- Divic, on 07/05/2009, -0/+10Its nice being able to take the drive down to Baltimore to see my beloved Yankees almost front Row for $20-$40. However, Baltimore has a good young team. Weiters is a special kid, and Markakis is great.
- YamsterYams, on 07/05/2009, -1/+10The Orioles will NEVER compete with the Yanks and Sox. Unless they get a new owner.
- MixMastaKooz, on 07/06/2009, -0/+6The O's definitely need a new owner. I grew up as an O's fan, and they were awesome. Jim Palmer, Cal Ripkin, Eddie Murray, and Rick Dempsey. The '70's and early 80's were an awesome time to be an O's fan (also in the mid '90s). It pains me to see them at the bottom of the East.
- Jericho6, on 07/05/2009, -0/+6There's lots of pitching talent in the minors (Arrieta, Matusz, Tillman, etc...), although not much hitting. There's enough to be a really good team, though beating at least two the Yankees, Red Sox, and Rays is a difficult task.
- pers1an, on 07/06/2009, -1/+6The name of their President of Operations is 'McPhail.' I think we might be onto something here...
- Cyberen, on 07/06/2009, -0/+5I'm back, and all I can say is...
Baltimore Orioles, number one! - superkeer, on 07/06/2009, -0/+4I hate how the O's have been run... after a decent run in the 90s they pissed it all away, and now douchebag Yankee fans outnumber O's fans at home games. It's so depressing.
- inactive, on 07/06/2009, -0/+4Orioles have a terrible owner. Coming from a Brewer fan that was stuck with Selig for years, we have experience here.
- TheDamnBatman, on 07/06/2009, -0/+4It could be worse: you could be a fan of the Pirates or the Natinals. Or, if you're unfortunate enough to be me, both.
- tattoojoo, on 07/06/2009, -0/+3Dugg for the Os. They'll be back.
- Blinker1315, on 07/05/2009, -0/+3Camden Yards is a great, great place to see a game. Problem is, for those baseball fans living in Baltimore, the team is really boring. And if you're a transplant from another city with a different favorite team--mine's the Red Sox--watching an O's/Jays game can be a snooze. That said, it's possible the O's could pull an '08 Rays in maybe two years. They ought to unload some of their older players at the trading deadline for more young prospects.
- foofightrs777, on 07/06/2009, -0/+3Brain Roberts is an excellent player as well.
- JoeHague, on 07/06/2009, -1/+4The Os are only a couple seasons away from being REALLY good. 2011 the Os are winning that division/

- fakeplasticsnow, on 07/06/2009, -0/+2OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOmar comin' yo!
- DickyT83, on 07/06/2009, -0/+2How about Adam Jones? That kid is crazy good.
- smacksaw, on 07/06/2009, -0/+2Baltimore is 10 games below .500, 13 1/2 games out of first and have a 24-20 winning record at home.
A lot of people were predicting they would be a lot worse, but their generic label pitching squad has performed well.
I doubt they will do much more than what they are doing, but it's not impossible that they even win the division. If BOS, NYY, TOR and TB cannibalise each other and the O's can win some games against them, they could find themselves in the thick of it. The thing is that the AL East is so balanced this year that Baltimore could just hang on and then make a move in August.
Stranger things have happened. I think about the past few seasons where Houston has made big runs at the end of the year and we've already anointed the Cubs, Cards or both of them champions. The AL East is the best division to watch this year and Baltimore is just one of the good storylines. IMO, nothing is impossible for this team. They're like Tampa - they're too young to know any better. They don't have to accept losing or what anyone says. If they went .667 for the 1st 4 weeks after the break they would be .500 and within 3-4 games of first. - tattoojoo, on 07/06/2009, -0/+2I feel you. Don't forget Ken Singleton, John Lowenstein, Al Bumbry, Scott McGregor, Gary Roenicke, Tim Stoddard, Tippy Martinez, Lenn Sakata, and Benny Ayala.
Oh yeah, and Earl Weaver...
Those were the days. - gelato822, on 07/06/2009, -0/+2"O!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave"
if you're a fan, you'll get it. - PeanutCheeseBar, on 07/06/2009, -0/+1***** Peter Angelos for ruining the Orioles.
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/baseball/mlb ... - JoeB4ever, on 07/06/2009, -1/+2as a tigers fan I know how Orioles fans feel. You have to be patient and hope your team makes smart decisions.

- khalil725, on 07/06/2009, -3/+2And the Yanks will never compete with the Sox unless they keep their payroll over $200 million.
- samyoungguitar, on 07/06/2009, -9/+1Who the ***** cares about the ***** Orioles? Bur'd.
