, that would be in the news too.)
- netant, on 11/06/2009, -0/+2Yet again, another Yankee comes through in the clutch.
- Thebruce88, on 11/06/2009, -1/+3What's wrong with Swisher, Jeter, and Rivera?
- ace429k, on 11/06/2009, -0/+2I hate the Yankees...but they played damn good. Good for him. I tip my hat to you sir.
***** you Leland. - Arseny89, on 11/06/2009, -0/+2You guys should really get someone to proofread this ***** for you.
- WiseGuy1020, on 11/06/2009, -0/+2Tough not to find a former Marlin on any team. Feels like we are a goddamn AAA farm team.
- NYConcepts, on 11/06/2009, -1/+3He's a Yankee, what did you expect?
- Maddoktor2, on 11/08/2009, -0/+1Because celebrities should never set good examples, right?
Idiots. - beautifulady, on 11/08/2009, -1/+2There is a moral prerogative that is greater than any implied social or economic division, that being to help someone who is in need if we are able to do so. Is this rich and famous person being congratulated for doing something he should have done whether he was rich and famous, or poor and ordinary? If so, why is this news?
- bodegit, on 11/06/2009, -3/+4why does he look like a shrunk headed monkey in this picture?
- sonofarex, on 11/06/2009, -0/+1is anyone else having flashbacks from the Simpsons episode with the house fire and the woman wanting her furniture arranged correctly on her front lawn? i can't remember which player it was
- JCH897, on 11/06/2009, -2/+3Not to discount or brush off his act of kindness, but if you saw a car flip on the highway at 3 am and /didn't/ do anything, that would be real dick.
- fadetoone, on 11/06/2009, -0/+1In some places, that's illegal.
- mishabear, on 11/06/2009, -0/+1buried so I don't have to keep looking at this filling my screen. Next time, keep it smaller and you may not get buried. You just piss US off instead.
- beautifulady, on 11/08/2009, -0/+1Indeed. The problem is that people put sports figures on a pedestal already, as though they deserve to be there. If one does something any decent person would have done, it gets in the news precisely because the sports figure is famous already.
- iBleeedOrange, on 11/06/2009, -0/+1...because they don't have showers at yankee stadium
- johnwayne1, on 11/06/2009, -0/+1Seriously, great story. But what's up with the shrunken head in the pic?
- rrwest, on 11/06/2009, -0/+1I believe a medal is in order here, regardless of his salary or status.
What do you say, Diggers?
Its not everyday that anyone crosses a busy road to help a stranger.
And that person is not just "anyone" for doing it.
Good on 'im! - iBleeedOrange, on 11/06/2009, -0/+1haha I love how you said "in short" then took up 66 lines (yes i counted them)
also digg underground? lol you joined in 2008.
thank you very very very very very much for giving me a good laugh, mr troll - brainboy7777, on 11/06/2009, -0/+1There was a lot more animosity between the bosox and the yanks before 04. I miss those days.
- ravens32681, on 11/06/2009, -0/+1It does look like he has a shrunken head. Very strange picture, but mad props for Girardi for helping someone in trouble. Good manager, good guy overall.
- holzp, on 11/06/2009, -0/+1You are the best of AAAA baseball + Handley.
- gkiltz, on 11/06/2009, -0/+1Only proves he's human!
- Parrappa, on 11/06/2009, -4/+4Yes, such as winning a world series through a farm system and not through money.
- blumer, on 11/06/2009, -1/+1Girardi has always been one of the best guys in all of baseball. I just wish he hadn't gotten mixed up with those Steinbrenner boys.
- Riggs28, on 11/06/2009, -0/+0photoshop
- AbuQutaita, on 11/06/2009, -3/+2How is this even a story? Someone rich and famous helped someone several levels below his salary. Society should have expectations that nullify this story being even remotely interesting.
- Riggs28, on 11/06/2009, -1/+0Give me 3 billion dollars worth of players I'll ***** win with them and I wont even bother traveling around with the team... i'll phone that ***** in.
