- mysn239, on 01/09/2009, -0/+23Here's a great pic comparing the width
http://www.carzi.com/wp-content/uploads/2008-nissa ... - inactive, on 01/08/2009, -10/+30There are a lot of other cars I'd rather spend $205K on...if I had $205K to throw around...which I don't...(sigh)
- inactive, on 01/09/2009, -0/+14Why not just buy the base model, spend $10k on making it look like what you want, and do the ECU upgrade yourself?
Customized to what you want, and almost as much power I'd imagine.
I guess if you want that "one of a kind" feeling. I'd much rather have the "it's mine, i created it" feeling. - Axeman2063, on 01/09/2009, -0/+12lessee here...200 large would get me a GT-R complete edition....OR......
2008 Aston Martin DB9 (179,250)
2008 Bentley Continental (196,000)
" Ferrari F-430 coupe, or scudiera (189 or 200,000, respectively)
I could go on, but suffice to say its effing overpriced. Sweet ride to be sure, but for that much I'll take my Ferrari. - Sh0rtstak, on 01/08/2009, -3/+14hot
- lartones, on 01/09/2009, -0/+10Just get the orginal GT-R, it's 95% of what this newer version is and for less than half the price.
- Civilizationist, on 01/09/2009, -0/+10My father works for Nissan, and he occasionaly brings home a nice company car for the night, or weekend. Ususally its been a decked out Maxima or Altima. For many year I begged him to bring home a 350z to no avail (waiting lists and such). One evening out of the blue he pulls up in a (stock) GT-R.
We proceeded to take it on a lovely drive, all the while adhering to all the traffic and safety laws of course. - nailPuppy, on 01/08/2009, -1/+10Not nearly worth the price premium, and I don't give a damn if they are only doing eight of them.
- WafflePirate, on 01/08/2009, -1/+9Damn this recession. I want one. Who am I kidding? Recession or no recession, I can't afford this.
- vertigo32, on 01/08/2009, -2/+10For $200k you would think they would replace the glass components in the transmission with real parts. At least this way, you will grenade your tranny before you void your warranty with your third launch assist.
- Typhoon2009, on 01/09/2009, -2/+10The stock GT-R would be good enough for me. I'd spend the remaining $130,000 on investments and charity. God I'd love a GT-R...
- Akairenn, on 01/09/2009, -0/+7You've never seen me shift, apparently :p
Only n00bs drive anything but manual. ;) - Arkz, on 01/09/2009, -0/+7..damn.. never realised how skinny the r34 was... or how much fatter the r35 is
- TheAutoInsider, on 05/22/2009, -0/+6I think this Godzilla deserves a new name....The Great Pumpkin.
- andrewlotta, on 01/09/2009, -0/+5I'd rather have the GT-R.
- Th3Wh1teRabb1t, on 01/09/2009, -0/+4I think the yellow paint job makes it look cheap. But that could just be me. Almost reminds me of impala taxi cabs i've seen.
- kjk437, on 01/09/2009, -0/+4Four
- shredswithpiks, on 01/09/2009, -0/+4is this a rick roll? I bet it's a rick roll...
- pkon, on 01/09/2009, -0/+4Hot car, I'd love to own it but I would never spend $205,000 on it. There is a quite a list of other cars you could get with the same amount that can perform better and also look better.
- donalddraper, on 01/09/2009, -0/+3Great car but buried the article for complete lack of substance. Void of anything worthy of reporting. 8 pictures with 5 sentences of "pap". Seriously? This is front page material?
How much weight was shaved off by replacing the conventional panels/seats/exhaust?
Was the ECU "reflashed" to provide to increased boost or a modified fuel/air ratio?
Height adjustable suspension? Is it pneumatic or manually adjustable.
Did team ZELE figure out a way to bypass the electronic governor that is tied into the GPS system?
Was the launch control modified to account for increased performance?
Will it run Crysis? - inactive, on 01/09/2009, -0/+3And spend the other $120 on spare transmissions. You will need them.
- pkon, on 01/09/2009, -0/+3I'd do the exact same thing if I were you. Hopefully once I graduate from University and get a steady enough job I can afford a used Nissan 350z. I absolutely love these cars and wanted to have one for quite a long time at this point.
- dstruktNine, on 01/09/2009, -0/+3Word... I think most people will just want the ECU upgrade and customize the exterior themselves. I had a GTR, thats what I would do.
- Timpin1, on 01/09/2009, -0/+3ive seen one of these cars driving around m home town. Some kid in a G35 kept cutting him off to see if he would race..the guy driving the nissan didnt even bat an eyelash. it would have been nice to see what one of these can do in person.
