- FirstCuts, on 07/23/2009, -0/+229That catch to rob the HR and juggle the ball was ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE! I thought it was over for sure.
- Rudymoman, on 07/23/2009, -7/+161Probably the rarest feat in professional sports. Congrats Mark!
- gianttoolbox11, on 07/23/2009, -1/+92Mark Buerhle: MLB leader in quality starts and IP since 2001, has a world series ring, a no-no and now a perfect game! And, he's a classy guy to boot.
One of the best pitchers of the decade. - KrisStrong, on 07/23/2009, -3/+58Why do records ALWAYS seem to get broken against a Tampa Franchise?
- Stap1eGun, on 07/23/2009, -4/+57Unassisted triple plays are rarer actually, but perfect games are way more of an accomplishment.
- tpirfan28, on 07/23/2009, -3/+55Cubs fan here.
As much as I hate the southsiders, you cannot hate on a perfect game. Those are incredible. Kudos to Mark! - echolyean, on 07/23/2009, -0/+45Unassisted triple play - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=et5_hvVA0n0
- penguinhunter, on 07/23/2009, -0/+43Actually, that was the 18th perfect game. Not the 19th.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iIJiLCsT_MI - dmanmax99, on 07/23/2009, -2/+40I wish I could digg this 27 times. Onces for each batter that didn't get on base.
- DJDonkeypunch, on 07/23/2009, -1/+35As a Detroiter, I'm genetically predisposed to hate the White Sox but even I have to salute (and Digg) this! Amazing!
- iamthewalrus904, on 07/23/2009, -1/+32He has been very close to a perfect game before, I'm glad he finally got it. Way to go Mark!
- serif69, on 07/23/2009, -12/+41It's only been done 19 times in major league history. Truly a remarkable feat. Congratulations to Buehrle. Simply awesome.
- mdinitto, on 07/23/2009, -0/+27incredible defense late to save it
- hawksfan03, on 07/23/2009, -0/+24The unassisted triple play may also be the luckiest play in sports. What Buehrle did is far more difficult than an unassisted triple play
- PunkFenixJT, on 07/23/2009, -0/+23That was more than likely the best perfect game saving play in the history of the game. I was able to watch the David Wells and David Cone perfect games in their entirety, and seen many clips of others, but have never seen a catch like that to save a perfect game..especially that late with that much pressure.
Congrats to Buehrle, and the rest of the team for helping him get one of the rarest feats in the game! - wolfing, on 07/23/2009, -0/+23I don't believe in destiny, but the Manager's call to bring the center fielder who saved the perfect game as defensive replacement in that same inning, just, wow.

And since mlb.com will probably take down that video as well, here's the direct link:
http://mlb.mlb.com/media/video.jsp?content_id=5699 ... - DarthVolta, on 07/23/2009, -9/+31***** the yankees, forever.
- sonithjackke, on 07/23/2009, -0/+21I'm pretty amazed I turned the channel to the game right as Wise goes back to catch that HR. My jaw dropped flat when I saw the play, then I just stared the rest of the time once I realized it was that close to a perfect game. Go White Sox.
- jazzfunkblues, on 07/23/2009, -0/+21Buehrle is one of the true good guys in professional sports. I'm a lifelong White Sox fan, and he has been so underrated by everyone in the media for so long, but this really could not have happened to a better guy. Even the TV reporter that interviewed him for Comcast Sports Chicago after the game said that she, along with much of their crew, teared up afterward because it couldn't have happened to a better guy than Mark.
He is the most liked player on the Sox - both by fans and teammates - because of how humble and gracious he is. If you saw any of his interviews today, you'll see that from him. Sox fans everywhere are proud of you, Mark! - dcmcderm, on 07/23/2009, -0/+19And even with his resume he's still underrated for some reason - never mentioned in the same breath as Santana, Sabathia, etc. Go figure.
- PolkPlace, on 07/23/2009, -1/+19Great, great catch to save the day!
- slyphin, on 07/23/2009, -0/+17aye that catch was amazing, truly epic.
- DarthVolta, on 07/23/2009, -7/+23***** the yankees, forever.
