If you ain't a school girl, don't giggle like one at yourself. - Pissoff, on 06/25/2008, -9/+17I'm going to miss all of these people having something to cry about.
- ensta2, on 06/25/2008, -6/+6I'm going to miss all the luggage they can store
- patforget, on 06/25/2008, -6/+12why do people believe because it's a big engine it pollutes more ????????
old vehicules pollutes more.
new vehicules, small or big engine all respect the same odb2 emission control.- KnightWhoSaysNi, on 06/25/2008, -1/+7I love vehicules! They are better than vestibules, globules and capsules!
- FlyingSpaghetti, on 06/25/2008, -1/+6Don't 'hehe' me you little sissy!
- orthodoxDrew, on 06/25/2008, -7/+2my CR-V has the award winning honda V-TECH engine and 26mpg. hehe.
- B1663r, on 06/25/2008, -2/+3Meh, my hybrid camery is twice as big and gets 38....
- nedzeve, on 06/25/2008, -1/+1I doubt you have a car model you can't even spell.

- jim1977, on 06/25/2008, -4/+7Abridged version of the article:
10: People will miss them being worth anything secondhand - yes, I imagine they will when they have to trade them in.
9: The feeling of safety - note that they only feel safe, and aren't actually any safer than a car.
8: Space - yeah, fair enough; but their size is also what makes them so inefficient.
7: Being an arrogant douche - uh, how sad for you.
6: Being sat high up - uh, buy a van?
5: Sense of adventure - what? When going to and from Walmart in an obese vehicle? Really?
4: Luxury - oh man, there's so many other luxury cars.
3: Capability - yeah, like many people other than rangers and farmers really need a large 4x4 - a small AWD would probably be fine. I mean, how many even see any mud?
2: Intimidation and dangerous, arrogant driving - oh wow. This is getting sad.
1: Prestige - haha. No. - Nosferotu, on 06/25/2008, -1/+3You know, I hate people who post that they're first just to be first, but it seems a damn shame when the opportunity to be heard by a few hundred people (getting that first spot) is wasted on something as asinine and brainless as this comment.
Damn, that was a little more aggressive than I meant it to be. But I'm going to stick with it, because it came from the heart.
- zebco, on 06/25/2008, -14/+27Buried for the 'hehe.'
- ileen4justice, on 06/25/2008, -17/+63I guess the rich parents will have to take their kids to sports practice in a hybrid....oh the injustice! (just kidding) I'm glad they're gone!
- keymanjim2, on 06/25/2008, -25/+19Let's hope that the next time you need an ambulance they show up in a Prius.
- aliengoods, on 06/25/2008, -8/+22Yes, future ambulances will be Prius'. And future fire trucks will be Rav4s.
Nice attempt at fear-mongering, but try again.- keymanjim2, on 06/25/2008, -18/+4No, in the future they will be walking to your aid because the democrats wont let us drill for our own oil now.
- rz8472, on 06/25/2008, -6/+9Nice try. It will take at least 10 years to set up the infrastructure to extract a single drop of oil out of either ANWR or offshore. Raising the CAFE standards on vehicles is the far more effective and immediate way to go.
- alpha19, on 06/25/2008, -6/+5@rz8472: Your argument is fractured. The 10 year argument was used more than 10 years ago, and look where we might be right now. I vote for BOTH. Drill and give me efficient vehicles.
- cllewis, on 06/25/2008, -3/+5so what you're saying is, Clinton shouldn't have prevented us from drilling in ANWR 10 years ago? Raising standards just make new vehicles more expensive and hurts those of us still driving old cars. Increasing supply lowers the price of the gas so the sooner we get started taking oil out of the ground on our own soil, the better.
- nepidae, on 06/25/2008, -0/+0Actually a lot of those type of vehicles will probably be going hybrid over the next 10 years.
- aliengoods, on 06/25/2008, -8/+22Yes, future ambulances will be Prius'. And future fire trucks will be Rav4s.
- OffPiste, on 06/25/2008, -17/+6How dare Americans have ANY choice in what they purchase. Why do they insist on having freedom of choice?
