- flossdaily, on 10/29/2009, -6/+78This is going to make it very tough for the Red Sox to win the series.
- alphadoggs, on 10/29/2009, -14/+69Thanks Cliff and Chase. Let's put Yanks out of their misery quickly
- bossm4n, on 10/29/2009, -3/+56That was an awesome pitching performance. And that curve he ended the game on was just nasty--unhittable.
- deaftly, on 10/29/2009, -18/+67Phillies took apart the Stankees in every aspect, almost felt bad for them. Go Phillies! We're the champs for a reason.
- deaftly, on 10/29/2009, -0/+40Its ok man, you guys still have the Major League movies
- dscan, on 10/29/2009, -7/+47The Yankees looked like a tee-ball team out there.
Go Phightins! - bigterguy, on 10/29/2009, -3/+41As an Indians fan ... ugh ... our 2008 Cy Young award winner beat our 2007 Cy Young Award winner. There is anger at the sports gods who ordered up another kind of special humiliation for us Cleveland fans.
- sprotacular, on 10/29/2009, -14/+44***** the Yankees.
- schniff, on 10/29/2009, -6/+33As a Phillies fan, the next championship is so close i can smell the beer and piss in the streets.
- JoeHague, on 10/29/2009, -2/+25Cliff was ***** ice in the post game interview. I've never seen a player so totally un-phased after dominating a World Series game against the Yankees or any other team for that matter/
- pervy_the_clown, on 10/29/2009, -3/+26As a Mets fan...this world series is killing me
- viserov, on 10/29/2009, -0/+23Dear Chase,
I feel like I can call you Chase because you and me are so much alike. I would love to meet you someday, it would be great to have a catch. I know I can’t throw as fast as you, but I think you would be impressed with my speed. I love your hair. You run fast. Did you have a good relationship with your father? Me neither. These are all things we can talk about, and more. I know you have not been getting my letters because I know you would write back if you did. And I hope you write back this time and we get to be good friends. I am sure our relationship would be a real home run. - eavesdrop, on 10/29/2009, -5/+23Sweep!
- RussLieber, on 10/29/2009, -1/+18don't give up hope you never know crazier things have happened, hell a black man is our president
- badwithcomputer, on 10/29/2009, -2/+18http://imgur.com/5q4bZ.jpg
- the2989, on 10/29/2009, -7/+22That game sucked, I was hoping the Yankees would get completely shutout.
- subtheorist, on 10/29/2009, -2/+16Its ok man, you guys still have the Browns.
Oh....wait... - pedrothefish, on 10/29/2009, -2/+15HA! Sour grapes.
- efitz11, on 10/29/2009, -0/+11its called dip and sunflower seeds.
- lnxfi, on 10/29/2009, -0/+11you forgot victorino and howard...
- lnxfi, on 10/29/2009, -0/+11Seriously... if i wasn't for that one play.. oh wait. it was 6-1 at the end.. My bad.
- aparker813, on 10/29/2009, -0/+10Time to ready the riot punch, anytime there is potential for a riot I'm drinking grain alcohol.
- badwithcomputer, on 10/29/2009, -0/+10it's from game 5 of the nlcs against the dodgers. someone in philly decided to dress up as greenman and got on tv a few times.
in a mildly related story, i saw someone rip off their clothes to reveal a greenman costume on 8/3/09 at dodger stadium. he got on the jumbotron and recieved massive applause as he danced around in his seat. he was then was promptly kicked out by security. - Captj, on 10/29/2009, -0/+9And Greenman, if you don't know, is from It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia.
And yeah, watching that game and seeing him...I was dying every time. <3 Sunny.
Also, it was very appropriate that the Sunny episode that followed was about when the Phillies won the World Series last year. - Captj, on 10/29/2009, -1/+9Oh yeah, b/c the Yankee's totally held us to such a close game.
Our bats were on fire, our started was on fire. Your batters were iced, your pitchers all blew.
Don't try so hard to make it seem like a close game. - defteats, on 10/29/2009, -6/+14***** the Yankees.
Go Phillies! - tcquad, on 10/29/2009, -4/+12Cliff Lee is their ace and pitched like one. 10 strikeouts, only one looking (Nick Swisher in the 8th). They were swinging and missing, which is unexpected considering how hot their hitters have been lately.
