- quakeIII, on 10/26/2009, -5/+38Being young and all, I should be the one enjoying her 22 year old vagina.

Dude needed glasses in a bad way.
- tman84, on 10/26/2009, -0/+23Get caught with used crack pipe in your car like Michael Irvin and you can work for ESPN
Bang fatty and you get fired - Boogalou007, on 10/26/2009, -4/+20At least he got to nail a smoking hot 22 year old. There are worse ways to get fired.

WTF is wrong with this man! - iLemon, on 10/26/2009, -0/+15They send Steve Phillips packing and not the crazy fatal attraction bitch?
- inevitablity, on 10/26/2009, -2/+15This is ridiculous, these are two consenting adults what goes on in their personal lives should have NO bearing on keeping one's job. This puritanical witch hunt ***** that goes on whenever someone gets caught having an affair needs to stop.
- vtnerd, on 10/26/2009, -0/+13If they had been equals in the workplace (or even in completely different departments) it likely would not matter, but as a boss you cannot have these kinds of relationships with the people you supervise. If you do, you definitely can't threaten to fire them for telling your wife.
- krahzee, on 10/26/2009, -0/+9inevitability you assume that this is a normal workplace. It's not.
His obligations to ESPN ( & theirs to him) are dictated by the terms of a contract negotiated in good faith. He agrees to abide by certain standards and provide his expertise for a certain period of time in return for which they pay him a very large amount of money.
Steve of all people knows how this goes: Pro Sports contracts are full of all sort of language banning activities such as motorcycles, sky diving, etc... While this is more of a workplace /moral contract the concept is the same. He agreed to uphold this when he signed his deal. Nobody forced him to take the contract.
Remember, to ESPN his value is greatly diminished if his reputation is tarnished in any way. That's what he gets paid for. His reputation and knowledge as a baseball man, along with his ability to convey that in an articulate manor.
Sure there is a moral aspect here: He got caught having an affair. However its how his violation of that clause effected the workplace and his value as an employee that ESPN is concerned about.
Ask yourself this: Is ESPN (specifically Baseball Tonight) an easier place to work with or without him there at the moment? Are the remaining employees (most notably those behind the camera) more comfortable without this hanging in the air? - RealmDown, on 10/26/2009, -0/+8Probably because she has already slept with someone in HR, and they know better than to fire her.
- Cyberdactyl, on 10/26/2009, -1/+7Let me put to ya this way Boogalou, if you consider Brooke Hundley "Smoking Hot", any North eastern corner bar is your fantasy come true.
- Fleagleman, on 10/26/2009, -0/+5He could. go. all. the. way...to the unemployment line.
- parabola9, on 10/26/2009, -4/+9His wife vajin hang like sleeve of wizard.
- Rollwit2002, on 10/26/2009, -1/+5As a Met fan I can only experience some shotenfroyda. This is the same jack ass who ran the Mets into the ground, and fired the great Bobby Valentine. The only other people who can feel my pain watching this guy on TV are the Lion's fans with Matt Millen.
I have nothing to cheer for this world series, but Phillips going into the tank. Man she was a pig too. - sgerwel1985, on 10/26/2009, -1/+5Why is it men are the ones always punished for this crap?
- joltcola, on 10/26/2009, -0/+4It makes sense, he's the on air guy and thats all people will think of when they see him broadcasting. She'll probably be let go too sometime.
- icexe, on 10/26/2009, -0/+3WTF.. is that the same chick in all those pictures? I'm seeing a huge disconcerting range that goes from pretty cute to downright homely.
- plainOldFool, on 10/26/2009, -0/+3I'm gonna argue they got to the playoffs because of Bobby V, not Phillips.
- bmw7777, on 10/26/2009, -2/+5Was he good at the job he did?? If yes, keep him. If no, fire him. What does banging a 22 yo have ANYTHING to do with his job. It's his own private life and as long as he managed his job well between the sex and cheating on his wife it is NOT the business of ESPN. It is the wife and family that should be offended by this, not ESPN. Typical ***** like always. Wanting to impeach Clinton over a blowjob, but not touching Bush for causing 2 useless wars.
- RealmDown, on 10/26/2009, -0/+3strike out
- wolfmann, on 10/26/2009, -0/+3Schadenfreude? your german is a bit off ;-)
- Rejeckted, on 10/26/2009, -0/+2home run
- plainOldFool, on 10/26/2009, -0/+2And see how that talent performed under Art Howe.
