- sgtbutterscotch, on 03/18/2009, -1/+14I wish people would stop bitching about how we don't care and pay attention to the people who do care.
- Thessence, on 03/18/2009, -0/+12Great game. Not that many fans...
- ThaBBoyWannaB, on 03/18/2009, -2/+12HELL YeA USA

- goldenisthytate, on 03/18/2009, -0/+9USA! USA! USA!
- bruin8uclap, on 03/18/2009, -0/+8In other news: Once again Korea defeats Japan, once again the Korean flag is planted at home plate, and once again Ichiri is PISSSSSSSED.
- inactive, on 03/18/2009, -2/+10Puerto Rico has U.S citizenship, just in case you didn't posted that as a joke.
- divinediva, on 03/18/2009, -0/+8It really was a great game.
- MrLazySmurf, on 03/18/2009, -0/+8The hell with everyone who said this tournament is worthless! This is the olympics of baseball because the USA actually makes an appearance with its elite players. Ill be at all games in LA, and i've been to one already in SD. Best sporting events ever!
GO USA!!! CLUTCH win today! Cuba v. USA in Finals would be great! - alphalimaxray, on 03/18/2009, -2/+9this is great seeing USA Baseball pride! b/c obviously baseball is the USA's national sport.
- thegamingguy, on 03/18/2009, -0/+7I wish more of the top players were involved, but the injuries to Team USA will likely make that an even bigger issue in coming years.
- skin, on 03/18/2009, -0/+7MLB Network has a surprisingly large audience for being a new channel. And this game didn't fit into ESPN's schedule. Their commitments for college basketball trump the WBC.
- Moocowz, on 03/18/2009, -3/+9Puerto Rico is not a state, it is a commonwealth. In fact, they refused to become the 51st state
- KrazyMon2, on 03/18/2009, -0/+6USA USA... at least we can be happy about somethings that happen.
- kydjester, on 03/18/2009, -0/+5I was excited to see team USA excited at the end. Great game over all.
- JeddHampton, on 03/18/2009, -0/+4USA is playing Venezuela next.
- kooredaan, on 03/18/2009, -1/+5David Wright!!!!! My choice for MVP this year....
No bias from a Mets fan. ;P - sgtbutterscotch, on 03/18/2009, -0/+3They televised all WBC games except for maybe another one, on espn and espn2. Worst of all, they didn't even broadcast it live on their website, for espn360 users. Pissed me off so much. I mean seriously. Why the ***** do I even get the golf channel with basic cable? Whose bright idea was that? /tangent
Moskie, it seems like that is a pretty easy way to build up a U.S. fanbase, but I am more pissed at ESPN than I am happy for the MLB Network. The WBC isn't even MLB, what the hell? Now I'm getting even more pissed the more things don't make sense. - Jonmad17, on 03/18/2009, -0/+3Although they now voted for a governor who advocates for Puerto Rico's statehood.
- Moskie, on 03/18/2009, -2/+5Televising it solely on the MLB Network is a terrible idea. How do they expect to build up a U.S. fanbase like that?
Personally, I find it hard to justify paying for even basic cable, considering how expensive it is and how I am forced to pay for hundreds of channels I'll never watch. Asking me to pay _even more_ to get content I actually want... that's going a little too far.
Just make everyone happy and throw all the U.S. games on ESPN. Any other games that don't fit on ESPN's schedule should go on the MLB network. Is that such bad idea? - Spoomeister, on 03/18/2009, -0/+3All the wbc games have been really good, except the first Puerto Rico game.
- C4Aries, on 03/18/2009, -0/+3Puerto Ricans are US Citizens, so it just depends how you look at it.
- azureskies88, on 03/18/2009, -0/+3In what way does commonwealth != part of the USA?
- inactive, on 03/18/2009, -0/+2The WBC is exactly what MLB needs at this moment. with all of the negative publicity the league has gotten for the steroid usage amongst the best players (league knew of their usage) the clean semi-Olympic feeling of the WBC is great.
I just wish that more people realized how big the potential for an international tournament like this could be for baseball, just look at the world cub.
http://www.tnga.com - SnuKs, on 03/18/2009, -0/+2It was ESPN Deportes AKA ESPN The Ocho
- inactive, on 03/18/2009, -0/+2@ sgtbutterscotch
The WBC may not be the MLB, but considering Commissioner Bud helped create the WBC and around 50% - 60% of the players in the WBC play in the MLB, I think the MLB Network deserves to show games. - joncannon, on 03/18/2009, -0/+2*pastime
- NeoCortex, on 03/18/2009, -0/+2I would gladly watch it on MLB, if I got it. I'm paying too much as it is for regular cable. If I wanted to get MLB, I would have to upgrade to digital cable and probably double my monthly bill. And I would only get a few more channels that I would actually watch. This should really be on at least ESPN2 if they are looking to build interest, or at least the USA games should be televised properly.
Of course, the real solution would be a la carte channel ordering from cable. As if that would ever happen. - bigmrpig, on 03/18/2009, -2/+4States can be commonwealths too. See:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commonwealth_of_Virgi ... - jodhas, on 03/18/2009, -1/+3Great win!!!
Until tonight, Team USA barely got by.
We need to invest and tweak the system (with cooperation from the MLB owners) so OUR best can match up with THEIR best, mano-a-mano
I totally understand that the owners need to protect their investment and are reluctant to send out their best. However, with a half hearted commitment, the embarassment of 2006 is bound to continue. I mean, did you guys see the other nations? The players have fires in their eyes and the ENTIRE nation is right behind themn (not to mention their camers covering EVERY SINGLE ANGLE)!!!
Why not try to win the game we invented? Why not try to win the tournament started? Why not send our best?
The dog pile celebration tonight is reminiscent of the World Series celebration, it was THAT exciting. WBC could be big. We just need to throw in some REAL commitment from the players, owners and the MLB. - xcornbreadx, on 03/18/2009, -0/+2I saw it on the Armed Forces Network. Hooah!!
- SonicAD, on 03/18/2009, -0/+1Well, ESPN/ESPN2 have 23 of the games, MLB Network has the other 16. As mentioned, ESPN has lots of basketball commitments, etc. Also, ESPN did carry the Pool 2 game the day before the USA game, which is probably where the USA was expected to go since it involved both winners. This was the losers game, and it just happened that it ended up on MLBN.
- mborys88, on 03/19/2009, -0/+1Too bad they just lost to Venezuela.
- Moskie, on 03/18/2009, -0/+1

- dannythepan, on 03/19/2009, -0/+0I wish i actually had MLB network. on second thought, it may take up too much of my time. i already can't stand sitting in front of a tv for extended periods of time.
- gkiltz, on 03/18/2009, -1/+1It was Dolphin Stadium!
A football stadium that some genius managed to squeeze a baseball diamond into!
Good football stadium.
Worst baseball stadium in the majors. - greyghst168, on 03/18/2009, -2/+2It's too bad the Mets are choke artists...
