- inactive, on 07/25/2008, -1/+16Brian Cuban for General Manager!
- inactive, on 07/25/2008, -1/+14I wanna sing "Take Me Out To The Ballgame."! The Cubs need an owner like Mark Cuban. Try, if you are willing, to name a better owner. Good Luck Mark!
- brdraper, on 07/25/2008, -0/+11Once of my favorite Cubs moments: Bill Murray throwing out the first pitch on opening day 2004. He gets to the mound, eyes the "catcher" like a pitcher would, then proceeds to throw the ball all the way over the backstop to the fans. The place erupted.
- inactive, on 07/25/2008, -0/+10hahahaha.....
And LewP for batboy.......just get me in the game coach!!! - Olfster, on 07/25/2008, -1/+11So if Cuban wins does this mean they will be renamed the Chicago Cubes?
- Brandoskey, on 07/25/2008, -0/+9too bad Bill Murray couldn't buy the cubbies
- Brandoskey, on 07/25/2008, -4/+11GO CUBS GO, go cubs go, hey Chicago what do ya say? The Cubs are gonna win today!
- AmyVernon, on 07/25/2008, -1/+7lol!!!
- inactive, on 07/25/2008, -0/+5Mark Cuban is awesome.
- shutaro, on 07/25/2008, -0/+5All sports teams should be named after geometric figures.
- FlyingPhotog, on 07/25/2008, -0/+4The great thing about Cuban is his passion for the team. With the Mavericks, he sits down in the stands with tall the other folks rather than up in a snobby luxury box. I think he would be a great owner for the Cubs.
- chrissku, on 07/25/2008, -0/+4I hope Mark Cubfan wins out. He would bring so much excitement to baseball. Plus he's not afraid to dish out the big money to get the right players.
- ryan899, on 07/25/2008, -0/+4Cuban cares about the atmosphere waaay to much. He's said he would sit out in the bleachers if he owned them. Not in a cushy skybox.
- ihavebeenseen, on 07/25/2008, -0/+4They said the same thing about the house that ruth built.
- lmarshall8675, on 07/25/2008, -0/+3Maybe we can get a company to buy that wont scalp their own damn tickets. It would be nice to goto a game without searching ebay & stubhub for a week prior.
- inactive, on 07/25/2008, -1/+4Is he still going to sell the Mavs if he gets the Cubs? Even though the seasons only overlap for 2-3 months it seems like he'd have to be an absentee owner to one franchise if he owned both.
- orlyfactor, on 07/25/2008, -0/+3Oooo I'm waiting on the edge of my seat!! Which incredibly rich person will get a new toy?! Wow, I haven't been this excited since the theatrical release of Ishtar.
- SolituSneiku, on 07/25/2008, -0/+3The Chicago Cubans
- brdraper, on 07/25/2008, -0/+3I do not want Canning... How long have the Brewers fielded crappy, low-paid teams (besides the last few years, of course)? I really hope Cuban comes away with it.. nice to see he is the high bidder!
- kinerry, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2never gonna happen buddy
- mlvassallo, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2In Bizarro World.
- rightbrainnow, on 07/25/2008, -1/+3Im saying it now. If Cuban buys the Cubs, theyll become the best franchise in sports.
- bullsfan03, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2Umm... How do you figure? It's not like Cuban's gonna sign Jason Kidd and Dirk Nowitski to the Cubs.
- Jeffler, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1"Try, if you are willing, to name a better owner."
Bill Wirtz's son just for reversing everything his dad did in a year (soon as his dad died last year, he took over, started broadcasting free games for the first time in like 20 years, slashed ticket prices, and more.) Next year, the Blackhawks will be the only team to have all their games freely televised, will have one of the better teams in the league, because unlike Bill, Rocky isn't scared of paying contracts when needed, and, related to the Cubs, the Hawks will play an outdoor game at Wrigley next year. - louspants, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1Yeah, you're right. Best record in the NL so far this year--even with a slump right now. They must be ranked 21st, at best. Winning the NL Central last year... there were definitely 20 teams better than them in the MLB. I totally see your point about always being outside the top 20...
With that logic, I have to ask: what are you, a Sox fan?
And who "ranks" baseball teams? - helooksmortal, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1let's go cuban, let's go! *clap-clap-clap* let's go cuban, let's go! *clap-clap-clap*
- rpfinley, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1I don't want Cuban the Cubs are already owner by someone who doesn't have any championship rings.
- macromorgan, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1To those who think Mark Cuban is the answer to your franchise's prayers... how many championships have the Mavs won? I say this as a masochist Mavs fan (I have season tickets for God's sake!).
Mark Cuban DOES have a knack for greatly improving the fan experience. He DOES NOT have a knack for fielding a championship caliber team. - suckaPU, on 07/25/2008, -5/+6Chicago Cubs: Champions of 2008 World Series
- smacksaw, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1Get ready for huge ticket price increases, Cubs fan.
- luther70, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1NO!
- ShempRider, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1I was at a game several years ago and Bill Murray sang during the 7th inning stretch. That was awesome enough, but when he finished he dumped his beer on the crowd below him. The fans went nuts.
- inactive, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1Cuban would keep the heart of the team.
If they are going to be losers, they might as well keep the charm that is Wrigley. - mlvassallo, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1I actually know quite a few people who are both Mavericks and Cubbies fans. They would love Cuban as the owner of both of their teams.
- Jeffler, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1Something tells me that MLSE is going to come in at the last second, win it, then trade chunks of it to get every other sports team in Toronto.
Or maybe I'm just a panicking Leafs fan. - Brandoskey, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1home run balls hit by the other team, i sure hope you don't call yourself a cubs fan!
- Teapotty, on 07/25/2008, -0/+0Cubs still won't win the series. The Mavs haven't even won since he's taken them over and baseball is probably the hardest sport to win the championship.
- Zipko, on 07/25/2008, -1/+1Screw the Cubs, I want him to buy the Orioles. He's the best owner in the NBA and with how bad Peter Angelos is I'd love to have Mark Cuban in charge of my club.
- kinerry, on 07/25/2008, -1/+1mostly because it's always wrong
- neilyn, on 07/25/2008, -1/+1And how long will the Cubs be in mourning when the Brewers pass them up and win the World Series this year?
Brewers swept the Giants
Brewers swept the Cardinals
Brewers will sweep the Cubs! (After sweeping the Astros) :P - legendxx, on 07/25/2008, -1/+1Are you dumb? Chicago was close to rioting when the current owner thought about changing the name of Wrigley.. what do you think they would do if they tore down the stadium?
- gzappia, on 07/25/2008, -1/+1by far one of the best owners in professional sports.. here's hoping he wins, and I'm not even a Cubs fan
- Apocalyptic0n3, on 07/25/2008, -1/+1...did they throw it back to him? (I still contend that is a dumb tradition. Though now that I think about it, it may just be for home run balls.)
- anandpopat, on 07/25/2008, -0/+0woohoo GO CUBAN!!!!!!!!
- suckaPU, on 07/25/2008, -1/+1***** iu
- billsprestonIU, on 07/25/2008, -1/+1Go Cubs - Go Hoosiers! Cuban rocks.
- eggsovereasy, on 07/25/2008, -1/+1I'm a cubs fan and hate it too...
- Ugoff, on 07/25/2008, -3/+3As much as I cheer for the Cubs as sentimental favorites, If that douche Cuban becomes owner, I hope they never win a World Series again.
- Bunner007, on 07/25/2008, -1/+1I can definitely see Cuban running out to home plate with the team after a walk off home run... he'd fit in nicely