- DeltaOne, on 07/23/2009, -0/+16That catch that Dwane Wise made in center to ROB the home run was one of the most AMAZING catches I've ever seen. To throw a no hitter, let alone a perfect game in today's MLB, especially against the defending AL Champs is something rare and special. Glad I got to see it happen. Congrats Buehrle!
- umbriago, on 07/23/2009, -1/+17Saw Buehrle pitch a couple weeks ago against Kansas City; OK, no big feat there (he won, who wouldn't?), but just watching him work is a pleasure. He pitches like his car is running outside: get the ball, throw. Get the ball, throw. I wish all pitchers worked like that.
- Slork, on 07/24/2009, -0/+15I blame the Eastern Sports Preferred Network.
- drunkCatholic, on 07/23/2009, -0/+15A perfect game is completely awesome, no matter what team.
- kgork, on 07/23/2009, -0/+15"Let's Go, Go-Go White Sox" was written and first appeared in 1959.
"Go, Cubs, Go" was written and first appeared in 1984. - MikeOSX, on 07/23/2009, -4/+18An unassisted triple play is next to impossible. It shouldn't even be considered realistic.
- jarjarwang, on 07/23/2009, -5/+19Put it on the board... Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- gnordy, on 07/23/2009, -0/+13In his no-hitter, he gave up 1 walk to Sammy Sosa and ended up picking him off at first. Faced the minimum 27 that day too. So close.
- FirstCuts, on 07/23/2009, -0/+13At least he had a previous no-no, that's a rare pair of feats.
- MastaQ, on 07/24/2009, -0/+13Well said.
- Kevinok, on 07/23/2009, -0/+12AMAZING!!! I can't believe Wise pulled that home run back.
- inactive, on 07/24/2009, -0/+12mlb.com took down the video. :(
Here's the video on mlb.com's website:
http://mlb.mlb.com/media/video.jsp?content_id=5699 ... - birdFEEDER, on 07/23/2009, -0/+12As a southsider and Sox fan, kudos to you mate! Dugg you up...
- ju66l3r, on 07/23/2009, -1/+13Puehrfect game?
- jfield1, on 07/23/2009, -1/+12What an amazing game for Mark.
- nathanstarr, on 07/23/2009, -0/+10Mark definitely deserved this. He's a such a class act. I also love how he doesn't screw around at the mound. He just gets the ball and throws.
- johnwc, on 07/23/2009, -0/+10Best part? Shows talent without performance enhancing drugs.
- richlizard24, on 07/23/2009, -0/+10What made the catch even better was that Wise had just come into the game as a defensive replacement. Absolutely amazing and great call by Ozzie Guillen.
- serif69, on 07/23/2009, -2/+12Oh come on, we have more perfect games than any other team, with Larsen, Wells, and Cone. Hell, Wells and Cone were about a year apart. Give it up for Buehrle.
- penguinhunter, on 07/23/2009, -0/+10You feasibly could. Just make 26 more accounts and Bam -- 27 extra diggs by you. Of course, I bet that goes against the rules of digg.
- richlizard24, on 07/23/2009, -0/+10Why comment on a baseball story if it is not important? You're an idiot.
- gianttoolbox11, on 07/23/2009, -0/+9Pretty crazy considering Dwayne Wise was almost sent down to the minors a few days ago, but Ozzie kept him instead of Anderson. Funny how things work...
- fcruz1331, on 07/23/2009, -1/+10I think this is just Icing on top of the cake, Buehrle was already on his way to the HOF. He's had one of the most consistent careers of any Pitcher since he came to the league.
- Bullislander05, on 07/24/2009, -1/+10Before anyone comes up and says "MATH FAIL" or something, the idea is that you're the visiting team pitcher, everyone swings at the first pitch, puts it in play, and you get the out. Through 8 innings you're at 24. If it's the bottom of the ninth and the score is 0-0 and you toss a tater, game over in 25.
Never thought of it that way before though. Easy day for the pitcher huh? - kingofinternet, on 07/23/2009, -0/+9couldn't have done it without the real star of the game, that's right RAMON CASTRO