- screamokid, on 01/09/2009, -0/+3like a bmw e46 M3 GTR....... mmmmmm 200k oem goodness
- davidjunit, on 01/09/2009, -0/+3The ECU has been cracked. There are reflashes available for it.
- svensko, on 01/09/2009, -2/+4Do you realize how fast the GT-R shifts? Hint: faster than a human.
- svensko, on 01/09/2009, -1/+3I've only driven manuals all my life as well but I don't think you realize how high-tech this transmission is. There's a reason why it costs $20,000 from the dealer.
- Sublimin4L, on 01/09/2009, -0/+2You can't compare the ZR1 to the GT-R because, as you said, it would be apples to oranges. There will be a lighter, more hp GT-R Spec V, as has been the case in the past.
It's more Z06-GTR-911T (Road & Track, as horrid a publication as it is, did a test w/ the 3). Soon, it will be ZR1-GTR SpecV-911GT2 (MotorTrend recently did ZR1-911GT2-599Fiorano-GTR, Feb '09 issue).
The 2nd GT-R you mention probably had the transmission ***** b/c of the launch control. I loathe a lot of things about this car, from it's looks to that dual clutch crap.
In conclusion, Nissan needs to bring back the R34. - Sublimin4L, on 01/09/2009, -0/+2No, it's actually Garage419.
- globalthreat, on 01/10/2009, -0/+2You can find Vipers under $40,000 almost anywhere right now. Do a local search and I bet you'll find one. I found a ton on cars.com under $30,000, and about the finders fee, I don't want you money.
- svensko, on 01/09/2009, -0/+2That isn't what Nissan wants you to do. Changing the wheels voids the warranty. They like it just the way it is apparently.
- iSamurai, on 01/09/2009, -0/+2I envy you,
- IllestGodzira, on 01/09/2009, -0/+2I love the car and what Zele has done especially the black Volks, but I wouldn't pay $205,000 for it.
geez, more than the Spec V....
If I had the money, I would buy all the parts the complete car has and paint it Midnight Purple or the new Spec V's color. Ultimate Black Pearl. - ashgtx, on 01/09/2009, -0/+2I can get a Caterham R500 and a rent a track for a month for that kind of money
- cawpin, on 01/11/2009, -0/+1Do they really have transmission problems that bad? I've never heard of them having problems.
- Neipas09, on 01/09/2009, -0/+1Ya all that ***** might be cheaper to buy, but up keep on it is gonna rape you in the ***** ass!!!
- oep4, on 01/10/2009, -0/+1lol
- HigherLogic, on 01/09/2009, -2/+3It's orange, not yellow.
- Gareth321, on 01/09/2009, -1/+2The R34's not small...
- elryanoo, on 01/09/2009, -0/+1I know the gt-r has a twin clutch transmission all I said was manuals are more exciting to use. Theres no drama or feeling when you shift with a twin clutch and yes I know they shift faster.
- cawpin, on 01/11/2009, -0/+1*****.
- Origin415, on 01/09/2009, -0/+1I like the feeling of it though, largely why I drive a stick shift in the first place.
I thought the point of these cars was to enjoy driving them.
They could at least have it as a cheaper option :P - chmcarro, on 01/09/2009, -0/+1Ya, actually some idiot did install NOS on a rental car and thought the insurance would cover their modifications. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mrP3kiUm1K8
- popstation, on 01/09/2009, -3/+4I'd rather have your mom in a Lambo.
- vertigo32, on 01/08/2009, -6/+7A sprayed ZHZ? Really...since when does Hertz-Rent-A-Car spray the base-model Corvettes they rent out?
Comparing a $135k GT-R to a $40k Corvette is apples to oranges. That Corvette 'only' has 430 horse at the crank and is lucky to break into the 12's with bolt-on spray and a good driver.
On the other hand...I've seen a GT-R get soundly spanked by a ZR1 repeatedly. Another GT-R (magazine ringer) I watched came down to a driver's race with a Z06, but it had trouble shifting after the third run. - Phych, on 01/09/2009, -0/+1Having the driver seat on the right side already makes it faster.
- tatical, on 01/09/2009, -0/+11/4 mile track would've been better than the 1/8 mile.
dugg for the rental car with nitrous - Aeron, on 01/09/2009, -0/+1and buy it used 5 years from now to cut the price in half again
- Axeman2063, on 01/10/2009, -1/+15 vipers? your math, good sir, is broken.
