- Frnnkdlxx, on 10/10/2007, -6/+4Screw you guys! He's a legend and he did what none of you could do with the body of robocop.
- Traiklin, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1neither could he, that's why he got some "assistance" to get the robocop body.
- datdamonfoo, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0That made no sense.

- adam, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1I agree with the post.
- cricoste90, on 10/10/2007, -12/+3I don't think he's a bad bond.
I don't think he's a bad bond at all.
Unless that's what you want?
Casino Royale was amazing (personally)...
edit: *****. Bad cricoste90, no cookie for you. RTFA, its talking about BARRY BONDS NOT JAMES BOND!- TheMeatball, on 10/10/2007, -3/+3I made the same mistake.
If I knew this was about baseball I never would have clicked it.
- TheMeatball, on 10/10/2007, -3/+3I made the same mistake.
- Doorfingers, on 10/10/2007, -4/+10This is just like that movie Mr. 3000. Quitting right after you break the record. I hope they find out that he's missing a few homeruns.
- MikeMitchell, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0I would much prefer to just have him kicked out of MLB and have his record removed.
- MikeMitchell, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0I would much prefer to just have him kicked out of MLB and have his record removed.
- MadGouki, on 10/10/2007, -8/+1Must be a slow day here on Digg.
- DDDavinnn, on 10/10/2007, -5/+8Come on... another whole year? Think of how tired he must be after all of that cheating.
- scairborn, on 10/10/2007, -3/+10Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if the Giants cut him. He costs too much and he only plays 3 games a week. His alure has faded since he "broke" the record. Dropping him would allow the Giants to go after say, Alex Rodriguez, who looks like he will break the record, that and he's actually a good player.
- Yuska, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2The Giants will never get ARod, I think they Yankees will keep him for as long as they can, I know I would. On the subject of Bonds, I have mixed feelings about him. Did he cheat? Yes. Does he deserve an asterisk? Yes. Would be be a Hall of Famer had be not cheated? Yes. But would he have broken the record, had he not taken steroids? No.
- datdamonfoo, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Boy, those are some mixed feelings!
- ngmcs8203, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5What makes Alex Rodriguez any different than bonds?... the whole nation thinks he's got a spotless drug record. We don't even know half of the story. I am holding judgement on all of this. Bonds is a power hitter and would have been in the HoF without special recovery creams. But what about the rest of the players that were using? If this is a witch hunt why don't we point at ARods huge arms and say he was doping as well!?
- amitku, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I think it's pretty clear that Bonds has validated his contract by his stats alone this year (1st in NL OBP, 1st in NL OPS, tied for 5th in NL HR, leads team in all meaningful offensive categories)... so your comment that he's not worth it is kind of hard for me to agree with. He makes Barry Zito money and actually earns it. More to the point ARod will never sign with a last place team like the Giants. They are in total rebuilding mode and ARod won't want any part of that. He can get $30 million from a contending team.
- turnTaker, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Bonds' stats are still leading both leagues in many categories...i don't see how he's not helping the team. it's the deadbeats around him that aren't pulling their weight.
the man gets what...two, three hittable pitches a game? if that? over 100 walks so far...the man's 43 ***** years old and practically lives on first base.
IMO the Giants ***** up not acquiring Vlad Guerrero when he was available. the Giants could be contenders AND they would have their power slugger for the next decade.

- sleeknerve, on 10/10/2007, -3/+4Its hard to believe another team will pick him besides the Giants, as they are probably going to move past him, however, he is actually having a decent year hitting wise as he just recently hit 4 home runs in 5 games, and i dont think hes on steroids any more.
- NotAChickenHawk, on 10/10/2007, -3/+3Once a cheater, always a cheater, and there's still no way to test for HGH.
- sleeknerve, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1well if that was true than wouldn't everybody be using HGH
- NotAChickenHawk, on 10/10/2007, -3/+3Once a cheater, always a cheater, and there's still no way to test for HGH.
- burnstyle, on 10/10/2007, -4/+1*pout* whos gonna do all those steroids now?
- BlackJackJester, on 10/10/2007, -5/+2Lets all watch as he deflates like a balloon after he turns off his roid IV.
- bobbyschultz, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0Bahaha. Agreed.
- QuintinTheBot, on 10/10/2007, -2/+11Retire, he must.
- danomagnum, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0oh yoda...
- george2gfm, on 10/10/2007, -3/+3sad to hear, I bet he could play for another 3 years
- JasonQG, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4This is like the eighth time he's announced his retirement. I'll believe it when it happens.
- waterdrop, on 10/10/2007, -4/+3What's the big deal? It's not like he's the only guy in pro sports to use performance enhancers.
- Dhalgren, on 10/10/2007, -3/+5He's running out of places to stick needles...
- HermanCarson, on 10/10/2007, -4/+3Since when did nerds know anything about baseball? Shut the ***** up all of you. ***** jumping on the media bandwagon.
- krasherspk, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1What kind of name is Herman anyway? ***** off Herm.
- turnTaker, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1i gotta agree with Herm...most of the knee-jerk posts here are from non-informed, less-than-casual fans.
i will be sad when he leaves the game. he's an icon of baseball, cheater or not, and his swing is a thing of perfection. you never know what will happen to A-Rod, god forbid, and he may never reach the numbers we expect him to. plus, Bonds has been the only story in baseball for a long time. what else is more compelling?
