- diggleague, on 02/22/2008, -1/+37#19 - "Joel Zumaya rocked so hard on Guitar Hero that he developed a wrist inflammation" could be the best injury ever in professional sports.
- richlizard24, on 02/22/2008, -0/+7Not if you are a Detroit Tigers fan like me.
- sfrench, on 02/22/2008, -0/+19What's even more awesome about that is that they reference it at the very end credits of GH2 for xbox360. It said "No pitchers were harmed during the making of this game. Except one. Joel Zumaya. He had it coming."
- orlandorays, on 02/24/2008, -0/+0I want an Xbox 360 now. Just for that. XD
- newman1320, on 02/22/2008, -7/+3#20 - Jeff Kent, during spring workouts with the Giants, mysteriously broke his wrist after he fell from a ladder attempting to wash the top of his new truck. He later admitted that he injured himself racing down Scottsdale Road on his motorcycle when he had to lay it down.
- drummerman109, on 02/22/2008, -1/+6umm, thats not #20... http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/multimedia/photo_ ...
Jeff Kent isn't even on the list- SonicAD, on 02/22/2008, -3/+1I think he knows that, dumbass. He's adding another one that got left off.
- FreddieD, on 02/23/2008, -0/+1Yeah I was really surprised that Kent's injury didn't make the list. But maybe it was intentionally left off because everybody knew he was lying. Had he told the truth at the time of the injury, his entire contract could have been voided on the spot.

- TheCure, on 02/22/2008, -1/+18"If Rickey Henderson wants to fall asleep with an ice pack on his foot, that's what Rickey Henderson does. Rickey Henderson does what's best for Rickey Henderson and if that means getting frostbite and missing a few games that's what Rickey Henderson is gonna do." Oh Ricky and third person dialog, how I miss thee
- drummerman109, on 02/22/2008, -1/+5#9 - Glenallen Hill - "The arachnophobic outfielder cut himself up in 1990 by falling out of bed and onto a glass table in a fit of panic induced by a nightmare about being covered in spiders."
- hdhuntr, on 02/22/2008, -0/+1I was gonna dis this until I got to the next to last one. I saw Vince Coleman get eaten by the tarp...
- dreicher, on 02/22/2008, -1/+8"The arachnophobic outfielder cut himself up in 1990 by falling out of bed and onto a glass table in a fit of panic induced by a nightmare about being covered in spiders."
"The 1996 Cy Young Award-winner allegedly burned himself in 1990 by ironing a shirt while he was still wearing it."
Good thing MLB didn't get serious about drugs until 1991... - scottfarner, on 02/22/2008, -0/+1They forgot Carlos Zambrano's wrist injury from spending to much time on the interwebs.
- 9bpm9, on 02/22/2008, -0/+1Julian Tazarez did the same thing Kevin Brown did in 2004 except in the playoffs.
- richlizard24, on 02/22/2008, -0/+1There are actually 21 injuries, but ok.
- toomanytuxedos, on 02/22/2008, -0/+219? I got 21.
- zetamilk, on 02/22/2008, -1/+3Blackjack.
- ihatepeterh, on 02/22/2008, -0/+1They missed Mo Vaughn destroying his knee and effectively ending his career walking up the dugout steps.
- bdw3355, on 02/22/2008, -0/+15Wow. Adam Eaton stabbed himself opening a DVD... Best argument for Pirate Bay I've ever heard...
- tango1110, on 02/22/2008, -0/+2What about when Jacksonville Jaguar punter Chris Hanson chopped himself in the leg with an axe while in the Jaguars locker room. He was then on injured reserve the rest of the year. Apparently Coach Jack Del Rio put a tree and an axe in the locker room to emphasize the team slogan of "keep chopping wood." He also encouraged players to take a hack at it everyday. HMMM
- EntropyGun, on 02/22/2008, -0/+4Back when the Jags were part of MLB, apparently.
