- GerrywithaG, on 06/16/2009, -0/+21well i for one am surprised /sarcasm
- Bluesky0010, on 06/17/2009, -1/+12The title is written as if he is going to test positive "in the future, in the past". As in, they predict he will test positive in 2003.
- slimjim5811, on 06/17/2009, -8/+19I think professional athletes get paid way too much.
- ScratchPiece, on 06/16/2009, -1/+10Should anyone be surprised?
I actually thought he had already tested positive so when I heard the news I was like 'Why are they bringing this up again?"
I really wouldn't have a problem with it if he hadn't lied about it in court. What a low class person. - inactive, on 06/17/2009, -2/+9That explains the thick neck and huge jaw.
- redskyformiles, on 06/17/2009, -3/+9obvious news is obvious.
- gianthorse, on 06/17/2009, -1/+7the *****?
- inactive, on 06/17/2009, -5/+10if they are attracting fans and making teams millions then shouldn't they be paid for it?
- inactive, on 06/17/2009, -1/+5dude. REPLIES NOT ***** NOVELS.
- Lionhart, on 06/17/2009, -1/+4That bear doesn't mean what you think it means.
- stlcadet11, on 06/17/2009, -2/+5another day another MLB steroid story.... anyone else not surprised?
- ZonGuy, on 06/17/2009, -3/+5It's just like any standard business model; The weight of your participation in a profitable venture should be directly proportional to your slice of the earnings. This clearly becomes frustrating as you see the luck/skill of others benefit them greatly, while you feel similar burdens of responsibility yet yield much smaller profits. Furthermore, I just made out with a strange, beautiful woman. I am confused and high.
Thank you,
Hello - NotAChickenHawk, on 06/17/2009, -0/+2Bud Selig is a joke as baseball commissioner. Before this story broke, he was interviewed on radio, literally this morning on Dan Patrick's show, and spent a ton of time downplaying the entire steroids issue, touting all of the supposed progress that's been made, and basically trying to pretend that its a non issue, even wondering why its still a story, at the same time criticising Manny Ramirez. THIS is why its still a story, Bud. There was rampant cheating occuring on your watch (A-Rod, Big Mac, Slammin Sammy, Palmiero, Clemens, Petit, everyone in the Mitchell Report).... and guess what Bud? There still *IS* rampant cheating going on - see Manny. That is why its still a story, that is why its not going to go away. That is why it shouldn't go away. But it is why you should go away. That, and the fact that baseball is the only sport that values its own integrity so little, and cares so little how its integrity is perceived - how the fans perceive the game - that it actually has an owner of one of its team as commissioner - one so delusional that despite all of this he still thinks he's doing a good job.
- Stinkylicious, on 06/17/2009, -0/+2As Daniel Tosh put it, sports stars should be forced to take steroids. The amount they get paid should allow for them to do superhuman feats.
- haylcron, on 06/17/2009, -0/+2I think executives of financial firms get paid way too much.
- JeffDUpp, on 06/17/2009, -0/+2yea sorry that comment came across more douchebaggy than intended
- jba68, on 06/17/2009, -0/+2They should be fed to the Taliban
- maloventevil, on 06/17/2009, -0/+1WHO. CARES.
all of these retarded steroid stories are wasting everyone's time. why the hell did/does congress spend time on this *****? - maloventevil, on 06/17/2009, -0/+1+ 1. (and daniel tosh is awesome)
- Mikey129, on 06/17/2009, -0/+1Sosa has the high five? Who was his lover?
- HunterGathers, on 06/17/2009, -0/+1Mark McGuire hasn't been proven to take steroids. Also, the time he played it wasn't 'against the rules' to used HGH and other "legal" steroids.
All of these other players tested positive AFTER the ban. - tomato1324, on 06/17/2009, -0/+1you know, theres this really cool feature on computers called copy and paste. it can help eliminate your entirely senseless grammar in that title.
- DonnieJamon, on 06/17/2009, -0/+1They should just freeze all the baseball records from some random period in the 1980's. Then they should legalize steroids in baseball and just let everyone go to town.
