- str1fe, on 03/13/2008, -3/+241Dugg for the police not being such hardasses over it
- Andy.D, on 03/13/2008, -2/+198Everywhere you'd drive, you'd have a ton of people afraid to pass you. Sounds fun.
- Mr.Gone, on 03/13/2008, -6/+178Why no mention of the fact that it's supposed to be Barricade from the Transformers movie in the headline/description?
- DCMacHead, on 03/13/2008, -4/+155Kinda cheezy, but cool he's doing it for his kid.
- JoshuaLowe, on 03/13/2008, -15/+152Looks like Jessie should have spent a little less money on his car and a little more money on his house.
- fant0m, on 03/13/2008, -3/+71"My intent was to re-create the movie car," said Vigil, a 35-year-old disabled veteran from the war in Iraq. "When I came back from Iraq, I tried to spoil him. I wasn't the best dad before."
This part of the story stuck out the most. I think that's awesome. This war is *****, true, but at least it's putting life, and what it is to love, into focus. - DaviDTC, on 03/13/2008, -3/+60There are plenty of times where I just wish I was a cop or a cop was near. It is actually a good idea cause it costs the law enforcement nothing, but helps slow down crazy drivers. The only problem might be when someone does something and people see the cop car there and the cop car does nothing, might get some complaints for that.
- crossgrain, on 03/13/2008, -1/+54Nice, but I'd rather have a Bumblebee Camaro.
>:-( - arcooke, on 03/13/2008, -10/+54"When I came back from Iraq, I tried to spoil him. I wasn't the best dad before."
Spoiling a kid like this doesn't make you a good parent. - CobaltBlue, on 03/13/2008, -0/+41I'm not so sure that buying yourself a mustang and decorating it is actually spoiling the kid. More like an excuse for the dad to do what he really wanted to do anyway.
- inactive, on 03/13/2008, -17/+55You are COOL! You SPEED! And call cops PIGS!
You are gonna have SO many dates for the prom! - darlyn, on 03/13/2008, -2/+38Actually, the only thing that makes it look a bit tacky is the lack of actual emergency lights. They don't even have to be real; a little transparency would have been appreciated. But, once again, this is totally awesome.
- Lionhart, on 03/13/2008, -5/+40Whoa what? Las Vegas, New Mexico?
- BESTenemy, on 03/13/2008, -3/+34I find it ironic that this "vigilante" justice car is driven by a guy named Vigil.
- VinnieDaMac, on 03/13/2008, -1/+31If driving a car that says "police" down the side of it isn't mimicking the police then that's crazy.
- blahblahmoose, on 03/13/2008, -1/+28broom broom I'm a police car.
- kingmanic, on 03/13/2008, -4/+26"As long as he doesn't act like a police car? I guess that means no more speeding and running red lights for him..."
-Fixed that for you - DaviDTC, on 03/13/2008, -0/+20New Mexico.
- jemka, on 03/13/2008, -2/+22Hey Alanis, I think that's a coincidence.
- inactive, on 03/13/2008, -5/+25Everyone speeds so get off your high-and-mighty horse.
- fokov, on 03/13/2008, -1/+20As a person that buys used Police cars (they aren't still dressed up but you can still see logos etc from the length of time they were on the paint), just driving them around would slow down traffic. It sucked when people would go slower than the limit because they thought you were on the force. However, I do the same thing when a cop is around. Go just under the limit to make sure he isn't looking to fill his quota. The end result is their purpose: to put a presence that deters certain types of people from going outside the range of safe (speed) driving.
- jasonvw, on 03/13/2008, -5/+22FTA:State police Capt. Craig Martin said the agency is "concerned for the safety of people who think he is an officer and think they may get help from him."
I have to agree, if i saw that car and i needed assistance I'd try to flag it down, not knowing. There has got to be a better way to make a kid happy. It may not be illegal, but it is asinine. - juanej, on 03/13/2008, -12/+27best dad ever
- BoneheadFarker, on 03/13/2008, -1/+16It's kinda fun to watch that...
