- chawkie, on 01/30/2008, -0/+12I am a die hard Minnesota fan and this is just the icing on the cake. First Garnett for garbage and now this piece of ***** ***** horrible, horrible trade. Who wants Adrian Peterson...everything must go!
- timothy53, on 01/30/2008, -1/+6Being a Yankee Fan, I can't be more excited. I am not signing/trading for another pitcher. Santana Wants 140 million for 7 years. We have done things like this in the past, which have given us Mussina, Pavano, Wells, Clemens....etc. This year we are sticking with the young guns, Chamberlain, Kennedy, and Hughes. Girardi is the right man for the job, Look at what he did with young pitching in Florida, El Duque for instance. The yankees avoided losing money, and young pitchers while keeping a great pitcher out of the A.L. East. Good job Cashman.
- Rethcir, on 01/30/2008, -0/+4This is great for the AL East. Johan is great, but in my sentimental heart, it'll still be really fun watching the young talent in Boston, NY and Tampa fight it out over the next few years.
- TimmyGUNZ, on 01/30/2008, -3/+7As a Yankee fan, all I can say is THANK GOD. I don't care how good he is, I don't want to see him traded for Hughes, Kennedy and Melky, on top of shelling out $150 Mill for an extension. I'd rather the Yankees miss the playoffs and develop their young talent than go out and spend the farm (literally) on another hired gun, even if he is arguably the best pitcher in baseball. (How many rings have the Twins won with him????
- TimmyGUNZ, on 01/30/2008, -0/+4Until about May when Pedro is on the DL for 5 months.
- plashricrem, on 01/30/2008, -1/+5Johan and Pedro 1 and 2 at the top of the rotation will make the Mets the class of the N.L.
- iPood, on 01/30/2008, -0/+3I wouldn't count on Pedro being a viable number 2 for very long...
- TimmyGUNZ, on 01/30/2008, -0/+3Let's not forget the fact that Dave Eiland is the new pitching coach; the guy who helped develop Hughes, Kennedy & Chamberlain in Scranton. :)
- unkle, on 01/30/2008, -0/+3i think brandon webb and dan haren have something to say about that
- jpe81, on 01/30/2008, -1/+3....El Duque for instance????
- blacknred0, on 01/30/2008, -0/+2i think the mets should invest in more revilers than any thing else, after this trade
- Aero1, on 01/30/2008, -3/+5LETS GO METS!!!!!!
- Rethcir, on 01/30/2008, -1/+3Youkilis won't be missing any ground balls at 1st. 190 straight errorless regular-season games.
- iPood, on 01/30/2008, -0/+2Pretty sure the Mets are going to do all they can to extend his contract. In fact, if they don't extend his contract within 72 hours, he is not going anywhere. So the chances of him leaving the Mets after one season...pretty non-existent.
- tellyousomeday, on 01/30/2008, -0/+2The Mets now have Pedro and Santana. This is Minaya's smartest move since the Beltran deal. (That's not saying too much, though.)
- BreakingBnj, on 01/30/2008, -0/+2No Vlad, No A-rod, No Zito, No nothing.
Finally, we get something worth while that goes beyond rumors. - iPood, on 01/30/2008, -0/+2Not to burst your bubble, but I wouldn't expect much from Pedro, he's a different pitcher now. And no, I'm not saying this because I'm a Yankee fan. My days of hating Pedro's guts are long gone. I just think the Mets have seen the best of what Pedro is going to do for their team.
- unkle, on 01/30/2008, -0/+2blame your gm, santana should have been dealt before haren was. time was against the twins hear. you should blame santana if he actually forced the trade
- iPood, on 01/30/2008, -0/+2They should still go after Livan Hernandez and put El Duque in the bullpen.
- iPood, on 01/30/2008, -0/+2Couldn't have said it better myself. It's not that I didn't want the guy, because he is a great pitcher, but I REALLY didn't want to give away all of that young talent. Just think of how insane their rotation can be with Joba, Hughes, and Kennedy. It was looking like they were finally steering away from getting these overpriced, aging pitchers, but then they were heavy in to the Santana talks. That scared me. And it's also a huge plus that he left the American League completely.
- endustry, on 01/30/2008, -0/+2Let's hope he doesn't break something in his second season for the Mets like Pedro did.
- indyjb, on 01/30/2008, -0/+1Lets first hope he doesn't break something first season.
- allrecordsalex, on 01/30/2008, -1/+2finally omar, jesus
- cobrapeed, on 01/30/2008, -1/+2Let's count all the All Stars Minnesota teams have dealt in the past few years for absolute *****:
Randy Moss, Kevin Garnett, Torri Hunter, Johan Santana, Dwayne Roloson... - h2g242, on 01/30/2008, -1/+2Can't wait til he walks away from them at the end of the year and the Mets are left with nothing...
FIGHTIN PHILLLSSS - jpe81, on 01/30/2008, -3/+3phuck the phillies
- FloorModel, on 01/30/2008, -1/+1I own him, and Mulvey, in my fantasy league..this shouldn't hurt me too badly.
- hackattaq, on 01/30/2008, -1/+1If Omar does not sign the guy to extension I will break his legs.
- tip_10032, on 01/30/2008, -4/+2Its over Mets vs DiamondBack NLCS. Mets beat the BoSox in the World SEries 1986!!! I believe!!!!
