- MulderCat, on 04/09/2009, -4/+19This is a great little car!
- indigothirdeye, on 04/10/2009, -1/+14Sure wish they would release the Golf TDi Hybrid they were showcasing last year. Dont tease us with 69+mpg in a sexy package like a Golf and then take it away.
Now THAT would be the car of the decade! - lekahe, on 04/10/2009, -3/+13I am a bit puzzled over the dates because I have that car already. Maybe we got it in Europe so much earlier.
I just love it! Besides, it is not so little. Compared to it's looks it has amazingly much space for the people on the back seat. - Spinducky08, on 04/10/2009, -0/+9"You know the Germans always make good stuff"
- CheeseBiscuits, on 04/10/2009, -2/+10I guess you've never driven a GTI before. As for "heterosity," those jokes are reserved for Jettas and Beetles.
- mu0p, on 04/10/2009, -4/+12I had a Mk.IV GTI and it was the most amazing car i've ever had. Small footprint, great mileage, room for five, a trunk that could hold my entire drumset and a few suitcases, and the delicious delicious turbo. Can't wait to see what the new GTI can do.
- whatduh, on 04/10/2009, -1/+8I love my VW. My favorite thing is the little light that looks like an engine that is always on. I think it's there to remind me the engine is still running.
- osteor10, on 04/10/2009, -0/+6I own a mkv golf and absolutely love it. I have never experienced any problems and average about 25 in the city with the 2.5liter engine, pretty respectable since each trip is usually around 3 miles one way. Its a great car for just about anything.
The mkVI is pretty much a mkv but ironing out all the small problems(wind noise, some recalls, rattles, weather stripping, ect) I can't wait till it arrives in america, i might just have to trade in the mkv. :) - iKarateGirl, on 04/10/2009, -3/+9Great little car, congrats, VW!! ♥ (my grandma has a new Jeta, gotta love vw!)
- StolenLamp, on 04/10/2009, -0/+6I love my 06 MkV GTI. Best car i've ever driven.
- juicycutlets, on 04/10/2009, -2/+8love my 2007 GTI. total fun.
- bradlea, on 04/10/2009, -0/+5Recently got a Golf V. Great car to drive. Will be upgrading to another Golf when the time comes
- homercles337, on 04/10/2009, -0/+5It doesnt seem that long ago that i was enjoying my 337 (Mark IV)

But now they are up to Mark VI? Damn, im getting old... - ridestp, on 04/10/2009, -0/+5VeeDub represent!
- inactive, on 04/10/2009, -0/+5I always loved the Mark V GTI and it looks like they did a good job on the Mark VI
- geekwithsoul, on 04/10/2009, -0/+4It's a small world after all?
- writeb, on 04/10/2009, -0/+4Respect, but please bring TDI to Touareg, Tiguan (and Audi Q5) in the US!
- laserjesus, on 04/10/2009, -1/+5Strange that so many people complain about reliability. i know many people how just swear on vw and drive them for years... i actually thought that vw had a reputation to build very sturdy cars.
- StolenLamp, on 04/10/2009, -2/+6Times are changing.
- StolenLamp, on 04/10/2009, -2/+6You know nothing.
- MensFitness, on 04/10/2009, -3/+7Great car!
- Gnarstache, on 04/10/2009, -1/+5I wish they color matched the lowers on the MKV
- EvilJon, on 04/10/2009, -2/+6Me too - 2008 model GTI. It's the nicest car I've ever owned. It holds corners like a champ and has a badass turbo for a tiny car. I'm getting the better side of 25mpg to boot.
- peters1023, on 04/10/2009, -0/+3Yeah for Grandma!!!
- marillion, on 04/10/2009, -0/+3I have 184,000+ miles on my Mk IV Jetta TDi. A few things are starting to go bad now, but those repairs are much cheaper than car payments.
- nurbsenvi, on 04/10/2009, -0/+2Armani suit of the hatches.
- deadasdisco, on 04/10/2009, -1/+3yeah well, that's just like, your opinion, man.