The Phillies really needed this win, though: the next two games will feature pitching by the reanimated body of Pedro Martinez and Cole Hamels, who has a losing record. - Captj, on 10/29/2009, -0/+8Haha, I must say there was more spitting in this game than any I've ever seen. How about when they kept the camera on the one reliever who spat for like 3 minutes straight?
- AiR1890, on 10/29/2009, -5/+13Go Phils!
- bigmrjohn, on 10/29/2009, -1/+9***** YES! Lee is the best pickup the Phils have made in a long time. Roy Halla-who?
- miquonranger031, on 10/29/2009, -0/+8That's what men do. Because...uh...sharing bodily fluids is manly.
- SlothAnus, on 10/29/2009, -6/+14This was the first time I've ever watched a baseball game in HD. It was the most disgusting experience ever. It seemed like the players, coaches and everyone else were spitting at all times. Spitting on themselves, other people and just... why do they spit so much?
- mrchicot, on 10/29/2009, -0/+711 of the last 12 game one winners have gone on to win the series...so yeah, it is "pretty much" nothing i guess
- JCH897, on 10/29/2009, -0/+7I think he's getting buried cause he said he's a Yankees fan. Anyone notice how many empty seats there were in the stadium during the last inning? Those people call themselves "fans" too? From the faux-fanbase to the overpaid and bought players, the Yanks are the fakest team out there.
- akpotato, on 10/29/2009, -0/+7The look on his face catching that pop-out was the best, and the grab behind the back was absolutely perfect. He made it all look so easy.
- ThraxyWaxy, on 10/29/2009, -2/+9Just thought I'd give props to Lee for his defense too. Catching the pop-out without leaving the mound and the great grab behind the back. Go Phillies!
- SPRFRKR, on 10/29/2009, -0/+7Dear Chase, I ain't mad - I just think it's f'd up you don't answer fans
If you didn't wanna talk to me outside Yankees Stadium
you didn't have to, but you coulda signed an autograph for Matthew
That's my little brother man, he's only six years old
We waited in the blistering cold for you,
four hours and you just said, "No." - JCH897, on 10/29/2009, -0/+6Then again, you're talking about the same guy who can just stand there and casually catch one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=69SUdVw-LvY
The guy probably bleeds Xanax. Good for him! - BaronVonTito, on 10/29/2009, -0/+6We are the only fans that can get a nightmare series like this. Yankees fans would root for us if we faced the Sox. Cubs fans would root for the White Sox if they were against the Cardinals. It wasn't bad enough that we have an incompetently run/managed team; we get to hate two teams, and they're the best teams in baseball.
- miquonranger031, on 10/29/2009, -1/+7You, before the game: YEAH YANKEES WE NEED THIS GO DO IT!
You, after the game: Oh, that didn't matter. - stabile007, on 10/29/2009, -0/+6I am pretty sure (being that I live in Philadelphia too) that is how this city usually always smells...
- homer524, on 10/29/2009, -0/+6you forgot rauuuuuul
- brownsound00, on 10/29/2009, -0/+6it's more just spitting sunflower seeds. once you start chewing sunflower seeds... you can't stop. it takes me a good month after summer baseball to stop chewing sunflower seeds.
and then there's chewing tobacco... - lnxfi, on 10/29/2009, -7/+13One down. Let's get 3 more.
Phillies in game 6.
Bombers is a good name for the Yankees. - inactive, on 10/29/2009, -0/+5Haha, details?
- furcht, on 10/29/2009, -4/+9Actually... it's going to take at least four, but it might go six or seven.
- pszajna, on 10/29/2009, -0/+4haha, now that's my kinda phillies fan. makes me miss pennsylvania...
- Kazbaeden, on 10/29/2009, -0/+4It's nice for us Phillies fans because it shuts down all the tough talk coming from NY. Not only did we win, but it was almost a complete shut out. You can't say much after that.
- Strongo, on 10/29/2009, -0/+4RIOT JUICEEEE
- roxgod666, on 10/29/2009, -0/+4Money can't buy you everything, douchebag skankees.