- aliengoods, on 06/25/2008, -4/+13They still have a choice in what they purchase. No one is stopping them from owning an SUV. But that doesn't mean I can't laugh at their overpriced, egotistical roll-toys. Stop trying to turn this into some type of freedom issue *****.
- Echosphere, on 06/25/2008, -0/+2Dugg saying *****.
Wait, was he being sarcastic?
- Echosphere, on 06/25/2008, -0/+2Dugg saying *****.

- cnot3, on 06/25/2008, -2/+5An M3 gets better gas mileage than a Prius if you don't drive like a pansy. Jeremy Clarkson proved it.
- jerrycurley, on 06/25/2008, -1/+3They are NOT GONE!
- keymanjim2, on 06/25/2008, -25/+19Let's hope that the next time you need an ambulance they show up in a Prius.
- dislexicllama, on 06/25/2008, -17/+6haha what a great list.. I actually can't wait to move out of the maternal household and purchase my own car so I may jump on the bandwagon of driving stereotypes.
- nobodaddy, on 06/25/2008, -24/+138I don't think I'll miss anything about SUVs.
- Peachi, on 06/25/2008, -9/+11I'm going to miss all that junk in the trunk! ;)
- evilgourmet, on 06/25/2008, -2/+32I will miss watching the idiots try to parallel park them.
I used to love watching morons park for hours.- marx2k, on 06/25/2008, -1/+3I loved housewives take 4 tries to make it into a mall parking stall and still be a foot over the line
- rudeboy70, on 06/26/2008, -1/+3The only moron is someone who watches people park for hours.
- marx2k, on 06/28/2008, -0/+2Hey, I'd watch someone getting kicked in the balls for hours. Everyone has their hobbies.
- Gurette, on 06/25/2008, -1/+15hahaha... that's so true! I love seeing Hummers in the city searching for parking spots.
- FlyingSpaghetti, on 06/25/2008, -1/+12Or better yet, a soccer mom driving a 8000lb monstrosity just to go get her $5 Starbucks.
- richardstaboner, on 06/25/2008, -1/+9More like a soccer mom 'attempting' to drive the 8000lb monstrosity, putting the rest of us in danger, just to get her $5 Starbucks.
- UNDERSTAR, on 06/25/2008, -1/+3Its really like Starbucks getting the 'mannish looking' soccer mom to drive the 8000lb monstrosity to their shop to buy a $5 "coffee" if thats what you call it.
- FlyingSpaghetti, on 06/25/2008, -1/+12Or better yet, a soccer mom driving a 8000lb monstrosity just to go get her $5 Starbucks.
- IEatHamburgers, on 06/25/2008, -2/+8I'll miss being able to drive through snowdrifts.
- Cybermaul, on 06/25/2008, -3/+4...and pretty much anything else that gets in your way, right up until you high-center it.
- GreatDrok, on 06/25/2008, -1/+8Funny. I remember driving to Aberdeen one New Years Eve when it was snowing really heavily. I was driving a small Alfa Romeo 145 Sport Wagon and not having too much trouble since I was staying in the lane that most traffic was in and going at a stead pace. A Land Rover Discovery coming up behind decided that he had 4 wheel drive and chunky tyres so he could just barge into the outside lane which was rapidly filling with snow and shoot past the rest of us. What he didn't realise is that 4 wheel drive doesn't actually help that much in those circumstances and he nearly flipped the bugger over, especially when he had to stand on the brakes. People driving these tanks are too disconnected from the road to be safe. My front wheel drive small car got me all the way to Aberdeen in atrocious conditions and his 4x4 nearly landed him in an hospital morgue because he couldn't tell it was far too slippery to drive like he normally did.
We are far far better off without having these things on the roads. Let the rescue services drive them by all means, but most people are simply incapable of understanding how to drive them right. You wouldn't let a soccer mum drive a large articulated lorry would you?- T-Maaz, on 06/25/2008, -0/+5One of my favorite quotes from a newscaster (during the winter):
"SUV owners, please remember that 4-wheel drive does not mean 4-wheel stop." - dbalaski, on 06/26/2008, -0/+2Most people get a false sense of security in them -- especially in bad weather like SNOW
My motto -- if it is snowing enough that my Front Wheel drive Passat can't make it , then I am staying inside (Mind you I live in Connecticut -- we know how to drive in snow. )
- T-Maaz, on 06/25/2008, -0/+5One of my favorite quotes from a newscaster (during the winter):
- MattB123, on 06/25/2008, -0/+5I'll miss all the trail damage. Well maybe not so much.
