- absolutzombie, on 10/06/2009, -0/+12Better than a bailed out bank naming a park.
- Titan7771, on 10/06/2009, -0/+10No we don't.
- awtripp, on 10/06/2009, -0/+7The roof is the coolest part of this stadium.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metrodome#The_roof - spyd3rweb, on 10/06/2009, -3/+10The dome is great for football, its loud as hell, warm (on those nice cold minnesota winter days), has decent sight lines, and there's a giant swastika in the middle of the ceiling, what more could you ask for. For baseball however its atrocious, but an outdoors stadium will probably be even worse.
- YZBot, on 10/06/2009, -0/+5The noise, OMG, yes! The place is like a noise amplifier. Even funner when the players are down on the field working the crowd to make even more noise.
- Testies, on 10/06/2009, -1/+6Target field?
That's sad. - awtripp, on 10/06/2009, -0/+5Not really. They said they wanted a new field, but with Mall of America buying out the naming rights and them having sole use of the field things could change. Plus, they'd have to start funding/planing/building a new stadium really soon in order for it to be finished before the start of the 2012 season.
- acdcfanbill, on 10/06/2009, -0/+5I loved going there as a kid and was really sad I didn't get back this season to see the Twins play once more.
- awtripp, on 10/06/2009, -8/+12Yes. See picture 3.
- Vig6y, on 10/06/2009, -0/+4Yeah, Target field, located literally one block from the Target Center (where the Timberwolves play) and only a few blocks from the Target HQ. O well the stadium looks really cool and is in a better location.
- livefromheaven, on 10/06/2009, -0/+4That's still far better than what we're supposed to call the metrodome now...
"Mall of America field". Google it - awtripp, on 10/06/2009, -5/+9Why bury me? If you read the caption on picture 3 it clearly states that "The Minnesota Vikings will soon be the sole professional sports franchise to call the Dome home."
Don't get mad at me if you fail to understand simple sentences. - joe361, on 10/06/2009, -1/+5You must be a fatso to think the step are uneven.
- macluke170, on 10/06/2009, -0/+3No one ever calls it that.
- Titan7771, on 10/06/2009, -0/+3It's served us well over the years, can't say I won't miss it. And who the hell thought it was a good idea to rename it MOA Stadium? I mean WTF?
- dementer0, on 10/07/2009, -0/+3Oh btw, we aren't leaving yet, GO TWINS!
- stburke, on 10/06/2009, -0/+3It'll alway be the Metrodome in my eyes, not that Mall of America crap. I'm sure gonna miss fighting the breeze walking into that place...and dome dogs. GO TWINS!
- spud387, on 10/06/2009, -0/+2But apparently it is not the biggest.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BC_Place_Stadium - AtHomeBoy2000, on 10/06/2009, -0/+2On behalf of all White Sox fans: Good Riddance!!!
- absolutzombie, on 10/06/2009, -0/+2They've already said they aren't renewing their contract after next season.
- Wamzlee, on 10/06/2009, -1/+3The dome is horrible for football. I was there last night. Vikings fans even bitch about. I agree that its great for noise, but the seating is terrible. If you are stuck in the middle of a row, you might as well bring a douche bag to piss in because you aren't getting out of your cramped seat.
The restrooms are located right next to the concessions, and the narrow hallways just creates a a huge traffic jam. It shouldn't take an hour to get to your seat, but in the Metrodome it does. And the views are pretty bad.
There is a reason why the Metrodome is ranked last on every NFL ranking list, and there is a reason the Gophers built their own stadium.
The stadium is outdated. I hope the Vikings manage to secure funding for a new stadium in Minneapolis and not Los Angeles. - user500, on 10/06/2009, -0/+1In other news next year planing for a new sports stadium is scheduled to begin....
- zarisback, on 10/06/2009, -0/+1I was fortunate enough to get tickets to Sundays game, with the farewell to the Metrodome ceremony and the All-Metrodome Team. It was really great, too bad you couldn't make it.
- user500, on 10/06/2009, -0/+1I guess target now has a team.
- ftc08, on 10/06/2009, -3/+4Good riddance. I've gone to a few games in it, and was sorely disappointed.
It's not set up for baseball for one, there isn't a single place in it designed for baseball. The steps are all uneven and at a dangerous angle. - yodawgg, on 10/06/2009, -0/+1Ah..sad. Everyone likes some dome.
- withremote, on 10/06/2009, -0/+1the Dome is about ready to be condemned anyway, if any of you have eaten there, yikes!
- murrdpirate, on 10/06/2009, -0/+1It doesn't matter because I can hold a beat with no metrodome....
- altgeeky1, on 10/06/2009, -0/+1I agree, it IS sad.
god forbid we name a stadium after national heroes.
What's aggravating is these privately owned stadiums are most often built with local public money... if the city doesn't pay up front and also grant huge tax exemptions, there is an implied or stated threat to move the stadium somewhere else. - boardthis, on 10/26/2009, -0/+1i'll give you the only reason why its called target field... $
- lejake, on 10/06/2009, -1/+2I'll be there tonight for perhaps the REAL final baseball game (but hopefully there's still a couple Yankees games coming up).
Place is a *****. - Igacek, on 10/06/2009, -0/+1Well said, Titan.
- macluke170, on 10/06/2009, -1/+2One of the main reasons it's called the Target field is because target started in Minnesota.
- WeberWK, on 10/06/2009, -0/+1So, let's think about this.
3 times in the past the snow has caused the roof to puncture.
And they want to go ahead and play everything outside? - gkiltz, on 10/07/2009, -0/+1Good Riddance!
The concept of a multipurpose stadium that is ideal for every event except the one you're holding is a flawed one. - cobrapeed, on 10/08/2009, -0/+1"The Dome is the only venue to host the MLB All-Star Game, World Series, Final Four and Super Bowl".
- knute5, on 10/06/2009, -0/+1The Humpty Dome gives Vikes fans a much more prominent role in the game than other stadiums. I'm sure Favre is much happier being on the fans' good side vs. the Packer days when they could almost drown out his play calls... they'd be nuts to give up that advantage.
- cokewithlemon, on 10/06/2009, -0/+1Target Field next year is going to be great! It's not going anywhere yet, the Vikings will still be playing there for the time being.
- macromorgan, on 10/06/2009, -1/+2Considering the AL would be represented by NY, Boston, Anaheim and the Twins (or Tigers) I hope the Twins (or Tigers) season doesn't end until November.
***** Boston/New York/Anaheim! - marinLETOILE, on 10/07/2009, -0/+1Buried for misleading. Photo slideshow is half Vikings crap. They still play there, and will continue doing so until they build a new stadium. In the meantime, Mall of America Field. Garbage.
- marinLETOILE, on 10/07/2009, -0/+1Never heard that either. My friends and I call it The Downtown Diaper, though.
- znine, on 10/06/2009, -2/+2It sucked for college football except that they served beer. TCF Bank Stadium FTW.
- c010rb1indusa, on 10/06/2009, -2/+1Will the Vikings still play there?
- deeboe, on 10/06/2009, -2/+1I was at what was supposed to be the final regular season Twins game on Sunday. I cant wait to never have to watch a Twins game in that crap hole again. It was most certainly NOT designed for baseball. A lot of great memories of that place for me as a kid, but good riddance!
- swagv, on 10/06/2009, -5/+3All domes must die. I lost all respect for the Vikings when they went from cold-weather killers to climate-controlled also rans.
- Iwantawii, on 10/06/2009, -6/+2Here in MN we call it the "Big Inflatable Toilet"
- EndouOuto, on 10/06/2009, -8/+4All domes should be destroyed.