- krasherspk, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3What is there to rejoice about? You act as if most people care that he's playing, I could careless. Unless you live on the West Coast the Giants don't ever really make it on TV. so that means for the last however many years only a select few have watched Barry on a day to day basis. When he leaves, baseball will still be the same to me, Bond-less.
The steroid era has gone and past, why people still care is beyond me. Enjoy the game and stop bitching, you will live longer. - NotAChickenHawk, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4If you think he cheated, it doesn't matter what else he does as far as his place in the history of baseball or the legitimacy of his career and records. If you don't think he cheated and think what he's accomplished is legit, there's really not much more he can do, besides 3000 hits - which he'll get next year - and winning a world series. Also, this way, he adds one more year until the first time he's on the hall-of-fame ballot, thus allowing one more year for things to cool off before his first vote.
- Bluntman4000, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Sweet will my Barey Bonds rookie card actually be worth some thing now! lol...
- DDDavinnn, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Especially if it says "Barey" on it!
- Bluntman4000, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2LOL oops.. Barry*
- mal1964, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1He also said he didn't do steroids
- MadGouki, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2If athletes want to kill themselves for the sport, they should be allowed to, I think its that "110%" thing they always talk about giving.
- frenchkick, on 10/10/2007, -4/+3***** BARRY BONDS
- zizzo, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I hope he leaves the Giants after this year. His bloated salary is hurting the team when you consider his numbers. Let's get some new talent (and possibly less jerks) on the roster. Great job breaking the record, who cares about the steroid era, leave the Giants so we can improve. Go be a DH in the AL.
- amitku, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Bonds is the only useful player on the team, besides maybe Lincecum. I'd rather beef up our team rather than dropping our best player. And if you're looking for bloated salary, look no further than Zito, the biggest waste of space on the team.
- jklyon, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2I COMPLETELY thought we were talking about James Bond.
- blurrie, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4i love how everyone hates him. steroids got all of you back loving baseball again after their strike. how'd they do it. w/ big mac and sosa 's little homerun race. now you guys get all pissy.
- turnTaker, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1exactly. everybody's mad because everybody realizes that they let themselves get fooled, even though it was so obvious.
where was the hate in 1998?
- turnTaker, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1exactly. everybody's mad because everybody realizes that they let themselves get fooled, even though it was so obvious.
- kilodelta, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2innocent until proven guilty, huh?
- defektiv, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1leave the ***** man alone for crying out loud. if he broke the damn law he would be in jail but he did nothing wrong at the time people are accusing him. whether he did or not is irrelevant, he did nothing wrong THEN. and furthermore, he's gone on to break the record after being extensively tested.. give him a freaking break.
"let he who is without sin cast the first stone." ***** hypocrites. - livewithhonor, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0I still find it funny that after years of investigating him (using OUR tax dollars) they can't find enough evidence to convict him of anything (even tho it is pretty likely that he took stuff)
- double_doose, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1What's ESPN gonna talk about now? Oh wait, forgot about Mike Vick.
- kerrickter, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I will paraphrase Chris Rock from the Costas show about bonds last week. "You can't commit adultery on your girlfriend. If you aren't married there aren't any rules. Bonds was playing when there were no rules against using Steroids. Same thing". Blame the player's union and Selig.
- texic, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1There was a good quote from another baseball player a few weeks back that said "A lot of players use steroids and you don't see them hitting 750 home runs." People seem to forget that regardless of what he chose to do in terms of steroids it still takes a ton of skill to be able to hit that many home runs. Not to mention its been over 22 seasons.. I could take steroids and that doesn't mean I could go hit a home run..
- Harrison88, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Buried because I thought your meant James Bond. That story would have been buried too, caus Bond rocks!
- osko2052, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1How can he play anymore when he is sitting in prison? That would make it a forced retirement.
- xSEED, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1steroids is a hell of a drug.
- pittarelli, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0the steroid industry takes a major blow today as barry bonds announces ........
- shauncorleone, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Way to editorialize in the title, RTard. Wait to submit your next story until you can be original, funny, or deceased. Buurrried.
- in2deep, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Listen to all you haters....go Bonds!
- Stevie6G, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Barry Bonds is the best baseball player of his generation. Anyone who disagrees, doesn't know baseball, and has their ideas force fed to them by a biased sensationalized media. 750 + homeruns, 500 + SB, and 3000 hits (hopefully). That is an amazing talent. Most of America doesn't like baseball anymore, they're too dumb to recognize its brilliance. Baseball is the perfect game. Barry Bonds is the best (for now). Willie Mays is the man's godfather, how was he not going to be this good?
Go Mr. Bonds!- joidnew, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0I used to love baseball. Then there were the cocaine scandals in the 80s and 90s, strikes, Pete Rose, and now steroids. I'll watch horse racing now. At least if the athletes are drugged up, we know it wasn't by choice. And I'll get my baseball fix from the Little League World Series, where (one hopes) the players have't yet been artificially enhanced.
- in2deep, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Go for it Barry...play a few more and make all these haters wait!
- StokleyNolan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Age does not make us childish, as some say; it finds us true children.
