- Shiftyeyedgoat, on 09/15/2008, -4/+11Big Z with the scary showing against the RED HOT 'Stros.
This paved a big brick on the pathway to the world series for the Cubbies. - naiku, on 09/15/2008, -5/+10They got the power, they got the speed
To be the best in the National League
Well this is the year and the Cubs are real
So come on down to Wrigley Field.
We're singing now ...
Go, Cubs, go - Thoraxes, on 09/15/2008, -2/+7This was VERY exciting to watch. Great Great pitching by Z.
- CubFan185, on 09/15/2008, -0/+5If the Brewers even make it to the postseason. They just got swept by the phils, now tied for the wild card and 7.5 back in the NL
- lolbrandon, on 09/15/2008, -5/+10ZAMBRANO-NO
- DocDrea323, on 09/15/2008, -0/+4Interesting story. My friend, who's a hardcore Cubs fan, wanted to watch the game and eager for it to start. I asked him why and his reply was "It is history in the making." I asked him why and he replied "It's because the Cubs will be one game closer to winning the world series." Ok, whatever, I figure.
Then I get on Digg and see this. ***** him for being right. - mapez, on 09/15/2008, -1/+5eamus catuli
- txcrew, on 09/15/2008, -0/+4What is your excuse for last years NL Central Champs who were swept in the first round?
- BigBalledOX, on 09/15/2008, -0/+3I've heard mixed reports on this, the game was shown in Chicago and a caller to the post-game show claimed to have watched the Astros broadcast, so it must have been shown locally, but I talked to other people outside the Chicago area who said it was blacked out. I know there were WGN trucks parked outside the stadium as we walked in.
- BigBalledOX, on 09/15/2008, -0/+3Thats why 23,000 fans showed up tonight on less than 24 hour notice, right?
- stmonroe, on 09/15/2008, -0/+3i was at the game and i didn't realize he had a no hitter until the eigth. i went to my brother holy ***** i didn't realize zambrano has a no hitter and the fan in front of me of accussing me of jinxing this game. i guess i'm saying that as much as i love baseball, i still think it's the most superstitious sport.
- BigBalledOX, on 09/15/2008, -0/+3The Brewers should be more worried about MAKING the playoffs first before they worry about "cleaning it up". You may want to take note of the fact if the playoffs started today, your precious little Brew-Crew would be sitting at home again.
- fumar, on 09/15/2008, -3/+6I was there it was amazing!!!!
Go Cubs go!!
Magic number is 7!!! - inactive, on 09/15/2008, -2/+4Good job Big Z and Cubbies, now keep it up!!
- BigBalledOX, on 09/15/2008, -2/+4Please, these are professional athletes. Besides, money-grubbing douchebag owner Drayton McLane is the one who insisted on trying to play the games in Houston instead of moving the series to one of multiple proposed alternate sites which the Cubs had agreed were amenable. By forcing MLB to wait until late Saturday evening to make the final call, Houston screwed themselves and really have no one to point a finger at but right back at them.
- kittnerrules, on 09/17/2008, -0/+2Wrigley Field is historic.
- fumar, on 09/15/2008, -0/+2If the Brewers don't fold like they did last year they should be dangerous in the post season with Sheets and Sabathia, but given how they have played this month, that's a BIG if.
- TheMarenum, on 09/17/2008, -0/+2If i were you, I'd be sick from the way the Crew is playing right now.
- CubFan185, on 09/17/2008, -0/+1I won't digg you down just because i feel bad that your team crashed and burned. We had a good race going, but it's pretty much in the bag now.
- kocurejd, on 09/15/2008, -0/+1I had seats in the Crawford boxes for this game, but the stupid hurricane messed everything up. Son of a bitch.
- Ourcellardoor, on 09/16/2008, -0/+1Watch and learn Cubs fan. Your team will continue their woes starting tonight: Sabathia vs. Dempster.
- greeensmoke, on 09/15/2008, -0/+1I watched it on sportsnet here in canada
- posure, on 09/15/2008, -0/+1Well, atleast it wasn't against the Brewers even though it was at Miller Park. ;-)
- dannythepan, on 09/19/2008, -0/+1for several years i've always been hearing "this is our year" from cubs fans..but now it's starting to sound like saying that before the fact is enough to jinx 'em.. because it hasn't ..not to put a downer or anything but i think it's a shoe-in for Cleveland this year. w.s. champions.
jokes aside.. i think it's interesting to note that all the teams in the playoff race except for the angels and white sox would've been considered serious underdogs recently. boston, phillies, mets, cubs, and dodgers were underdogs to yankees, braves, astros and giants just a few years ago.. and suddenly the rays (previously a joke) are the team to beat in the american league... baseball is funky - kittnerrules, on 09/17/2008, -0/+1< --- Cub's Fan. n0t0kayipr0mis3-- > gay cub's fan.
