- IvenomI, on 07/10/2009, -0/+23Bury me if you will. RIP Nick Adenhart.
- Blinker1315, on 07/10/2009, -2/+24I'm a Red Sox fan from way back, but Angels Stadium is my favorite in the country. Unusual for ballparks, it has great grub, the views from even cheap seats is good, and the out of town scores are up-to-date (unlike Camden Yards, home of the Orioles, where I live about 15 minutes away from, that park's main flaw). And I like the Angels as a team as well, fast-paced baseball. Hoping they'll sweep Yanks this weekend.
- BrandonJM, on 07/10/2009, -1/+18Now if only they would drop the excessively long name ...
- buddahead9, on 07/11/2009, -0/+11"Yes, it's good to be in Orange County, the county that never sleeps."
Apparently he's never been to South Orange County. Sure seems like everything is closed by 10 pm down here. - TheAzureCord, on 07/10/2009, -0/+11The Los Angeles Clippers need to take note of the Angels. They are detested or ignored by their own city, don't have a culture of winning, AND they don't take care of their fans! At least the Angels appreciate those who stick by them instead of being concerned with turning a profit. (talking to you Sterling)

- mptsxtps, on 07/11/2009, -0/+7Well when the one of the first moves after purchasing the Angels is lowering the beer prices (still expensive, thanks though Arte), I think it's somewhat deserving. Just won big too today versus the Yanks.
- Shiftyeyedgoat, on 07/11/2009, -1/+8Note my icon.
I was there in '86 when Donnie Moore was but a strike away from taking us to the World Series... I was also 2 at the time. Been a fan since birth and try to make it to as many games as I can per year, but living in LA, you have to leave work by 4 to get there by the first pitch.
The place is the best experience in sports; if you want to see good-natured fans (not the horrible mutants who subside in the Dodgers' bleachers), fast-paced baseball, and good food -- despite the rats -- catch a game here. The beer is cheaper than any other venue in sports. 'Nuff said. - Thor86, on 07/11/2009, -0/+6The traffic controllers are very nice around there also. They get everyone on their way efficiently.
- Cannonballkid, on 07/10/2009, -1/+7Good for them I guess but I've been to an Angels game its like being at the library. Speak up and everyone stares at you. This might be one reason why its family friendly. As opposed to here in NY where everyone is screaming and cursing and thats just the national anthem. To be honest I prefer that though.
- Takfam, on 07/11/2009, -0/+5This is what amounts to zealotry in MLB fandom? Clearly you haven't seen Yankee or Red Sox fans.
- Blaqjak, on 07/11/2009, -1/+6What are you talking about? The Angels kept most of their key players after the '02 series: Eckstein, Erstad, Kennedy, Salmon, Anderson, Glaus, Washburn, and Percival for at least a couple years while developing players (Lackey, Figgins, Frankie Rodriguez) to replace them when they lost the edge due to injuries or old age.
Torri and Vlad (Juan Rivera a big name? Ha ha ha...) are by far the biggest free agent signings the Angels have had since then. Most of the players on the roster are "no name players" that either came up through the farm system or got their first real success with the team. - Obsydian, on 07/11/2009, -0/+4Hell yeah. It was a great game, and a good fireworks show after as well.
- theEpiphany, on 07/11/2009, -0/+3*****...I'm an angel's fan by marriage when I moved from New York to California 6 years ago. I live a few miles from the Stadium and go to games several times a month. I've sat with all sort of "Visiting Team" fans, and I myself rooted against the Angels for the first time last night when the Yankees were in town. Unless the "Booing" was part of a drunken Rampage, people don't just get ejected from a game for wearing a jersey and booing the Home Team....And judging by the Yankees Fans that showed up last night, that would have been a lot of ejections .I've only seen more Visiting Team fans show up when The Dodgers are playing.
- bruin8uclap, on 07/11/2009, -1/+4First of all, complaining about the Angels' "LA fans" then ending your spiel with Go DODGERS makes you an idiot. The most contemptuous and most unruly fans I have ever seen are Dodger fans. Secondly, the Angels still have one of the best farm systems in all of baseball and have developed most of that talent to the Major League level. Finally, Jeff Kent, Manny Ramirez, and Nomar Garciappara are by far much bigger names than the Angels have signed in recent years. Juan Rivera a big name, LOL. If you don't like big names, root for the Oakland A's. But wait, they just signed a whole bunch of big names. Just forget about baseball. You don't know anything about it.
- EnderSaveUs, on 07/11/2009, -0/+3It really depends where you sit. Club level I 100% agree with you, but get into the upper deck and there's plenty of noise.
- snowrider221, on 07/11/2009, -1/+4Just got home from the Angels-Yankees game tonight... Yankees started it off dominating with a 4 run lead, but we caught them and in the end send them home crying with a crushing defeat. Throughout the game I had my beers hand-delivered to me, I parked 30 yards from the gates, and I got to enjoy a wonderful 20 minute fireworks / beatles tribute. AMAZING NIGHT
edit - I was VERY impressed with the Yankees fandom in the audience tonight though... I mean like literally 50% yankees fans at a home game for the Angels! - xjeffx, on 07/11/2009, -0/+2The Clippers actually do a GREAT job of taking care of their fans. The only problem, is they have so few of them since their team is a joke.
