- KISSOLOGY, on 02/16/2009, -5/+6280's Mustangs look like *****.
- TheEngineer2008, on 02/13/2009, -1/+43Top 10 Ford Mustangs (chronological order):
- 2007 Mustang Shelby GT500
- 2005 Ford Mustang
- 1989 5.0 LX
- 1984-’86 Mustang SVO
- 1974 Mustang II [yeah, there's a reason....read the article before posting "buried for '74 Mustang II" :-) ]
- 1970 Boss 302
- 1969 Boss 429
- 1968 GT 390
- 1966 289 Fastback
- 1964½ Hardtop - MeatPlow, on 02/13/2009, -3/+38I touched Elanore from"Gone in Sixty Seconds".
/edit After typing that I realized how pathetic my life is. Gee, I touched a ***** car that was in a movie...yippy. - banshee90, on 02/13/2009, -3/+17the 74-89 mustangs do not look that attractive you could add some other years but the 69 boss 429 is just bad ass
- drlha, on 02/13/2009, -0/+14So the 1984-86 Mustang is basically an overpowered 2 door version of the UK Ford Escort then? Because that is exactly what it looks like.
- SilentSpyder, on 02/13/2009, -1/+12I will continue to bury sites that do this. What's so hard about listing all in one page, even 2 pages are okay but one per page or slideshows suck.
- Elias1, on 02/13/2009, -4/+13I dugg the article and all, but skipping the entire SN95 era (1994-2004)? Really? Not a single notable mustang came out of those 10 years?
- Jdw4rf, on 02/13/2009, -3/+12compared with other cars made in those years... no
- dagr8tim, on 02/13/2009, -0/+8The SVO's looked completely like ass. Personally I think the 68 GT500 should have been there instead of the 390. Plus, no classic Shelby's? WTF is up with that?
Buried as lame. - tommasz, on 02/13/2009, -1/+8No '69 Mach 1? Tsk tsk.
- TriplePlay2425, on 02/13/2009, -1/+8Mustangs from 1979 all the way up to 1993 looks like complete *****. I'm not a fan of 1971 through 1978 either. But they were EXTREMELY sexy all the way up to 1970. Then they became only OK looking IMO during the mid-late 90s, and now they're pretty sexy again with the newer design.
But seriously... Mustangs with the style of the 80s models looked HORRIBLE. Late 60s and 1970 were the best looking, in my personal opinion. Then they immediately took a sharp turn for the worst, starting in 1971.
This list completely fails for including the '74 Mustang II, '84-'86 and the '89 Mustang. Because they were all during the years of horrible body design, from an aesthetics standpoint.
But I love the look of the Mustangs during their GOOD years. And Corvettes and Camaros as well. Damn, I love the 67-69 Camaro SS. And I really want a 68-70 Corvettes. - Tehrab, on 02/13/2009, -2/+9'94 to '98 was a hideous incarnation
'99 to '04 was an improvement and arguably should be in there instead of the '74 - amulrean, on 02/13/2009, -1/+72000 Cobra R.
- inactive, on 02/13/2009, -3/+9The 70s and 80s Stangs should be stricken from history. Even today Mustangs can be pure ***** or very good. Buy a plain Jain V6 and you're getting *****. But people pose in them like they ARE the *****...they are not. Buy a Mustang Shelby GT and you're on the other end of the spectrum. IMO the ***** of low end garbage 'Stangs tarnishes the handful of nice Mustangs out there.
I know the Mustang is supposed to be an affordable performance car, but they aren't really taken seriously because of they way they segment the model. - rerato, on 02/13/2009, -2/+7It's just not the same without the included pictures.
- willsani, on 02/13/2009, -1/+61966 289 Fastback - all time favorite of mine.
- jcaino, on 02/13/2009, -0/+5Actually...the best thing from the 1974 Mustang II is the steering setup. Its probably the most popular hot rod/street rod steering setup and there are TONS of aftermarket kits based on mustang II steering/suspension setups. And this coming from a GM guy.
- Number23, on 02/13/2009, -1/+6A 2000 Mustang Cobra R is truly badass. Built for SCCA Showroom Stock, it had no back seat and you needed a SCCA license to order one.
I was on the track with one (me in my S2000) at a track day at Summit Point and that damn thing sounded like the wrath of God going past me.
http://www.moddedmustangs.com/2000-mustang-cobra-r ... - nittygritty1, on 02/13/2009, -3/+8As a 2007 GT Torch Red, chipped, Mustang Convertible, owner, all that's left to be said is, YES!
- skyshock1, on 02/13/2009, -1/+5+1 The '03/'04 Cobras were terrifyingly fast and looked pretty slick.