- Ourcellardoor, on 09/17/2008, -0/+1And now I feel stupid.
- ,,|,_, on 09/15/2008, -3/+4My parents probably won't have power for another two weeks. I bet most of the poor hardcore Houston fans have no idea this even happened yet.
- BigBalledOX, on 09/15/2008, -1/+2Yeah, uh . . . actually HE DOES.
- Nintendesert, on 09/15/2008, -0/+1Sore loser.
- gothgeek, on 09/15/2008, -0/+1That's impossible... Steve Bartman doesn't live in Chicago anymore.
- urbanfury, on 09/15/2008, -1/+2I was there too and didn't even realize it until the sixth inning. By the eighth, the crowd was ecstatic.
Great to see Big Z get the no-hitter, he certainly earned it.
I know this was picked as a "neutral site", but I only counted a handful of Astros fans of the 23,000 people there. About the only "home field advantage" the Astros had was that they got to bat last. - paradigm1220, on 09/15/2008, -0/+1*site
Cause I know someone would've corrected me otherwise... - fubar109, on 09/15/2008, -3/+4No one likes you.
- paradigm1220, on 09/15/2008, -3/+3entropicsoul has it right. The Astros were coming off 14 wins in 15 games, hands down THE hottest team in baseball right now. That was supposed to be a home game for the Astros, and anyone will tell you that home field advantage in baseball is a BIG deal. I'm a die hard Astros fan, nevertheless I congratulate Zambrano on his no-hitter, but I wonder how much the Cubs paid to have the game played in Milwaukee...neutral sight my ass.
- hmphargh, on 09/15/2008, -7/+7Congrats, they beat a team who had their homes hit by a hurricane and families still without power, were rushed to a make up game, then played a "home" game 90 miles from Chicago. I call *****.
***** you, Commissioner Selig. - skeletorcares, on 09/15/2008, -1/+1No one but cubs fans. But who cares about them. (Said from a guy in chicago)
- kittnerrules, on 09/17/2008, -1/+1Hey hmphargh, a no-hitter is a no-hitter. Suck it.
- dannythepan, on 09/19/2008, -0/+0espn interrupted like ten minutes of the white sox game i had been waiting all week for to tune into WGN's cubs broadcast in the 9th inning..
- entropicsoul, on 09/15/2008, -0/+0He didn't earn anything, Kei Igawa could have no hit the Astros tonight. He was handed a no hitter by facing a team that's too tired to play.
- Ftown13, on 09/15/2008, -1/+1He lives in Detroit.
- Abjure, on 09/15/2008, -10/+9As someone who lives in Milwaukee and is a fan of the Brew Crew.. this makes me sick.
- inactive, on 09/15/2008, -2/+1did he move to Florida?
- entropicsoul, on 09/15/2008, -5/+4How impressive is this, really? Zambrano is a good pitcher, sure, but the entire Houston team probably hasn't had more than a handful of hours of sleep since Friday. I read a report where Lance Berkman had to wake up at 4 in the morning to drive to Houston (from where he was with his family during the storm) and 13 hours had passed from when Berkman work up to when the first pitch was made. Who knows what time he went to sleep before that. Some of these guys have no electricty at their houses and can't even talk to their wife and kids. A triple A'er could have no hit the Astros today.
- dslfreakdude, on 09/15/2008, -1/+0nope, they took a break from hurricane coverage to announce this.
- fumar, on 09/15/2008, -2/+1We got beat by a better team last year.
In 2003 if Alex Gonzalez didn't boot that double play ball, Prior would have gotten out of the 8th and from there who knows what would have happened. But the Marlins were still the better team in game 7. Time to stop living under the excuses of curses and overreactions to a fan trying to get a souvenir Cubs fans. - sgtbutterscotch, on 09/15/2008, -3/+1wtf? Everyone likes the Cubs. And that's what pisses me off about them!
- inactive, on 09/15/2008, -5/+3Congrats on getting the '***** idiot of the day award'
