- amprather, on 06/28/2009, -7/+34'roid rage?
- AgentOgre, on 06/28/2009, -8/+33i think athletes should be free to punch belligerent fans.
- CoreyFC, on 06/28/2009, -4/+21If I were to hit a customer at work, I would get:
A: suspended
B: fined
C: fired
D: fired and arrested - ricker2005, on 06/28/2009, -6/+20Romero stops to sign autographs for fans at an away game. Douchbag harrasses him. Douchebag gets shoved. Meh. Should Romero have laid a hand on him? No, of course not. Should the guy have been heckling Romero (the guy actually signing autographs for fans in Toronto) because other Phillies didn't sign autographs? That's probably a no, too.
- Theuderic, on 06/28/2009, -1/+13Yeah, like a million dollar settlement.
- inactive, on 06/28/2009, -1/+8Worthless without video.
- ThraxyWaxy, on 06/28/2009, -0/+6This message is endorsed by Ron Artest.
- rangah, on 06/28/2009, -2/+7Yeah, cause it's totally ok to physically batter anyone who calls you out on being a CHEATER.
Steroids are ruining modern sports, Romero should be thrown out for good. - btraxx, on 06/28/2009, -2/+6Good career move.
- JSchnalz16, on 06/28/2009, -5/+9atta boy, when fans say something right to a players face, they better expect consequences.
- rangah, on 06/28/2009, -0/+4Nobody makes a big deal out of it because everyone everywhere has to deal with *****.
When you lose your cool and assault people, it's a crime. It doesn't matter if the fan is an ***** or not.
If every tow-truck driver, repo man, meter maid, and sales people, reacted this way to ***** - the streets would be littered with bloody *****... - cuervoman914, on 06/28/2009, -3/+7dude, its baseball, its heckle central. after all this years of playing baseball, one would think the players would know how to brush ***** off; especially if you're getting paid in the millions.
- asgardshill, on 06/28/2009, -2/+6Just ignore the idiots: easy to say but hard to do.
- sketcher67, on 06/29/2009, -1/+4FTA: Eaton told the newspaper he called out to Romero after a couple of Phillies brushed off his requests for autographs, asking the pitcher to get him some steroids. After Romero told him to shut up and that he didn't know what he was talking about, Eaton said he replied that Romero was the one who'd been suspended recently.
"He reared back and kinda grazed my chin and grabbed me by the neck and threw me back," Eaton told the newspaper. "I was in shock."
Really you were in shock that someone actually tried to hit you after you insulted them. Steroids or not, the fan got what he deserved. - RobertWright, on 08/13/2009, -3/+6Trouble just follows Romero
- mwerb6, on 06/28/2009, -2/+5Fans can give but they can't take.
- rangah, on 06/28/2009, -0/+3"Douchebag harasses him" - Douchebag calls him out for being a steroid taking cheater.
- MYdigitalLUNG, on 06/28/2009, -1/+3***** em up JC!
All the haters here must be Mets fans. - goodbick, on 06/28/2009, -3/+5"HOW DARE YOU ACUSE ME OF TAKING STEROIDS! I'LL SHOW YOU..." *flies into steroid induced rage*
- bpm2000, on 06/28/2009, -2/+4I didnt know those tickets were free. You must be some kind of super fan.
- meetmeineleusis, on 06/28/2009, -2/+4Way to make the guy's case for him, Romero.
- jsindal, on 06/28/2009, -0/+2Didn't this same thing happen to Kenny Powers?
- rangah, on 06/28/2009, -0/+2You're right, that is not the time to heckle a player. Out of the kindness of their hearts they sign autographs for fans. Players deserve respect.
Cheaters do not deserve respect, Romero deserves to be heckled constantly until he retires, along with every other steroid taking 'player'. - FreddieD, on 06/29/2009, -1/+3A member of any Philadelphia-based pro sports team should be 100% immune to anything any fan says to them. You Philly fans need to work harder at toughening up your players!
- MYdigitalLUNG, on 06/29/2009, -0/+2FREE J.C.!
- Joshper85, on 06/28/2009, -1/+2More to the story
- marcb83, on 06/28/2009, -2/+3I wish MLB had a conduct policy like the NFL where players can be suspended by the league for inappropriate behavior
- holzp, on 06/28/2009, -1/+2J.C. Romero doing his best A.C. Slater.
- jankind, on 06/29/2009, -0/+1I'm calling *****. I watched this game on TV and there were no fans in attendance.
- luteslinger, on 06/28/2009, -2/+3If you insult a man to his face you had better be prepared to be beaten like Perez Hillton.
- Moonman13, on 06/28/2009, -1/+2dammit meg!
- wrestlinggeek, on 08/09/2009, -0/+1You're right and anyone who does show up...should be punched in the face!
- jankind, on 06/29/2009, -0/+1I don't know what you're talking about. Whenever we acquire a new player for any of our teams, we take them to North Philly where they are "Jumped in".
- uncertainty, on 06/28/2009, -1/+2Logic fail.
- asdf2000, on 06/29/2009, -0/+1you would think the millions of dollars he makes could help with it.
- CaptainNoPants, on 06/29/2009, -0/+1Romero can't take some 'roid talk from opposing fans. I don't see Manny or A-Rod losing their tempers. Romero just can't take it. Cheater.
- asdf2000, on 06/29/2009, -0/+1I thought heckling was a part of baseball.
- visionsofhoff, on 06/28/2009, -5/+5Ignorant
- randmcnally, on 06/28/2009, -2/+2Has he never been to a baseball game? It's part of the game get over yourself.
- MinimumEffort, on 07/01/2009, -0/+0If a customer said anything like that to me they would be gone. I would bet most businesses would put a customer in their place if they did the same thing. Why is it at some ballparks they are fine with customers being *****? The problem isn't that Romero had to deal with an *****. The problem is there is no repercussion for being an ***** in this case. There should always be repercussions for being an *****.
- MDawg957, on 06/28/2009, -6/+6He's the roid rage!
- copypastry, on 06/28/2009, -2/+2Phillies reliever?
Must be a ***** job, jerking off baseball players all day. - unconquerable, on 06/28/2009, -5/+4ROID RAGE!!!!!!!!!!
- MinimumEffort, on 06/28/2009, -1/+0I certainly wouldn't call somebody being abusive and slanderous a customer. If they were they aren't now.
Of course you can't just hit someone even if they're not a customer but sounds like I would have less respect for the fan than I do for the athlete. Unfortunately there are many athletes that take the insults and do nothing who should even get more respect but nobody hears about those cases because nobody makes a big deal out of it. - mwerb6, on 06/28/2009, -3/+2What you just said was real classy too.
- visionsofhoff, on 06/28/2009, -4/+3Alleged! Free JC Free JC.
http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_3O5TPLo229A/SWfced0N3_I/ ... - MrRabbit, on 06/28/2009, -3/+1Really.. really you idiot? Tell that to the Phillies fans who were stabbed by the gangs who went to the Dodgers games last year in the playoffs.
Moron. - MrRabbit, on 06/28/2009, -3/+1Yea.. you would. But you are clearly not one of the best in the world at what you do. So comparing yourself to someone who is is a stupid point to make.
Replaceable is not the same as irreplaceable. - mwerb6, on 06/28/2009, -2/+0Isn't there a rule where adults above the age of 25 shouldn't ask other adults for autographs? If not, there should be.
- MrRabbit, on 06/29/2009, -3/+1Assuming I care about you stupid meme fail.
