The failure dynasties
sports.espn.go.com — It's really tough to build a winning dynasty in Major League Baseball, this much we know. Reeling off a streak of winning seasons is hard enough, never mind stringing together multiple World Series victories. So many teams came close to achieving immortal status only to fall short that we rolled out an entire series on failed dynasties.

- sloppychris, on 05/05/2008, -0/+5I don't know how this writer gets away with bashing teams' drafting. The amateur draft is a crapshoot. You can't look back and bring all the players a team passed on like anybody knew at the time who would become a star and who wouldn't.
- zadadka, on 05/05/2008, -0/+6As always, hindsight yields 20/20 vision.

- Disket, on 05/05/2008, -1/+3I was expecting to see the Chicago Cubs on that list being that the last time they won the world series, it was 1908. That's 100 years!
- midejitsu, on 05/05/2008, -1/+5They made the playoffs as recently as last year, had back to back winning seasons in 2003 and 2004 and are the odds on favourite to take the central this year. They have a right fielder called Kosuke Fukudome! That is not failure. That is ultimate power.
- rjwisniewski, on 05/05/2008, -0/+4Living in Tampa, I kind of like that the Rays are still building up. Great seats for cheap prices even when they play teams like the Red Sox or the Yankees.