- matthewdestroys, on 02/13/2009, -1/+593 cobra
- Namakemono, on 02/13/2009, -1/+5No, MY dick is bigger.
- Frixionburne, on 02/13/2009, -0/+4Just don't turn.
I remember Top Gear doing an episode where they raced an '05 Mustang GT vs a Mustang horse on a dirt track. The horse won.
I was really disillusioned with the new U.S. muscle car retro models when I discovered that I could get that kind of horsepower out of a 2.0 litre VW engine. I understand the image, but that image lives in the 60's and 70's. New cars are new for a reason; technology progresses over time. Having archaic suspension systems and terrible HP/L ratio are what you want with an old car, not something that has more electronics than you'd ever need and more plastic in it than a little tykes play set. Old cars are great because when they break, you can fix them without a bachelors for electrical engineering. - JackpotCity, on 02/13/2009, -3/+7The new Shelby Mustang is apparently not too hot on handling, but 500Hp may allow me to overlook that fact.
- trejrco, on 02/13/2009, -0/+3I don't know, the 2009 GT Premium with an all glass top is pretty sweet ... but I might be biased.
- j0hn, on 02/13/2009, -0/+3The Terminator deserved to be in there. Ford wouldn't have nicknamed it that if it didn't absolutely demolish the competition in 2003 and 2004.
- gl77, on 02/13/2009, -0/+3agreed....almost every custom hot rod i have seen or read about has a Mustang II front end under it.
- JaysFreaky, on 02/13/2009, -1/+4I <3 my Whippled 07 GT. :D
- tinkafoo, on 02/13/2009, -0/+3I touched your mom from.. your mom.
- flyingsquirle, on 02/13/2009, -0/+3Thanks for the list!
- cawpin, on 02/13/2009, -2/+5I don't know how they could leave out the 2003 Cobra.
- hotdogshot, on 02/13/2009, -1/+4Mustang II and not the 04 Cobra? Shame.
- YZBot, on 02/13/2009, -0/+3#11 2003 Cobra
The amount of power people got out of these cars from simple mods was crazy. There aren't called Terminators for nothing. - gtluke, on 02/13/2009, -0/+3That 89lx they have a picture of is a bad example. That's a very very abnormal model. It is one of the few "7-up" verts which 7-up was supposed to have a contest for but fell through. It's an odd green, white interior, and GT wheels.
89 is not significant, they should have given the 87lx notchback for the most popular race car like ever and the 86gt for the first fuel injected one. - TonySki, on 02/13/2009, -4/+7That model of the Mustang sucked ass. totally lost the look and feel of it. I'm glad that none of them were included in the list
- palmer, on 02/13/2009, -0/+2That's because most new cars, and especially the Shelby Mustang, are fat bloated hogs. Not only does this thing weigh in at a disgusting 4000 pounds, but its weight balance has worsened to something like 60/40 (front/rear) from decent weight balance in the '90s.
- palmer, on 02/13/2009, -0/+2Not the Cobra. During that era, the Cobra had a different hood and front bumper; the later Cobras have almost no styling enhancement over the GTs.
- vicsvenge, on 02/13/2009, -1/+3When mustangs stop having live axle rear suspension call me. Then I'll care.
- Phate8263, on 02/13/2009, -0/+2I believe its a unicode character, look in your character map, and you should be able to cut and paste it.
½ - jstem1994, on 02/13/2009, -0/+2In my Navy days around ’89 and ’90 I had friends with Mustangs. They were fond of that one. They also came up with:
Cheap Heads Every Valve Rattles Oil Leaks Every Time. As a Camaro owner, I still thought that was clever! - skyshock1, on 02/13/2009, -0/+2Don't forget the new Thunderbird!!! /facepalm
- Frixionburne, on 02/13/2009, -0/+2Roads are more than just straight lines.
- Frankttank, on 02/13/2009, -1/+3I agree with all of those except for the 74' that one looks like a Chrysler Labaron :(
- xomp, on 02/13/2009, -1/+3dugg for 79-04 chassis "design"
now that's american tradition! - skyshock1, on 02/13/2009, -2/+4I've always been partial to the '04 Cobras - http://image.mustangmonthly.com/f/miscellaneous/03 ...
- Ogre73, on 02/13/2009, -1/+3No GT500 '67 or otherwise = FAIL
- tnoy, on 02/14/2009, -0/+2So, the best thing about the Mustang II is using it for parts?
- j0hn, on 02/13/2009, -0/+2Wow I haven't heard either of those since I was in grade school! HILARIOUS!
- adml_shake, on 02/13/2009, -0/+2First on Race Day. Screw you both.
- j0hn, on 02/13/2009, -0/+2They aren't taken seriously? Next time your doors get blown off by a Cobra come say that again.