- MavRevMatt, on 06/25/2008, -2/+8I'll miss the ***** in SUVs who pull up so far at a light that I can't see anything.
No wait, I won't miss them. - Raptor007, on 06/25/2008, -0/+5Especially not #2, which basically says they'll miss tailgating to intimidate other drivers. Can't wait for these idiots to get rid of their giant SUVs!
- ChrisshEnzo, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1most of these features are offered by sedans as well or else obsolete
***** it.
- splinter09, on 06/25/2008, -10/+19As I never had one....don't think I will anything about it
- MaxP3, on 06/25/2008, -16/+33sedans are too small for backseat love :(
- zebco, on 06/25/2008, -4/+50Right. Like you're ***** in your car.
You're a digger.- Pissoff, on 06/25/2008, -3/+26Hotels are too fancy the prostitutes he can afford.
- jeskadubyah, on 06/25/2008, -7/+4calm down, digg has entered into the mainstream populace. they're not all virgins anymore. I'm sure lots of people would be ***** if they weren't stuck at work, reading digg articles.
- MavRevMatt, on 06/25/2008, -2/+3You're so far off.
- Divals, on 06/25/2008, -6/+38Once me and my ex did it in the front seat of my old Nissan Sentra... now that was a tiny car, plus she weighed about 350 at that point. Where there's a will, there's a way :)
- Turambar, on 06/25/2008, -3/+28:-O ... :-(
- Pissoff, on 06/25/2008, -1/+57Was it a whale of a good time?
- BoonTobias, on 06/25/2008, -1/+38you sure she wasn't on the shifter?
- RoroCo, on 06/25/2008, -2/+26Did you dump her to move up in weight class?
- Sucka27, on 06/25/2008, -2/+29The honesty of this post pleases me.
- FlyingSpaghetti, on 06/25/2008, -4/+13Dugg up for that fat ass bitch.
- B1663r, on 06/25/2008, -1/+1Fat girls are like mopeds, fun to ride until your friends find out...
- Divals, on 06/26/2008, -1/+1All my friends know I like fat girls. You fail.
- saranagati, on 06/25/2008, -1/+2If people like you would stop ***** fat chicks there would be a lot less ugly fat chicks and a lot more attractive thin ones.
- Divals, on 06/26/2008, -1/+1But I am not attracted to thin chicks, so why would I want to ***** them?
- ItsMyWii, on 06/26/2008, -1/+1I swear if someone takes a screenshot of this and submits it...
- crownedgriffin, on 06/25/2008, -0/+5I can fold the back seat down in my car for 6ft of flat floor space.
- BTime, on 06/25/2008, -1/+6With the money you're saving on gas milage you can now afford a hotel room cheapass
- zebco, on 06/25/2008, -4/+50Right. Like you're ***** in your car.
- SecondCherry, on 06/25/2008, -9/+59I won't miss them. No-one here has them - we pay nearly $9 a gallon for gas here in France. But then, what Americans call 'compact cars' we just call 'cars'...
- GoatMonkey2112, on 06/25/2008, -7/+12We can't all be Napoleon size like you.
- MattB123, on 06/25/2008, -2/+16Not when we're eating all that fatty fast food and driving everywhere anyway.
- StasisRat, on 06/25/2008, -4/+5Wow, France sounds awesome.
- mike17032, on 06/26/2008, -2/+4If you like smelly rude people and slow small ass cars.
- onestrawplz, on 06/26/2008, -0/+2the french really are not that rude. people should be more respectful towards them and their culture, like we'd expect them to do if they were to come here.
- mike17032, on 06/26/2008, -2/+4If you like smelly rude people and slow small ass cars.
- Butros, on 06/26/2008, -1/+4Haha that must suck. Thanks for making us feel better...

