- jba68, on 11/11/2008, -0/+5The only reason that the owners of Baseball dont want him to own a team, is they are afraid of new blood in baseball. Cuban would straight up tell them what they are doing to ruin baseball and they are afraid of him speaking his mind. I dont know what the problem would be with him owning the team. He may be irritating, but as an owner he does what he can to get his team to be successful. Unfortunately it looks like the mavs have missed their window....
Baseball is suffering at the hands of Selig. - tombofdoom, on 11/11/2008, -2/+6Let him! He made an irrelevant team in Dallas fun to watch and secured them a spot on Sportscenter every day. The Cubs don't need to extra media attention, that's for sure, but they do need an owner who can inspire the fans to believe. Cuban has that quality.
http://tombofdoom.blogspot.com - centran, on 11/11/2008, -0/+3It is a good long term investment. The cubs are one of the few teams that routinely have good attendance no matter how they are playing.
- wardy22, on 11/12/2008, -1/+4Mark.... Buy the Pirates.... PLEASE!!!!
- inactive, on 11/11/2008, -0/+3I think this town would go nuts if he could pull this off. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like he will
- dracostimpy, on 11/11/2008, -2/+4Keep up the good fight, Mark! We Cub fans don't need another tightwad prick running our team - we'd be perfectly happy with a loosewad prick like yourself!
- WakasakiRocky, on 11/12/2008, -0/+2Why would he want to buy the Cubs and the New York Times?
- illinoise89, on 11/12/2008, -0/+2I guarantee Cuban would win them a Series much faster than any other owner could. Reason? He gives a ***** about his teams. Tribune Co. was content to sit on their investment and turn the Cubs into a heavily commercialized phenomenon, but they never actually pulled out all the stops and demanded success.
- PxCxG, on 11/12/2008, -0/+2Mark is the best owner in sports because he's just like you and me (except with tons of money). If I owned a basketball team, you betcha I'd be down shooting around with my players after practice!
- BlatheringIdiot, on 11/12/2008, -0/+1I know- Monica Lewinsky said that?
- Linguo, on 11/12/2008, -0/+1haha you still can't have them...jackass.
- BlatheringIdiot, on 11/12/2008, -0/+1Hey Mark- Call Jerry- He has a team in Chicago that he would sell for a $Billion.
- eavesdrop, on 11/12/2008, -0/+1There's something wrong with a potential owner wanting a championship?
- L0NER, on 11/12/2008, -0/+1Cub-an fan!
- Fleagleman, on 11/12/2008, -1/+2Cuban has been desperate for a championship so he can take all the credit. Now that the Mavs aren't going to get him one, he's moving on...to the Cubs? Seriously? Do you know anything about baseball?
Actually, he probably just wants to be a part of it if, for some miraculous reason, they actually win a championship. Then, he can live vicariously through Chicaco and, of course, be praised as a savior - wally40, on 11/11/2008, -1/+1You had to meet him, sorry to hear that!
- inactive, on 11/11/2008, -1/+1Heh, everyone the only way a loudmouth blow-hard can get a big league baseball team is to inherit it.
- AmericansRevolt, on 11/12/2008, -0/+0what fleagleman was implying that cuban will jump ship to a successful franchise if it gets him closer to fame. if that is the case, then yes thats a situation where it is a problem.
- AmericansRevolt, on 11/12/2008, -0/+0everyone should be digging this comment. it is precisely true. im pretty sure its already been a UNANIMOUS decision by all teams owners that cuban will NEVER own the cubs or any baseball team for that matter.
- AmericansRevolt, on 11/12/2008, -0/+0***** cuban.
- inactive, on 11/11/2008, -3/+2***** mark cuban and his brother who spams digg all day long that *****
- TenaciousDnj, on 11/11/2008, -1/+0this article isn't really saying anything new...
- scoottie, on 11/11/2008, -2/+1too bad mark.
i hope he doesnt get the cubs he is such an annoying prick - Trekhawk, on 11/11/2008, -3/+2Stop it Mark. Go play with your other toys for a while.
- inactive, on 11/11/2008, -5/+3Mark Cuban is the most annoying and dumbest person I have never met.