- ech2005, on 06/17/2009, -1/+2Frank Thomas - the only true great hitter of our time.
The rest are all frauds. - Ajajadude, on 06/17/2009, -1/+2And replies that have to do with submitted articles are great.
- ctnp, on 06/17/2009, -1/+2Don't forget the big arm muscles.
- Raidy11Moon, on 06/17/2009, -1/+2Sammy being Manny? or is it being Barry?
- jabuck, on 06/17/2009, -1/+2He only used it during batting practice though. Gotta give the fans their money's worth.
- HunterGathers, on 06/17/2009, -0/+1Union had more to do with allowing this to go on for so long. There was a push to ban when the NFL did but the union stood up for players 'privacy'.
Not says he's not a dick ad should burn in a fire for this and inter-league play and allowing a tie and the all-star world champion link and .... - ganymede2010, on 06/17/2009, -1/+2The players generate millions for the TV networks, advertisers, and apparel companies.
- Anubis2051, on 06/17/2009, -0/+1I hate how baseball always gets the bad rap. Whenever an NFL player tests positive, it's brushed off in less than a day, but with MLB it lasts forever.
Oh, and I can guarantee that they stop talking about Sosa way before they stop talking about A-Rod. - Foot56, on 06/17/2009, -0/+1Mark McGuire's brother, trainer and even his old teammates said he used steroids. Furthermore, Roger Maris did it without using anything no HGH or what you call "legal" steroids and that’s what makes the record so special.
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=385138 ... - hankthedwarf, on 06/17/2009, -1/+2Most people here won't get you're referencing the corked bat issue, also from 2003 in which he lied (yet again) about only using the corked bat to give the fans a show during batting practice.
- JeffDUpp, on 06/17/2009, -2/+3Ken Griffey Jr? Jim Thome? for that specific time frame. Not to mention currently Albert Pujols and Joe Mauer
- Foot56, on 06/17/2009, -0/+1Roger Maris record should be restored; Mark McGuire, Sammy Sosa, and Barry Bonds cheated the game of baseball and more importantly the record books.
- JinnRikki, on 06/17/2009, -1/+2How can these players be put into the record book along side of the greats like Mickey Mantle, Roger Maris not to mention Hank Aaron?
They cheated period. - saintamour, on 06/17/2009, -0/+1In other news, birds can fly
- VisualRhetoric, on 06/17/2009, -0/+1Jimmy might have a compound fracture.. Jimmy's going into shock!!
- cheez, on 06/17/2009, -1/+2No love on digg for old snl jokes...
- Chunken, on 06/25/2009, -0/+1I thought it was pretty obvious when a reporter asked him on camera if he would take a steroids test and his answer was something like "WTF are you trying to get me in trouble? Hell no I won't take your test!" But for some reason people believed him when he pretended not to speak english in front of congress. The funny thing is the guy that the media chose as the whipping boy, Mark McGwire, is the only one who didn't lie to congress that day.
- welestgw, on 06/17/2009, -0/+1Jimmy's Down!
- gianttoolbox11, on 06/17/2009, -0/+1"Steroids have been berry, berry good to me."-Sammy Sosa
- slashdotordigg, on 06/17/2009, -0/+1ARE YOU POSITIVE?
- inactive, on 06/17/2009, -4/+4Seriously, ***** him, ***** all the cheaters. MLB has been dead to me for years, It's a real shame.
- roxgod666, on 06/17/2009, -9/+9Baseball is a joke. It's hard to even take seriously anymore.
- Anubis2051, on 06/17/2009, -1/+1and the NFL does?
- barcardi, on 06/17/2009, -0/+0All i have to say is: I hope to the baseball gods that Ken Griffey Jr. is nowhere near that list.
Hopefully not as he kept on getting injured and never really recovered while everyone else suddenly turned into superman. - Raidy11Moon, on 06/17/2009, -1/+1What big muscles?
- hikenglacr, on 06/17/2009, -0/+0Maybe he'll be voted to play in the MLB All Star game now...
