- nahsrocketeer75, on 07/23/2008, -2/+13But I just got out the calculator and figured that if I move to Venezuela it'll still cost me just as much in gas because my commute will be longer. Darn you, oil companies.
- rpgmaker, on 07/23/2008, -2/+2FTA: "Second Least Expensive:
Tehran, Iran $0.41. Not only does Iran produce beautiful rugs but they also have crude oil. In fact they are second when it comes to production, right behind Saudi Arabia. Looks like being second isn’t so bad after all."
This war is ALL about terror.
- rpgmaker, on 07/23/2008, -2/+2FTA: "Second Least Expensive:
- ironeus, on 08/01/2008, -1/+5The top 5 most expensive gas countries are much more appealing to reside at than the bottom 5 so there's definitely a trade off.
- Lynx55, on 07/23/2008, -4/+5Of course Venezuela has cheap gas...they have tons of oil. DUH....and of course ours is high in the US. We have Bush and co.
- imacommi, on 07/23/2008, -1/+10one word: subsidies
These are not market prices. - Arcueid01, on 07/23/2008, -3/+10They produce their own petrol. If we did we could have it that low as well.
- rpgmaker, on 07/23/2008, -2/+2No, even if the price get lower after drilling offshore (NOTE: It will not get under the $4 price tag) or stop going up somehow, between now and 25 years later, Big Brother will find a way to ***** you up again.
- pedepy, on 07/23/2008, -1/+2We produce our own petrol in Canada too ... and we still get raped..
- debunkthelies, on 07/23/2008, -3/+11This is why Bush hates Hugo Chavez.
- Betogonza, on 07/23/2008, -2/+3exactly, same reason we suppose to hate France. They have free health care system in the world, and they want us to hate them, and tell us that its the worst health care system that we need to have insurance.
- Betogonza, on 07/23/2008, -5/+6Why would the the US government tell us that they are buying cheap gas. They want us to believe they are getting it really expensive thus charging us. Just like a building contractor, they claim that the materials are much more expensive or how they claim "doubled since last year" and that's why they charge more. Its bull, cause they know we cant go and find out ourselves. Thats why also they have that whole fight with Venezuela president and out president just to throw people off. Come on USA, we need to think for ourselves, we are the least disciplined country in the world, yet we still bend over and take it.
- roberto1632, on 07/23/2008, -1/+0Its not the US.. Its the oil companies...
... many people think US has complete control over the importation of oil but since oil companies have lobbyists in Washington most actions done to reduce the price are dampened by the oil companies.
I was born in Venezuela and i recently immigrated to US. Trust me when i say this to you...
The current Venezuelan president has said very bad things about the US, He has said that the US is an imperialist country and has even compared it to Nazi Germany. Its not a made up fight to justify the "overpriced" oil. If there is something to blame.. is our thirst for oil, and the fact that it is not a renewable resource..
You are ignorant! stop saying things that aren't true- NonServium, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1"The current Venezuelan president has said very bad things about the US,"
He's said very bad things about the US *government*. So has every person who possesses both the qualities of intelligence and morality.
- NonServium, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1"The current Venezuelan president has said very bad things about the US,"
- roberto1632, on 07/23/2008, -1/+0Its not the US.. Its the oil companies...
- yellowcakewalk, on 07/23/2008, -6/+5It's clear that Chavez hates our freedom.
- Truzseeker, on 07/23/2008, -5/+6when you have predatory fascism in Amerika...what's new ?
- synthaxx, on 07/23/2008, -1/+1This list incomplete to say the least, here in The Netherlands we're at 1,679 euro per liter ($9,9792 per gallon). That would make us #1...
A quick google tells me that in turkey they're over $11 a gallon.
Not the best report in the blogosphere then. - coffee200am, on 07/23/2008, -2/+3We need to elect Maxine Waters for President.../s
- TimFrost, on 07/23/2008, -5/+1But the USA isn't on that list? Oh, well maybe they should all stop moaning about $4 a gallon 'gas' and thinking they have it the worst then!