- Clumber, on 02/22/2008, -0/+7errmmmm.. title. Check the article's title. "...in MLB history". MLB = Major League Baseball. Jaguar punter? NFL. Maybe you should make another list for us?
- EntropyGun, on 02/22/2008, -0/+4Back when the Jags were part of MLB, apparently.
- cbags, on 02/22/2008, -0/+4What about Kyle Farnsworth, he spent a lil time on the DL after a fight with a dugout box fan...which he of course lost.
- scottfarner, on 02/22/2008, -0/+2What about Paul Wilson's injured pride after he got demolished by Farnsworth in 2004! Best one sided baseball fight ever?
- jetblackz4, on 02/22/2008, -0/+2How about Kerry Wood slipping in his bathtub and missing even more games.
GO CUBS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - Clumber, on 02/22/2008, -0/+6I hate this between football and baseball time frame.
ME NEED BASEBALL NOW! SEASON START! START! (and dangit, I had wondered why Zumaya was out, I hadn't heard ... or maybe forgot, that it was a Guitar Hero injury. I hope he was at least trying to do the two-handed EVH tremolo thing.... - edwartica, on 02/22/2008, -1/+1I don't know, a lot of these sound pretty normal. The only abnormal thing is that they happed to someone famous. So....could it be that famous people are just normal people too?
- hoovcluck, on 02/22/2008, -0/+2I messed up my eye sleeping on it. I know exactly what he is talking about, and it hurt for days.
- LarryWMSN, on 02/22/2008, -0/+1How about Bob Ojeda playing for the Mets in 1988 nearly cutting off part of his finger going in to the playoffs.
From Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Ojeda:
"He pitched well in 1988 but was involved in what some consider one of the most ridiculous accidents in baseball history when he severed the tip of his left middle finger while trimming his hedges in mid-September."- sdquinn, on 03/01/2008, -0/+0That was one I was surprised wasn't on there.
- kyleforeman, on 02/22/2008, -0/+1No Canseco Injuries?
- FatDrunkBastard, on 02/22/2008, -0/+2My favorite Canseco moment was the time the ball bounced off his head for a home run.
- samantha5012, on 02/23/2008, -0/+0Most of these seem pretty normal to me. I actuallly haven't heard of some of these.
- SDM187, on 02/23/2008, -0/+22 questions after flipping thru those, did pence still get laid that night and did sparks actually rip the phonebook in half? says "trying" so you'd have to assume no, that had to be pretty fukn funny to watch
- amanda97701, on 02/23/2008, -0/+0I slept on my eyelid wrong... That is hilarious!
- hookman, on 02/23/2008, -0/+1Ricky Bones hurt his lower back getting out of a chair while watching TV in the clubhouse.
Wade Boggs hurt his back when he lost his balance while trying to put on cowboy boots.
Kevin Mitchell strained a muscle while vomiting.
Rick Honeycutt injured his wrist while flicking sunflower seeds in the dugout.
Nolan Ryan was bitten by a coyote.
http://www.hsbaseballweb.com/weird_injuries.htm - R3dpanda, on 02/23/2008, -0/+1buried for poor web design. Why make the pictures take up most of the screen if they don't even show the injury?
- rurounikengyrl, on 02/23/2008, -0/+1i was hoping for pictures of the actual injuries...
- rohlman82, on 02/23/2008, -0/+0All these guys are pussies. Does anyone remember Ronnie Lott of the 49ers? He cut the tip of his left pinky finger off after the 1985 season, when it was crushed tackling RB Timmy Newsome. He did it to keep from having a reoccurring injury.
- adamk0310, on 02/23/2008, -0/+1No mention of Milton Bradley tearing his ACL while arguing with an ump?
- orlandorays, on 02/24/2008, -0/+0That's not that atypical. And considering it's the ump's fault...
- orlandorays, on 02/24/2008, -0/+0Undoubtedly, Joel Zumaya injuring himself playing Guitar Hero is #1.