- zebco, on 06/25/2008, -17/+100I will miss making fun of all the idiots stuck driving them who used to act like they were
1.) rich
2.) better than everyone else
3.) cool
4.) important.
Clearly you were just a douche bag with too much money or credit on your hands and a desire to seem cool.- jeffhansen, on 06/25/2008, -3/+12Never understood why Hummers came with tinted windows.
I thought one of the reasons you bought one was to be seen in it.- BoneStamp, on 06/25/2008, -6/+7Firstly, tinted windows look better on any car. Secondly, some people actually buy Hummers for the practicality of them, not because they want to look cool. They're not practical for most people of course, but in certain circumstances they are very practical. Even the H3, it can ford more water than it's bigger brother the H2 and it has greater approach angles than any other consumer SUV. Not something soccer moms need, but they might want the most capable consumer SUV they can afford for deep snow and flood prone areas.
- lisawylde, on 06/25/2008, -4/+3What would anyone need a Hummer for? It's too big for off-roading, too unreliable to be trusted, and too expensive to drive.

- whiterabbitobj, on 06/25/2008, -3/+6That entire list was basically a "we'll miss being able to so easily advertise how much of a douche we are". Not a single reason on that list except for Space was legitimate. So, essentially, /agree zebco
- skeeterbug84, on 06/25/2008, -4/+5We won't care because you:
1.) probably couldn't afford one
2.) have self-esteem issues
3.) .. wait, who are you?
4.) are not important
Clearly EVERYONE got an SUV to be super cool and better than everyone else..
Yeah.. - brad3378, on 08/13/2008, -0/+1The ironic thing is that you could use the same list to describe Prius owners.
- jeffhansen, on 06/25/2008, -3/+12Never understood why Hummers came with tinted windows.
- Cerialthriller, on 06/25/2008, -22/+37ill miss the safety factor of being able to actually get anywhere in the snow..
- Pissoff, on 06/25/2008, -4/+20Especially for everyone living in the rural Midwest.
- aliengoods, on 06/25/2008, -6/+9I live in the rural midwest (Wisconsin). I'm not sure how you drive, but the best vehicle I've ever had for getting through the snow was a front-wheel drive stick 4 cylinder car. If it was less that 18 inches, I could get through it. The one time I got stuck is when I tried to ram through a 4 foot snowbank, and even then it only took me half an hour to dig it out. It even beats the truck I have right now (granted my truck isn't 4 wheel drive which would make a huge difference).
- alpha19, on 06/25/2008, -3/+6Oh please. You can't drive through 18 inches of snow with a front-wheel drive car. Just a little bit of exaggeration there dude... maybe 8-12 inches. front/rear wheel drive cars become useless when the vehicle can't clear the level of the snow on it's undercarriage...
If you're talking plowed roads with 18 inches of snow on the grass... ok then! hah. - Misogyny, on 06/25/2008, -1/+5I live in Northern Minnesota and drive a 96' Land Cruiser, full-time 4wd with factory front and rear lockers and 35 inch snow tires. I've lost count of how many cars and trucks I've pulled out of snowbanks. Mixed driving nets me about eleven mpg, and I wouldn't trade it for anything. The capability is well worth the cost to me.
- theonlywizdum, on 06/25/2008, -1/+0I bottomed out my front wheel drive, manual, 4 cylinder, Geo Storm in 4 inches of snow IN MY OWN DRIVEWAY. Then I skidded into a concrete wall at 2 MPH around a iced over, steep, curved hill with a turn and bridge at the bottom. I miss my GMC Jimmy.
- mike17032, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1Then you owned some ***** ***** awful cars.
And stick sucks for the snow. - ixelr8, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1Unless you actually know how to use a clutch properly...

- sodade, on 06/25/2008, -4/+30buy a small subaru - mine is much more trustworthy than my 4x4 truck in the snow.
- Pilot85, on 06/25/2008, -1/+6doesn't matter if you high center it. :(
- theonlywizdum, on 06/25/2008, -2/+0Thats what my dad thought, but it only has around 6 inches of ground clearance, and car tires (as opposed to truck tires). AWD is useless if you have no ground clearance or traction, you just get 4 spinning tires instead of 2.