I was on a long trip with my sister travelling down a highway. We come up to this long line of cars, and we were wondering why everyone was doing the speed limit and no one was passing (this was in the middle of Quebec...*EVERYONE* speeds). She decides she's going to pass them...until she got to within 5 cars from the front and saw the cop at the front of the line. So she slowed down and got back into the right lane. For the next hour, we sat back and laughed as people came up doing 130-140 Kph, slamming on the breaks once they saw the cop, and shuffling into the line...just like we did. It was really funny when we came to a long right curve as someone came flying up... - TheUnlearn, on 03/13/2008, -0/+15official police vocab guidelines state that the appropriate term is "the service" as force gives a negative message.
-Hot Fuzz - norman619, on 03/13/2008, -0/+15That would be real life imitating GTA.
- JDL917, on 03/13/2008, -4/+19How dare they make it harder for you to break the law. They're even making roads safer for everyone else. What the hell is wrong with these people?
- JoshuaLowe, on 03/13/2008, -10/+25He's a disabled vet with a 7 year old son in an economic climate that's harsh and getting harsher. I'm just saying his priorities seem to be off. Just an observation.
- bmc31190, on 03/13/2008, -1/+16if his intentions are good and he's a safe driver it doesn't really hurt anyone.
- zwendkos, on 03/13/2008, -5/+19that is the ultimate hot box vehicle
- EtherGnat, on 03/13/2008, -2/+16He'll enjoy his car until he's in a wreck because the idiot in front of him throws on brakes unnecessarily. Hopefully a van painted like an ambulance will stop to help.
- capiCrimm, on 03/13/2008, -1/+14they're not real lights. It's a blue-red colored bar.
- ahoy, on 03/13/2008, -0/+13yeah... you'd also have a ton of people driving slow as ***** in front of you.
- norman619, on 03/13/2008, -0/+13You tried a bit too hard.
- ToMZiLLA, on 03/13/2008, -10/+22I like how his house looks like a *****
- Waskonator, on 03/13/2008, -4/+16Does it come with a taser?
- EtherGnat, on 03/13/2008, -0/+12The posted limit is the upper limit. You can get pulled over for going too slow, but the lower limit is well below what's posted.
- sphigel, on 03/13/2008, -4/+16I ponder if today's police are closer to the motto "to punish and enslave" than to "protect and serve".
- Treshnell, on 03/13/2008, -1/+12It's just a Mustang.
- MikiMac, on 03/13/2008, -2/+12this will do great in preventing your house from being robbed. if this is not illegal, than i predict that people will buy the same car models as their local police force, and paint them exactly the same :)
it sure is better than having a sign that says " dangerous dog" without having one. - jdconn01, on 03/13/2008, -11/+21Instead of the familiar slogan "To protect and serve," it carries a motto: "To punish and enslave"
- keymastr, on 03/13/2008, -1/+11Yes, I can read. Thanks.
- Hacbarton, on 03/13/2008, -0/+9I grew up in LV and am shockingly aware what a joke the LVMPD are. Although any lawyer will claim he's fine without an official dept. seal. I wish the guy luck when he crosses state borders though.
- pwhalen, on 03/13/2008, -1/+10Had to look it up myself after reading it but there is a Las Vegas, NM.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Las_Vegas,_New_Mexico - Photokon, on 03/13/2008, -0/+9For having blue lights ILLUMINATED while driving, or for just having blue colored lenses somewhere on his car? There is quite a difference there, just like you aren't supposed to have fog lights on without fog, but it's not illegal to just have them on your car.
- Mike89, on 03/14/2008, -0/+8Well, what happened?

This was on DIGG when the movie came out. I thought it was cool. - Rapter09, on 03/13/2008, -0/+8What in the sweet hell is wrong with his house? Sorry the guy isn't a rock superstar, living large; big house, five cars, rent charged. Comin' up in the world. Don't trust nobody got to look over your shoulder constantly.
er... I mean... what's wrong with his house? - shotgunefx, on 03/13/2008, -1/+9I had a RGB lighting system I did for my car. Some custom lights, the rest were light bars I took from kits and just mated them to my custom controller. Due to some differences in the LEDs used inside and outside, I was driving around with what I *THOUGHT* was green, but the grill was glowing a decidedly Boston Police blue/green.
It took me about a half an hour to realize why everyone else was slowing down or pulling over when I got near them.
Anyway, I think it should be illegal for a road driven car. Sets a bad precedent. We've had a couple of people doing such things in New England with bad intentions, but they were actually pretending to be cops. -