- Ultramagnus0001, on 04/10/2009, -0/+2WELLLLLLLLLLLL.......... Lucky U. Sorry just jealous. Hopefully it's cheaper, since they can now make em' twice as fast comparing to old ones. My MKIV Gti is getting old and I want my wife to get a new one.
- osteor10, on 04/10/2009, -0/+2its out in europe already. vw lags on cars to the US. MKV was out for 2 years until they brought it over.
- inactive, on 04/10/2009, -0/+2V10 TDI Touareg already here. Not cheap by any means... 12 qts of oil in that, oil changes are a bit costly to say the least.
- TheGuruStud, on 04/11/2009, -0/+1bragging about 25 mpg.... n/a 3.5L FTW, nissan owns all. Try mpg in the low 30s at 70-80 with a 6 spd for a bigger and more powerful car.
- Ultramagnus0001, on 04/10/2009, -0/+1Till u roll over. He He. Must be nice to take off-roading though.
- joltjake, on 04/11/2009, -0/+1Wow, Road&Track's website blows.
- essjay, on 04/12/2009, -0/+1Wow. As someone who's owned a MKIV and a MKV I can honestly say that you've lost the plot. The MKIV was a horrid bloated little thing that drove like a boat on rough seas. Not to mention the base spec included *nothing* (no central locking, no electric windows, no air con etc etc etc). The MKV is much better (the GTi, which is what I've got, was actually car of the year when it came out).
Personally, I'm not keen on the MKVI's looks and for me the Sciroco looks a more likely option. - jshhmr, on 04/12/2009, -0/+1For me to poop on!!!
- pjsmike, on 04/11/2009, -0/+1Audi and its subsidiaries which includes vw, have the worst reliability according to consumer reports. They have more broken parts than GM and even Hyundai. This study was done last year. So, go waste money on your eurotrash car when it starts break down after 80k miles.
All the mechanics say the same thing - Avoid audi/vw/benz/gm - Ultramagnus0001, on 04/10/2009, -1/+2Hey! I have that light too. So that's what it's for, sometimes it turns off and it still runs. Hmmmm. Still like my 01 Gti VR6.
- aircool, on 04/11/2009, -0/+1Ah my mistake, whats with the burries?
Silly people. - slicecom, on 04/11/2009, -0/+1280,000kms on my 2000 GTI 1.8t and no major issues.
- practo, on 04/11/2009, -0/+1yay! MKV GTI owner here and I love every part of it!
- chicagospur, on 04/11/2009, -0/+1Mk 5 > Mk 4
- jshhmr, on 04/12/2009, -0/+1Hell yeah! By the way, can I borrow a couple of grand for an oil change on my VW?
- shinyplastic, on 04/11/2009, -0/+1Why does is look like a megane?
http://www.pistonheads.com/pics/news/10414/Renault ...
Gross. They should stick to classic GTI style. - lopla, on 04/11/2009, -0/+12005 gti was a life changing vehicle for me. Until then I never gave a rats ass about cars, now when my commute is over I'm sad. I'm also tweaking the mutha left and right, can't get enough of it. It's practical, safe and drives like a frikin Porsche!
- pseudononymist, on 04/10/2009, -1/+2I won't disagree with you since I haven't driven it, but i hope you guys realize how meaningless car awards are, as car makers pay magazines to get their cars reviewed for them. A bit of a conflict of interest there.
- killahwhale, on 04/11/2009, -0/+1MKIV Owner here. Love it. Enough power for daily driving and when I a little left over for when I want to have some fun without getting into some huge trouble.
- inactive, on 04/10/2009, -1/+2Aside from the New Beetle back in 1998, nothing of worth comes to the US market in a timely manner from VW. So while you guys in Europe have been enjoying the mk6 platform, we here in the US are still waiting. The Golf platform is like Star Trek movies, ever other one sucks. mk2, cool. mk3.. meh. mk4, looks good. mk5... wtf. mk6, hell yeah, car of the world bitches.
- RealJimShady, on 04/10/2009, -0/+1Hey is the back seat comfortable? In my MkV it feels like you're sitting on a vat of acid. (My only complaint about the car! Plus I don't have to sit there.)
- MrZaiko, on 04/10/2009, -1/+1Yea, specially ShamWOW!