- audioslavery, on 07/10/2009, -7/+9I've been an Angels fan since I was born in the 80's but after they won the World Series in 2002 and were sold off to Artie Moreno I left the team. He raised ticket prices, posted a million advertisements everywhere imaginable throughout the stadium, and changed the name to Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim to bring in a larger crowd.
The name change just brought in fewer people from the OC and more people from LA. There have been fights and killings at the stadium recently and that never occurred in the 15 years I was a fan.
The worst part was is that the owner sold off all the up and coming players of the 2002 team and bought all these big names (Tori Hunter, Vlad Guerrero, Juan Rivera). All those no-name players made the team fun to root for, but they certainly destroyed our Anaheim Angels that we knew and loved.
Go DODGERS, (Aside from Manny, there aren't many bought up players and the FANS HAVE HEART) - fromthe804, on 07/11/2009, -0/+1those denver hoodrats go crazy. Didn't you see at the DNC at Mile High? ALL OVER THE PLACE
- fromthe804, on 07/11/2009, -4/+5fan-friendly?
check this out
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2009/06/anah ... - xjeffx, on 07/12/2009, -0/+1There's a difference when a good number of the fans are for either team. I've seen lone fans sitting in a sea of Angels fans get ejected just for booing or cheering their team dozens of times.
- shaftscaliber, on 09/23/2009, -0/+1That may be true but what do they have to show for it? Do you see them making the playoffs this year? Looks like another early exit for the Rangers...who woulda thunk?!
- GutterBumber, on 07/11/2009, -4/+5You complain about fights and killings at the stadium, and you're a Dodger fan? Dodger fans don't have heart, they have girth and parole officers.
Arte Moreno changed the name to raise ad revenue, not bring a larger crowd. They had a whole trial about it. Angels stadium has some of the cheapest ticket and concession prices in all of professional sports ... that's kind of what this article is about.
The 2002 team remained almost unchanged for the 2003 season. They finished in 3rd place, and 19 games back. They sucked, so the team brought in "big names" like Vlad Guerrero (who won an MVP) and Bartolo Colon (who won a Cy Young). Also, Juan Rivera is not a big name, and he only makes $3M/year. - theEpiphany, on 07/11/2009, -1/+2I was there too...Rooting for the Yankees....Aside from a near 10 person fight breaking out after the game (I think it was more Alcohol induced than anything). There were a few Dodgers Jerseys and some Semi-attractive Girlfriends involved in the ***** talking....so I'm sure someone said something to insult one of the girls and it just went downhill. Judging by the looks of things....There wasn't much class involved in this scuffle. it's anyone's guess who instigated what.
Everyone was pretty friendly as they normally are. I sat next to a woman who was annoying as hell. I don't normally root against the Angels..but I'm a Native New Yorker who loves the Yankees. Great game all the way around. I love that damn Stadium. Go Yankees/Angels. - xjeffx, on 07/11/2009, -0/+1Yeah, crying babies and soccer moms complaining that they can't see.
- xjeffx, on 07/11/2009, -0/+1Yeah, but that was following a game against the Rockies, and you know the kind of hoodlums that come out to root for their Rockies!
- dfwcharlie, on 07/11/2009, -7/+7win or lose im a dodger fan.
- stpirate, on 07/11/2009, -1/+1Great grub?
The hot dogs there are absolutely terrible when compared with Dodger dogs. Lack of spicy mustard and onions doesn't help their case either. Chocolate frozen malts are also non-fat (not a good thing when it comes to ice cream).
Most of the other food in the stadium can be had much cheaper outside i.e.: Panda Express, Carls Jr., and California Pizza Kitchen.
For the price of tickets, food, and parking I'd rather watch baseball games (or just about any sports) on my HDTV at home. - JuanBSU, on 07/11/2009, -2/+2Was the description redundant or am I just drunk?
- jba68, on 07/11/2009, -1/+1YAY RANGERS DOMINATING THE ANGELS THIS YEAR
- rlruppel, on 07/11/2009, -0/+0Always bleed blue!!!
- YodaOfDarkness, on 07/11/2009, -1/+1The bleachers at Dodger Stadium have been and always will be full of people who could care less about watching a baseball game. They don't have any sort of a good view on the game, so they waste their time with the wave and beach balls.
Come watch from the real seats behind home plate (Loge level) some time. - laughtears, on 07/11/2009, -10/+9Great. Go Dodgers!
- idc5, on 07/11/2009, -3/+1"They are happy here, "Hi, how are ya" happy."
You should see how the cops in certain areas treat minorities.... - uclaith, on 07/11/2009, -5/+3lets go oakland
screw you angels fans and your stadium that is actually nice and filled with fans... and in an area with great weather and an owner who cares about the team and will actually spend some cash...
ok, ok... ***** the a's - xjeffx, on 07/11/2009, -5/+2I'm an Angels fan, growing up in the area and having season tickets for a few years, but I hate going to Angels games compared to other stadiums. They kick people out after the first sound of a curse word and take the whole "family-friendly" thing too far. Heck, I've even seen people thrown out for wearing the other team's jersey and booing the angels. Come on, really??!!?
- djm19, on 07/11/2009, -3/+0Orange county is just a waste of space.
- rlruppel, on 07/11/2009, -4/+0GO DODGERS!!!!
- sir1real, on 07/11/2009, -6/+2This is just more Angels fanboy zealotry. Digg it down.
- STPZ, on 07/11/2009, -8/+1I'm not a baseball fan. I'm a Red Sox fan.
