- Error601, on 01/17/2008, -0/+4Toyota should be way down on the list. Nothing new technology wise there. The most interesting is the GM two-mode hybrid transmission. Gets optimal mileage both in city and highway and can still produce a lot of power and towing capacity. It's really the next generation of hybrid design.
- socialpyramid, on 01/17/2008, -1/+4I really hope Tesla can emerge from its current crisis and deliver those cars. I think that would really help jumpstart more clean cars.
- Error601, on 01/17/2008, -0/+2They have absolutely no interesting technology. They make rich boy toys with off the shelf parts.
- socialpyramid, on 01/17/2008, -0/+2Maybe so, but the popularization of EVs that they bring, with all the press, showing it can be done, is so important. Detroit has always said "Americans don't want EVs." Tesla is proving them wrong, and that's invaluable in changing consumer attitudes. The next EVs coming down the pike can then be practical, affordable, better tech.

- Bukowsky, on 01/17/2008, -0/+3I've never heard of Coskata Energy.. But I like them. They claim they can convert trash into ethanol, for less than $1 per gallon... Sounds more like Doc from Back to the Future!

- 1ski, on 01/17/2008, -1/+3i just don't understand why gm doesn't bring back their electric car ... did anyone see that flick -- "who killed the electric car"? it was eye-opening, to say the least. i reminded me of david mamet's play "the water engine."

- diggdestroyer, on 01/17/2008, -2/+1pedrovoltaire and pedrovoltaire2 have been deleted for no good reason. I did not violate the TOS or any US or international law. I am now going to try to end this totalitarian website via Federal law. This is the United States. digg editors should go to prison.
- andyboyd, on 01/17/2008, -0/+2It's mad, but not that long ago you'd be heretical to place Detroit and Green in the same sentence.
- crazegreen, on 01/17/2008, -0/+2I agree! They will lose credibility if they do not move forward with their promises.
