If I catch someone trying it again I don't know if I am going to point the shotgun at them until the cops get there or just shoot them with a flairgun.

not bad idea - clarencepaul, on 05/09/2008, -5/+1We have over 900 million gallons of crude in storage, we need to break it out and that would start a gas war which would grive prices down some, our American Govt. needs to start drilling in Alaska and Texas, Oklahoma, build and update refineries and to hell with what the Gore people think, we will have a wrecked economy because of inaction on our part, this current crisis has nothing to do with supply and demand, Montana alone has over 400 billion tons of shale coal that could be turned into oil, this is beyond rediculous for our Govt. to let this thing get this far out of hand, it is gross mis-management to the hilt, look for an increase in maxed out credit cards and driveoffs if this continues, this earth has plenty of oil in it or substitute fuel, God put it there.
- avaugha4, on 05/10/2008, -0/+5Sorry, drilling in Texas and Oklahoma wouldnt do much, as the reserves there are already producing. North slope reserves are bigger and currently untapped, but still simply wont make a significant percentage of our current consumption even at peak production. We currently get less than half our oil from the middle east anyways. Shale coal is an energy sink, requiring more energy input than it currently yields. Not to mention, the government isn't responsible for any of this (other than maybe the north slope drilling) because the oil companies are the ones that drill and produce, not the government. The oil companies are benefiting from restricted supply, what incentive do they have? In addition, do you realize that currently the US imports less oil than our maximum refinery capability? building refineries is pointless. Not to mention the government shouldn't be building refineries in the first place, the oil companies should.
- Surferess, on 05/12/2008, -0/+1I've got a tip. Buy a Prius. I saved $1,600 in gas this year.