- method7670, on 10/26/2009, -1/+3Congrats Steve Philips..
You are a TOOL! - holzp, on 10/26/2009, -0/+2I believe it was a fish taco.
- krahzee, on 10/26/2009, -0/+2As a Mets fan I hear you.
That said at least they got to the playoffs under Steve. Millen brought a whole new level of suck to sports. - krahzee, on 10/26/2009, -0/+2To an extent it was Bobby V. Don't forget though, he was the one who traded for Piazza and brought guys like Ventura an Leiter in as free agents. Players all part of the 2000 WS team. So credit is due there.
- Rollwit2002, on 10/26/2009, -0/+2Jawoll
- kook321, on 10/26/2009, -0/+2oh...you just haven't seen his wife yet. GOBLIN
- holzp, on 10/26/2009, -0/+2Myspace is like digital beer goggles.
- Locupleto, on 10/26/2009, -0/+2ESPN has a problem with a good old-fashioned home run?
- Kate1240, on 10/26/2009, -0/+2I guarantee, his replacement will be a woman.
- macfanboi, on 10/26/2009, -0/+2Married Guy #1 Rule
Just because she's a slob doesn't mean she won't go psycho on your ass. - Rejeckted, on 10/26/2009, -0/+2Cyberdactyl speaks the truth.
- mustache, on 10/26/2009, -0/+2Have you ever been to Myspace?
- RealmDown, on 10/26/2009, -0/+2Only if you put her on the stove.
- cuervoman914, on 10/26/2009, -0/+2OMGGGGG.....talk about a cackle
- Insightful, on 10/26/2009, -0/+1Yes I agree with that what consenting adults do is their own business but I can think of two cases where this does not apply:
1. Workplace. Employer has no right to enforce you to NOT ***** whoever you want, be it your boss or your assistant. However, the employer has every right to fire you if you do assuming you do not have a contract and most of us do not. The employer is being exposed to legal liability due to your actions and most employers can fire without cause or for non-illegal reasons (maternity, discrimination, tours of duty, etc)
2. When the adult doing it is preaching family values but is having extramarital affair with a married lobbyist (such as OC Republican Mike Duvall).
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_D._Duvall - kasjogren, on 10/26/2009, -0/+1If you fire Harold Reynolds you have to fire this guy.
- gowingsgo, on 10/26/2009, -0/+1Sorry, that would be under the "not so top 10" part of the show.
- bnk1310, on 10/26/2009, -0/+1This will fix bosses cheating with their interns ONCE AND FOR ALL.
- lostinseganet, on 10/26/2009, -0/+1well is she office hot?...or not.
- TySchwab23, on 10/26/2009, -0/+1dont understand how he got a job in the first place. he failed miserably as the NY Mets GM. taking advice from him is like asking an infant what car you should buy.
then again i guess ESPN will hire any deadbeat GM they can get their hands on (cough Matt Millen cough) - beetrixi, on 10/26/2009, -0/+1All these married man who have affairs--- have they never seen Fatal Attraction?
- reuscel, on 10/26/2009, -0/+1I look that way too.
It beats being a virgin, though. - TheEighth, on 10/26/2009, -1/+2As a fan of educated insightful sports commentary, I am truly uplifted with celebration to hear that Steve Phillips will no longer be polluting sports television with the vomitous idiocy that he had so freely and disgustingly expulsed. This is a great day. Steve Phillips is ***** retarded.
- inactive, on 10/27/2009, -0/+1Oh, so I guess it makes it ok that the leach Letterman "owns" the show for him to violate "harassment" policy? It's another double standard...Letterman has "lots of money, power and influence, the ESPN guy does not
- mustache, on 10/26/2009, -0/+1"He could go all the way" reference: Football
Steve Phillips: Baseball
Fleagleman: Sports comment fail
Maybe something else would work, like:
Back Back Back Back to the unemployment line! - mustache, on 10/27/2009, -0/+1Exactly - Don't you know this is America? Accumulate enough money and fame and you can get away with almost anything. That said, both of these guys entered into consensual relationships. Neither applies to "harrassment" policies. If anything, this girl harrassed Steve Phillips by writing letters to his wife and threatening his children. As much as maybe you'd like it to be, cheating on your wife is not illegal in this country, nor is it against any companies policy.
- Fleagleman, on 10/26/2009, -0/+1Welcome to the world of the married man. Looks have nothing to do with it. She's young and new, and that's all he cares about. Even a guy who eats lobster every day will want a fish stick every now and then just to mix it up a bit.