- fugazied, on 06/25/2008, -0/+3That would be off road. If its just snow, you don't normally need that much clearance.
- diggitydoc, on 06/25/2008, -0/+2PS-- all wheel drive WILL NOT spin all 4 tires.
neither will 4 wheel drive without lockers.
Learn your drivetrains....
- thentro, on 06/25/2008, -4/+24My Subaru will go anywhere and is actually fun to drive.
- RogueMountie, on 06/25/2008, -3/+9I live in Canada. We received 412 cm (162 inches or 13½ feet) of snow this winter. I drive a small car, and had no difficulty getting anywhere.
- trollick, on 06/25/2008, -2/+7Yeah, with all that snow it's hard to get anywhere in Los Angeles.
- gedden, on 06/25/2008, -3/+6Subies FTW
- crownedgriffin, on 06/25/2008, -3/+154WD isn't needed for the snow, and an SUV isn't needed for 4WD.
- legoalert33, on 06/25/2008, -1/+4get a locking diff and don't drive like a dumbass in the snow.
- 1of42, on 06/25/2008, -2/+18If you cannot get around in the snow without a big ass SUV, you are a ***** driver. I (like the poster above) live in Canada; my town got 9 feet of snow this winter, and I drive a sedan. The only thing you really need is front wheel drive - but you can even get along with rear wheel if you put some heavy ***** in your trunk.
So yeah, stop making ***** excuses for why you "need" an SUV.- diggitydoc, on 06/25/2008, -0/+2in canada, like the most northern states in the US, they actually know how to groom and plow the roads... In Pennsylvania, they think "plow" means to throw a billion pounds of salt on the road and wait till morning.
- 1of42, on 06/26/2008, -1/+0And in Pennsylvania you don't get enough snow to bitch about it, frankly.
- diggitydoc, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1you are right, i have never lived anywhere but Pennsylvania! how did you get so smart?
- diggitydoc, on 06/25/2008, -0/+2in canada, like the most northern states in the US, they actually know how to groom and plow the roads... In Pennsylvania, they think "plow" means to throw a billion pounds of salt on the road and wait till morning.
- Obama4FreeStuff, on 06/25/2008, -1/+1Ride a bike.
- Taiyoryu, on 06/25/2008, -0/+2You don't need 4WD or AWD to get around in snow. What you need is a vehicle with traction control and guess what? That feature can be found on FWD and RWD vehicles. You mean I don't have to give up fuel efficiency for safety? Besides 4WD/AWD is not a guarantee you're any safer. In winter, four-wheel drive = four-wheel slide. In fact, traction control, winter tires, and tire chains will give you better winter drivability than 4WD/AWD alone. Also actually learning how to drive in the snow is better than any technology that's equipped on the vehicle.
What 4WD and AWD gets you is better acceleration and therefore a more fun driving experience. Unless you're racing, acceleration and cornering ability makes for a more fun drive than top-end speed.
That said, why the heck do I drive a Mistubishi Mirage? Oh yeah, 0% interest from Mom and Pop Savings and Loan and I telecommute. - marx2k, on 06/25/2008, -0/+1I've seen just as many SUVs down in the median ditch on highways during snowstorms as sedans. Just because marketing tells ya you can pretty much drive through a volcano an avalanche in an SUV doesn't mean it's true ;)
- dgendreau, on 06/26/2008, -0/+2This.
First major snow storm every year up here in NY, I see dozens of SUVs in the median. Their owners seem to think they are bullet proof in them.
And I sure as hell wont miss trying to see around/over their giant ass freaking hood next to me at an intersection.
- dgendreau, on 06/26/2008, -0/+2This.
- Pissoff, on 06/25/2008, -4/+20Especially for everyone living in the rural Midwest.
- chanop, on 06/25/2008, -5/+22I'm trying to get rid of my Jeep Grand Cherokee right now for a car. I'm trying to get rid of it as fast as possible as the prices for these things plummet. The thing is great in the snow, but it's more cost effective to miss a day of work than to continue driving this thing.
- Pissoff, on 06/25/2008, -2/+12Don't they get like 18-20mpg? What are you trading up to, something that gets 24- 28?
