- ether3a1, on 12/06/2008, -1/+7I can only hope that they wise up and pick someone who doesn't just treat it as a business commodity and cares about the team and the game and their success and failure...
If I had a billion dollars... and I'm not even a Cubs fan... - cadebbie, on 12/07/2008, -1/+6My only fear is someone would try and move the team. I hope that staying in Chicago and WRIGLEY field is a condition specified in the sale.
- dakilla91, on 12/07/2008, -1/+5As a Chicagoan I don't care who the winning bidder is. All I care about is that the team and the field stick together.
- mindpuzzle, on 12/06/2008, -2/+5Chicago needs a winner.
- XISUPERMANIX, on 12/07/2008, -0/+3Don't even worry about it, nobody is that stupid to move a team like the Cubs. Not only will they probably be the most hated person since Bartman (who received lots of death threats) but also the MLB has to approve of any changes made like a stadium, moving the team, changing the name, even changing the uniforms.
- Hetman, on 12/07/2008, -1/+3As long as they call it Wrigley field I will not care. And hopefully pick up a few good closers.
- HentaiJeff, on 12/07/2008, -0/+2man I hope that's a joke...
- travisMarc, on 12/07/2008, -2/+4so Cuban?
- middlecon, on 12/07/2008, -0/+2Theres this report that he has 'zero chance' according to a 'source'.

But I really think that if he were to outbid the other bids they would sell to him. - middlecon, on 12/07/2008, -1/+2The Cubs problem isn't ownership...they've spent plenty of money over the years, they've just picked the wrong people to spend it on, excepting the 'good' years in my lifetime 84,89,98,03,07,08....in between there have been all kinds of money thrown at guys either past their prime or guys that mysteriously lost it very soon after signing with the Cubs.
Jim Hendry has done a bangup job by just being a exceedingly ordinarily talented GM. If they could ever get some talent in the front office they just might be able to win a playoff game now and then.
Go Cubbies! - Barackalypse, on 12/07/2008, -0/+1In 2008 the Cubs had the 6th highest payroll in baseball, someone treating it as a business might realize he doesn't need to spend that kind of money to not win a World Series.
- cadebbie, on 12/07/2008, -0/+1I like the reassurance. When I saw one of the finalist was based in New York I thought OMG.
- middlecon, on 12/07/2008, -0/+1I think if Cuban is the high bidder they would 'let' him buy it. The question is will he be the high bidder? We might never know, but I don't think he's completely blacklisted.
- AOLis1337, on 12/07/2008, -0/+1I'll see your four Bugles and a paperclip, and I'll raise you this shiny bauble.
- zoka50, on 01/05/2009, -0/+0Go Cubbies!

- syntaxgs, on 12/07/2008, -1/+1What?
- gotribe06, on 12/07/2008, -0/+0Really? I swear I saw on ESPN the other day Selig and the other owners didn't want somebody of his "character" as an owner.
- gotribe06, on 12/07/2008, -2/+1I wish they'd let Mark Cuban buy them..
- umbriago, on 12/07/2008, -4/+2They would have been more valuable BEFORE the playoffs.
- syntaxgs, on 12/07/2008, -3/+1What's with all the Foot.-Ball. News On Digg To-day?
- coop92, on 12/06/2008, -6/+2Will a new owner help the Cubbies win in the playoffs? I guess time will tell. Go Cards! :)
