- pkoszulinski, on 05/04/2009, -0/+12did anyone else's flip through every rivalry faster than the pages can load?
- TheJimid, on 05/04/2009, -7/+19Sox-Yankees all day. Anything else is just madness.
- JoeHague, on 05/04/2009, -0/+12Phillies- Pirates the *****?
- fissionignition, on 05/04/2009, -1/+6#8 should be Albert Pujols vs. Astros...
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a398/username690 ... - onechordwonder, on 05/04/2009, -0/+3Phillies - Mets has to be a much more intense rivalry than Forbes makes it out to be, check out the ESPN conversation pages,or better yet, go to Citi Field in Phillies apparel. I didn't even know that there was a Phils - Pirates rivalry
- andypop481, on 05/04/2009, -1/+4I don't know how you can mention the white sox twice and not include the CWS-CHC rivalry. If these two teams ever faced off in the world series, a half of Chicago would burn at whichever outcome.
- fandyllic, on 05/04/2009, -0/+3Ha ha ha. You're so right. Phillies just won the World Series and the Pirates struggle not to finish last in their division every season. They don't even play in the same division!
By that standard they should have put St. Louis vs. Kansas City as a top rivalry, since like the Phillies and Pirates, they are in the same state. Forbes is retarded. - AJShoes9789, on 05/04/2009, -2/+5Very dissapointed to not see Cubs Vs. White Sox. Cmon, White sox fans shoot Cub fans for fun. There just mad cause Cubs are the ***** and cause our pitchers do their job and hit as well. ***** AL!
- wdw25, on 05/04/2009, -0/+3madness??
THIS IS SPARTA!!!
*kicks jimid in the chest* - jiqiren, on 05/04/2009, -0/+3Why? Giants / Dodgers have greatest ticket markup. How are you doing a comparison?
- Jonjonr6, on 05/04/2009, -0/+3#1 Forbes vs any sensible site that doesn't use a damn timer on their articles.
- test5477, on 05/04/2009, -5/+8buried for not having Sox / Yanks at #1.
Giants / Dodgers would be #1 is it was 1962 - Bologner, on 05/04/2009, -0/+2I will never forget Game 5 of the 2005 NLCS.
- FreddieD, on 05/04/2009, -0/+2Not only do they sell both parks every game, but the stadiums are half filled with the opposing team's fans. Both cities are incredibly passionate about the sport. To say that it's lower on the list just because one of the teams hasn't had much success is pure *****. Can we say that the Army-Navy game is not a good rivalry if one of the teams is not usually nationally ranked? Of course not.
- kenlaw, on 05/04/2009, -0/+2Card and Cubs should have been #2. Try and get tickets for any of the Cards/Cubs games. They sellout both parks every single game.
Cards and Houston what rivalry. Should not be on the list. - benderillo, on 05/04/2009, -3/+5No Brewers/Cubs?
Buried. - stev31h, on 05/04/2009, -0/+2ugh. that's just the only crowd that can afford the tickets. the real fans sit in the bleachers (or dont go) at both stadiums and everyone knows that
- JoeHague, on 05/04/2009, -1/+3IDK I lived in Philly, I lived in SF- west coast baseball in general is way less intense then east coast baseball. I do agree with your ***** the DH stance. Phillies v Mets is the best rivalry in baseball right now if you asked me.
- clyentnine, on 05/05/2009, -0/+1Cubs/Cards is the classic rivalry.
- turbodiesel, on 05/04/2009, -2/+3Dodgers-Giants by far. Marichal hitting Roseboro in the head with a bat, fans attacked in parking lots ,teams knocking each other out of playoffs multiple times.
All Red Sox Yankees have going for them is the ESPN hype machine.
Also, the GIANTS SUCK! - FreddieD, on 05/04/2009, -0/+1Believe it or not, that blast in the 2005 NLCS ended up winning the world series for the Cardinals one year later. It's safe to say that this home run really ***** Lidge up for a couple of years, and people forget that just before the 2006 regular season ended, the Cardinals were on the verge of an epic collapse, blowing an 8 game lead late in the season to the Astros. Had they had "Lights Out Lidge" the whole season and not blown so many games in the first half, they would have definitely overtaken the Cardinals and won the division.
And by the way, while I have no ill will towards the Astros or their fans, ***** that stadium. Goofy gadget stadiums like that with a 310' left field, a 900' center field and a ***** flag pole *on* the field need to be torn down. - slvrbullet87, on 05/04/2009, -0/+1it wouldnt be so bad if they didnt set the timer to 3 seconds
- neiph, on 05/04/2009, -2/+3Wikipedia notes that the writer is from SF. Biased?
No way Giants/Dodgers is best rivalry in baseball when Sox/Yankees is probably the biggest rivalry in ALL sports (or near the very very very top). - AaronGNP, on 05/04/2009, -1/+2A's and White Sox? Are you F'n kidding me? The Twins/White Sox rivalry is WAY bigger.
- jumbobrian, on 05/05/2009, -0/+1Nope, I stopped when I got to the team I was interested in, which was one of the two on the first page.
And I didn't know that my team was even rivals with the other. Some fan I am, apparently. - deejqu1k, on 05/04/2009, -0/+1There has been a ton of violence between the A's and Angels over the last decade. Also all the games are 1 run games. They defintley should be top 10.
- catchbigd22, on 05/04/2009, -0/+1Perhaps two separate lists should be compiled? One for more recent years in which the Phils- Mets would be in the top 2 and then history all together which would be pretty much this list.
Another thing, the stat for ticket mark ups... are they for what the organization assigns or from a reseller. There are still a few teams in baseball that do not mark up tickets for certain games. Like the Phils. - FreddieD, on 05/04/2009, -1/+2The Brewers weren't even in the same *league* until recently, so it's tough to call that a real rivalry. That would be like calling the Cardinals and Royals a real rivalry.
- inactive, on 05/04/2009, -1/+1Orioles / Yankees / Sox ???
- Bologner, on 05/04/2009, -2/+2You kidding me? That's like the 2 runts of the litter battling it out for the last tit. I'm from Wisconsin and that "rivalry" sucks! Until the last 3 or 4 years, both teams are perennial losers.
- inactive, on 05/04/2009, -1/+0Right off hte top of my head I can see an inaccuracy in this article. The Mets/Phillies have had four 1-2 division finishes. the last three years, plus 1986. Granted, in 1986 the Phillies were 21.5 games behind, but it was still a 1-2 division finish.
And sorry...if they can't do simple fact checking, I can't take them seriously. - fandyllic, on 05/04/2009, -9/+8Only dugg for #1. Yankees-Red Sox is for wusses. That isn't even baseball, since pitchers don't hit. Watch real baseball. Ban the DH!
- MichaelCorleone, on 05/04/2009, -6/+5ERRONEOUS! ERRONEOUS! ERRONEOUS ON ALL ACCOUNTS!
Yankees-Red Sox is the most passionate rivalry, hands down. - cupajoe60, on 05/04/2009, -2/+1Duck the Fodgers.
- Bologner, on 05/04/2009, -4/+2***** Boston and New York. I was a Boston fan in 2002-2004 and I jumped the bandwagon as soon as I could. The fans are a bunch of guido idiots.
