- FreshHaikus, on 07/15/2008, -0/+1haha no one is sad to see shea stadium being torn down....not even mets fans
- FreshHaikus, on 07/15/2008, -0/+1um, actually the thing with a huge stadium built in the 1920's on the cheap is that a hundred years later it starts breaking down a bit. You know there were huge renovations in the 1970's right? and that it is now deteriorating at a point where in the near future it would be more expensive just to maintain the current stadium (safely) as opposed to building a new one? no of course not, you just want to complain about something. besides, the new stadium looks great so far, just like the old one did before the renovations...monument park is moving its just one block over not a lot ot be upset about.

- Bluemandrew, on 07/15/2008, -2/+2Hahahaha! Burn it down!
- cadmiumpaint, on 07/15/2008, -3/+3once the Yankees tear down the house that Ruth built, they'll have their own 86 yr curse to deal with.
- screamingjoker, on 07/15/2008, -2/+2Remember, not one single Yankees fan actually wanted a new stadium. Ownership is selling nostalgia for "the old stadium", and trying to cash in on the manufactured excitement of a new stadium. But really, with renovations, the good old stadium could have lasted decades. But ya know ...capitalims trumps historical significance in America, especially in NY. Every great stadium, theatre, colesium in the vicinity has been demo'd usually to make way for shopping.

- wsuvtx, on 07/15/2008, -2/+1Buried for being about New York. Plus nobody but George wants it to go.
- SreyaNotfilc, on 07/15/2008, -1/+0Well the beginning of the end happened a few years ago where parts of the bleachers fell from one level to another. Basically, Yankee Stadium was an accedent waiting to happen. I believe it was built in about 3 or so months (maybe a bit more), so it was a miricle that it had lasted this long. To counter this, the organization decided to create a new one instead of taking the time to invesigate every nook and cranny of the stadium to see how to fix it. It is sad. I mean, can you imagine Fenway and Wrigley to be replaced? Those are historic ballparks, and a part of Americana.
- tahcoboy, on 07/15/2008, -3/+1what are you talking about it already began lol