- NonServium, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1How far does the average worker need to commute in Norway? How many of them don't have access to any real public transportation?
If it costs a Norwegian 3 times what it costs me to fill up a tank of gas, but he only has to fill it up 5 times a year, he comes out way ahead.
- NonServium, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1How far does the average worker need to commute in Norway? How many of them don't have access to any real public transportation?
- xscientist, on 07/23/2008, -3/+2Not only is this a result of massive government subsidies, Chavez is borrowing tons of foreign cash to make it happen, just to look good with the masses. He is putting the country into huge debt, despite the oil reserves, etc. Read the recent article in the New Yorker for a good bio on this "man of the people."
- OffPiste, on 07/23/2008, -2/+4Luckily with Obama as President our cars will run on Hope, Change, and the Hope of Change. I can't wait.
- swrostmore, on 07/23/2008, -2/+1So why is Citgo still the same price as Gulf?
- Rabbit63, on 07/24/2008, -1/+1Because you are NOT Venezualans. :)
You should be grateful. Citgo was supplying cheap heating oil to poorer areas in the USA already, more than your fascist admin did for anyone.- swrostmore, on 07/24/2008, -1/+1free heating oil, actually.
- Rabbit63, on 07/24/2008, -1/+1Because you are NOT Venezualans. :)
- MarkEarhart, on 07/23/2008, -3/+6"Don't have it that bad" my ass!!! If we did like Venezuela and used our own oil (we have no need for foreign oil anything different is a lie), gas prices could be a fraction of anything we have seen in years. The real reason Hugo Chavez is considered a threat is because he got rid of the vultures who were exploiting Venezuela while the people, aside from a few oligarchs, lived in poverty. Foreign oil companies were literally making a killing. Should sound familiar if you are paying attention.
- DanielQ, on 07/23/2008, -3/+5Isn't Venezuelan gas subsidized by their government though?
- Rabbit63, on 07/24/2008, -1/+2They don't have to subsidise it. They just don't over price it in the first place.
- Hiji, on 07/23/2008, -1/+2Hmmm, may or may not have something do with Venezuela being a socialist country with vast oil reserves?
- AlwaysDuggDown, on 07/24/2008, -3/+2Libs are just so horrible at econ 101 it's amazing. How about this you morons....we'll have a $5,000/person tax, and you can have FREEEEEEE GASSSSSS!!!!
Socialist countries tend to have cheaper prices because they TAKE EVERYTHING YOU MAKE!!!- Rabbit63, on 07/24/2008, -1/+1Socialist countries do NOT take everything a person makes you moron.
They simply remove the top order consumers. The fat cats who TAKE EVERYTHING and give back so little. A socialist country runs the country for the people, and that is the difference.
In a socialist country you expect the government to provide certain basics for everyone and to limit the power anyone may have over others.
No wonder you are always dugg down if this is the extent of your thoughtfulness.- AlwaysDuggDown, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2"fat cats that give back so little". You do understand, that in a free market, the "fat cats" are typically rewarded handsomely for the goods/services that they have provided to the public, which the public has decided of their own free will to purchase...right? Free market principles dictate that transactions occur when BOTH parties benefit...so the wealth one accumulates is a reflection of the goods/services that he/she has provided to society. But whatever...you want to take incentive away and put government in charge....good luck with that, you'll need it.
- Rabbit63, on 07/24/2008, -1/+1Socialist countries do NOT take everything a person makes you moron.
- WCL23, on 07/24/2008, -1/+1Not really a "WTF". It's quite simple really. The Venezuelan government produce their own oil and sell it within Venezuela at heavily subsidised rates. Therefore the Venezuelan people are not paying market rates. In theory any government could do this, but due to the sheer quantity of money involved most governments are not prepared/able to.
- Rabbit63, on 07/24/2008, -2/+3Yes well it is their gas.
- MensDomain, on 07/25/2008, -0/+0I thought we had it bad in New Zealand we pay about $2.10 NZD for a litre
- MensDomain, on 07/25/2008, -0/+0Now looking at it we do pay a bit its about 4 litres per gallon so thats about $8.40 NZD per gallon
