Fake Umps Phenomenon Follows Blue Jays on Road Trip

mlb.fanhouse.com — For the first time this weekend, fake umpires Tim Williams and Joe Farrell took their show onto American soil. "There are 7 billion people on the planet. Do you know how many of them travel to another city to fake umpire a game? You're looking at 'em," Williams tells FanHouse Friday night at Nationals Park.

It's not what they do (act like Leslie Nelson in Naked Gun 2 1/2), it's that they do it with so much enthusiasm...FOR THE ENTIRE GAME. By the 9th inning, the announcers and my friends all, laughing our asses off.

  • Jeffler, on 06/22/2009, -1/+3LOL at over $300 for front row Leafs tickets, Nephersir7. I won 5th row seats once, their ticket price is $464 each. Front row if you are lucky enough to have them are at least that price. And thats if you're not buying on ebay or through a scalper.

    ***** Leafs, the only city that could have a non-playoff team for 5 years and a bottom 10 team for the last 2 and yet have by far the highest prices for tickets in the NHL ($108 per on average, #2 is Vancouver at $71)

    it's bad enough we have to listen to jamie campbell call the game, watch vernon wells not earn his money, and the jays get beaten by the sox and the yanks - but now this crap?

    Geography aside, there -is- a definitive bias towards the NY and Boston over even other US teams.

They actually got invited onto the field and did a routine with the people dressed in giant president costumes, it was hysterical. I feel sorry for the people sitting behind them at the games, but they definitely make the games more fun.
