- Sp0rAdiC, on 10/12/2007, -0/+24I like the way that was written, dugg.
- hansamurai, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21Here's an interesting tidbit, the Dodgers actually hit six straight home runs in six hits. The four back-to-back home runs, Lofton walks in the tenth (getting on base without a hit), then Nomar hits the game winning home run, and finally Furcal hits a lead off home run to start yesterday's game. Six home runs on six hits over two games.
- ZigZags, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15Thanks for the video link. I don't watch baseball too much but you just can't beat these types of stories. I think the 5th guy just forgot to take his performance enhancers.

- cyberghost232, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9That brought tears dammit. Very well written.
- cblalock, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7And to think - back in the day when we were inspired by a sports story we'd go and actually play the game.
No, not on a NES.
No, not on Genesis either.
Coleco-vis??..i swear you little.... We actually would pick up a glove (not a powerglove smart-ass) a ball and a bat and [dramatic pause] go outside. - kadio, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4shut up. vin is the best.
- hansamurai, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Here's a longer video if you want to hear more commentary from the announcer. But it's not perfect because they repeat about 20 seconds or so of footage, not sure how they messed that up.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eSNV2cQanlU&NR - wicked9, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4amazing game, but then the dodgers go and blow a game to the pirates last night and are already out of first place. It will be a neck and neck finish, with the possibility of both the padres and dodgers making it with the wild card.
- GravyTrain6, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3for those like me who are typically disappointed with journalists ability to write readable articles, I have always found Page 2 on ESPN to have very interesting and readable articles. Obviously, this article fits the mold
- Al3x, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Great video, I'd say it's worthy of it's own digg.
- isthisnametaken, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2well if you're british think of it as four guys in a row hitting a "6" in cricket.
- JJBagoose, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Agreed. I read this yesterday.
Its nice to read a sports article that is written in a creative way for a change. - buellerdiggs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2this might be the stupidest comment on digg of all time, I am not going to go through Vin's record but you must be a complete moron and have no knowledge of baseball or sports in general.
- Gnarx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2that's what baseball shoudl be about, did you see the fans? the joy in the players in the dugout.. this was old school baseball.. no one on the dodgers team was thinking about their pay check, or their contracts.. they were all children on teh street playing stick ball that night.. i love it!
- mrlost117, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1very well written indeed, makes me wanna go back to the ballpark.
I would like to see baseball get a new breath, its been struggling for awhile, besides that brief mark mgwire run.
maybe this will get everyone a bit more motivated, both players and fans. - redsox32, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1on sportscenter they showed a clip of hundereds of fans pouring back into the stadium atfer around for the 10th inning.
- scottc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Indeed. A very well-told story. I don't usually read sports stories, but perhaps I should more often. I thought all the good journalists had left the business, given the crappy writing and editing that are the norm in the media these days.
- flernk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Awesome. In the dictionary definition of that word.
Digg the video here: http://digg.com/baseball/Back_to_Back_to_Back_to_Back_Home_Runs_The_Video - BillyIsCool, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1saw this live too, crazy stuff.
- elhaf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I know. My co-workers are probably wondering why my eyes are all misty. I'm going to a game tonight: Texas Rangers vs. Seattle Mariners - the battle for the bottom!
- r3neGaDe, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Same here, it gave it more than just a news story feel. Even though I'm not a Dodgers fan, it made me feel like one for the entire read.
- kadio, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Go Dodgers!
- joet86, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Hoffman will be the all-time saves leader before it's all said and done. I'm pretty sure he won't be employed at Burger King any time soon.
- ScottMitchell, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Yeah, exciting finish, but it was all for naught if the Dodgers don't buckle down and win more than the Padres over the remaining weeks.
- DodgerBlue, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0go dodgers!!!!!
- rutterj2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yeah, i thought he went a bit heavy on the schmaltz-factor too. interesting game though.
- JackyTreehorn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"you must be a complete moron and have no knowledge of baseball or sports in general."
You're right. I am a moron. A complete moron. I'm a complete moron because I don't like the broadcasting style of the Dodger's sportscaster. How oblivious can I be? Clearly all of my fellow Cleveland Indians fans know that Vin Scully is the "voice of the Brooklyn and Los Angeles Dodgers baseball teams".
It's pretty incredible how moronic I am. That I (a fan of an AL team that plays most of their games against teams midwest) don't know who Vin Scully (Voice of an NL team who plays most of their games against teams on the west coast) is is truly embarrassing.
[/sarcasm]
buellerdiggs - Pull your head out of the sand. Not everyone is a fan of the Dodgers, or a fan of any National League team, or a fan of a team on the west coast. Why should I, or anyone else in general, be expected to know who the Dodgers' broadcaster is?
Face it, this guy announced 4-consecutive homeruns with no feeling. My team's broadcaster (you're a complete moron if you don't know anything about the Indians' broadcasters) would have been screaming at the top of his lungs. Not that I would have heard him over my own screaming. - codenoise, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Bury, quick! The last thing the world needs is more dodgers fans!
- isthisnametaken, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I wonder how many people left the game early?
- abrowncoat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I was at the game. That was the sad part, that there was almost no one there. Kinda made it that much more special though that I did stay for the whole thing.
- caseyd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I was watching this and my roommate went crazy (huge padre fan). Padres are back in first after last night.
- Jnetty99, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4I thought this was going to be a video.
- mecole21, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1the best part of it was it happened in the bottom of the 9th inning against one of the best closers in baseball history...
- hobg, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1http://www.rediff.com/cricket/2004/aug/21gayle.htm
Just to even the scales a little. - shatters, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Bah, saves are overrated.
- JackyTreehorn, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0I gotta say, I'm glad the announcer in this video doesn't announce games in my area. He's there for something that's only happened 4 times ever and he sounds like he couldn't be bothered. Give me Tom Hamilton or Rick Manning anyday.
- shatters, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1The two pitchers that gave up the four runs, Adkins and Hoffman, must be feeling great about this. I think Burger King is hiring.
- merdiesel, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2***** the Dodgers!
- fffizzz, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2thats awesome! i love using the dodgers in MLB 2k6 on the 360, they rock! :)
- Precision, on 10/12/2007, -10/+4i dugg down all you dodger fans. Padres will pwn the dodgers and they have a harder schedule too... pwned
- martinc00, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1Damn if only i understood baseball im sure it would be amazing :D
- xr56n44, on 10/12/2007, -13/+2yuck! i need a shower.
that was so maudlinly sentimental that i thought i was reading ladies home journal. what a fcuking pansy.
