- inactive, on 03/01/2009, -0/+8As a Mets fan, I couldn't be happier with Santana. The bullpen blew so many saves for him last year it's not even funny, and he did everything humanly possible to help us win. The choke job was not his fault.
I'm not worried yet because apparently he was throwing more than usual this pre-season to test out his surgically repaired knee. The knee is fine, but this tired out his elbow a bit. I'll take missing one or two starts if he stays healthy the whole year.
Of course, if he gets hurt and misses a big part of the year, then the season is finished :( - Hockey13, on 03/01/2009, -1/+9Maybe they should pick up a useless, aged veteran and pin their title hopes on his jersey-selling name.
/bitter Mets fan - Xmoneyx9, on 02/28/2009, -3/+10As a Mets fan, I hope he's back before Opening Day.
- homesnatch, on 03/01/2009, -0/+5or maybe Pedro?
- Truth3, on 03/01/2009, -0/+5The Mets can live without Sanata for a couple of starts. He needs to be healthy, their offensive lineup is mega explosive in the grapefruit league right now, they just need to continue the trend. Last year everyone was talking about their bullpen, but as a fan who watched the majority of their games, they need to score with runners in scoring position. Every game their were loads of people on 2nd and 3rd and they failed to bring them home.
- Carsonauto, on 03/01/2009, -0/+5I never actually liked Santana's mechanics.
Beast of a pitcher though. His changeup is legendary. - Eric1285, on 03/01/2009, -0/+4In case you didn't know, it's the national pastime. If you don't like baseball you're a terrorist.
- multifoiled, on 03/01/2009, -0/+3Pelfrey looks really good, Maine and Perez are solid, we'll see about the 5th starter? Niese? Redding? Livan? Lot of questions there, but other than the Phillies, who they have to worry about?
- ThePastafarian, on 03/01/2009, -0/+3no
- stellarceltic, on 03/01/2009, -0/+2Rooting? I'd rather kill myself than root for those douchebags.
- SmooveO, on 03/01/2009, -0/+2time to sign manny ramirez..

...yeah, i'd say people still watch baseball. - inactive, on 03/01/2009, -0/+2Yeah, because Phil Hughes and Ian Kennedy worked out so well for the Yankees last season.
- ChunnelTV, on 03/01/2009, -0/+2Hope he comes back soon. It would be great to start the year with a good record in a new stadium (especially after we're paying such a premium on tix this year)
- Eric1285, on 03/01/2009, -0/+1I'm not that worried. It won't be a big deal if he misses a start or two, or even if he starts the year on the 15-day DL. This is why we have 3-4 pitchers contending for the 5th spot - so someone can fill in when there's an injury.
Sure, it'd be great to have Johan make 35 starts in a season. Is the difference between 30 and 35 starts going to cost us a chance at the postseason? Not likely. - homesnatch, on 03/01/2009, -0/+1I hear Pedro Martinez is still available. :-\
- jocknerd, on 03/01/2009, -1/+2Great. The Mets have a #1 and 4 #4 starters. Huge dropoff after Santana to the next pitcher. Without him, this team will finish 4th in the division.
- inactive, on 02/28/2009, -8/+9FFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
- Bull985, on 03/01/2009, -0/+1I'd be in absolute shambles if the mets were to lose Santana.
- acdcfanbill, on 03/01/2009, -0/+1As a Twins fan, I was sorry to see him leave.
- Eric1285, on 03/01/2009, -0/+1Livan looked good in his 2 innings yesterday. Freddy looked downright awful though. I'm hoping Maine gets his curveball back...should help him cut his pitch count down and return to his 2007 form. Hopefully we get the second half version of Pelfrey for the full year.
- hawksfan03, on 03/01/2009, -0/+1good thing i kept him from last years fantasy team
- DirtPile, on 03/01/2009, -1/+2...just like your comments!

- ArmedNDangerous, on 03/01/2009, -1/+1Pretty blatantly obvious comment. He's the best pitcher in baseball.
- inactive, on 03/01/2009, -1/+1C4...Manny was never a Met, so why would a Mets fan be bitter about that?
homesnatch...Pedro gave the Mets several solid seasons. Definitely NOT a bad signing. - C4Strife, on 03/01/2009, -2/+1I think he was making a joke about Manny....
- boomfrag, on 03/01/2009, -1/+0Might be some Mets fans routing for the Yankees soon
- inactive, on 03/01/2009, -3/+2Learn a bit about baseball before you call Santana useless and aged. The guy led the majors in ERA last year for crying out loud. He's also only 29 years old.
A real Mets fan blames the bullpen, not Santana. - Loustechworld, on 03/01/2009, -2/+0Mets have made me a believer ( in VOODOO!!! )
- inactive, on 03/01/2009, -2/+0hockey...were you honestly referring to Santana in your comment?
- DirtPile, on 03/01/2009, -3/+1sad.