Tax title and license on the new car clears that difference, not to mention the ding you take for driving it off the lot ( new or used ).
Figure out how much gas a couple thousand dollars buys, and then see if you're going to make up that difference in 3 years. Lots of people bail on their mid-size only to end up wasting even more money than the gas would of been. It's amazing.- chanop, on 06/25/2008, -0/+6You have a good point for most people. I'm rocking 15 MPG (at least that's what it shows me), and drive about 50 miles one way to work and live 20 miles from the nearest grocery store. I'm looking to trade in the Jeep for a used car (nothing expensive/fancy). Ultimately, I think I will save money in the coming years by making this move.
But yeah, it seams that other people want to go to small cars as part of the trend. I love my SUV, and will miss it when it's gone- CedEx, on 06/25/2008, -3/+1Just pick up your groceries on your way back from work. Save yourself the extra trip.

- richiewrt, on 06/25/2008, -0/+2Good luck trading that thing. I traded a 00 GMC sonoma back in Feb, and the car lot I traded it to started selling it for $9999 and now it has droped to $6999. The price of gas guzzlers are dropping everywhere.

- digitallysick, on 06/25/2008, -0/+4I would dump it now, the longer you wait, with gas going up the harder it would be to sell. My dad has a 4x4 z71 for sale, and no one wants it because of the gas prices.
- SpookyET, on 06/25/2008, -1/+5You won't, mate. I have just received a telemarketing call from Ryan, the general manager, of Rick Hendricks Chevrolet, a local dealership. They have a great event at the end of the month. All trucks, SUVs, and the new Impala with 72 month financing at 0% APR.
You should have heard his enthusiasm. Though, the bastard has probably cried before and after he has recorded that message.
Clearly, they can't sell the bloody things. Why else would they offer to sell one over 6 years with no interest? - wrestlingnrj, on 06/25/2008, -1/+1I just sold my 98 Jeep GC 5.9L a couple months ago, but I kind of wish I wouldn't because I only have my Dodge Charger now and I'm constantly having to use my brother's truck to tow my jet ski, boat or dirtbikes.
- fantasticjon, on 06/25/2008, -0/+1Buy a fuel efficient car for the everyday use, but keep the jeep for snow, off-roading etc. You won't get anything for it.
If you don't own a truck, now is actually a great time to buy a used Truck/SUV as an extra vehicle just to use for hauling, snow etc. You can practically steal them off the lot.
- Pissoff, on 06/25/2008, -2/+12Don't they get like 18-20mpg? What are you trading up to, something that gets 24- 28?
- Sornos, on 06/25/2008, -10/+82SUVs are safe in the way that walking into a room and shooting every person inside is safe. Sure, now that you shot them, they can't hurt you, but at cost of everyone in the room. There is also a danger of your gun taking a corner too sharp and rolling over several times.

They brake slow, accelerate slow, and handle poorly.- jjacksonRIAB, on 06/26/2008, -2/+2If this is true, how come their insurance premiums are cheaper than cars?
- Entroper, on 06/26/2008, -1/+2I don't know where you get this from. SUVs are more expensive to insure. They cause more damage and injury in crashes, and are more expensive to repair.
- jjacksonRIAB, on 06/26/2008, -1/+1That is not factually correct. Only more recently did they jack up the insurance rates at the behest of libtards and whiners who were worried about getting killed in their small cars (there was no data to support the hike), but SUVs are amongst the lowest in fatality rates to the driver according to the Highway Loss Data Institute.
The most dangerous vehicles on the road are cars, typically of the sport variety.

we all know keeping your current automobile(no matter what it is) is better for the environment then changing to another car(even a hybrid) right? So obviously the truelly green will keep their suvs. With the falling price of SUVS most people will be under their loans, so to sell the SUV for fuel/financial purposes would be a financial mistake. Oh thats right the whole green thing is about status, so they can whip out their eco-dick and compare sizes. And the car companies want to force the idea that selling your car for a new one is financially wise. Commercialism and Capitalism at their best, misleading consumers...
Me i view this as a buying opportunity. The prices of the cool cars are coming down, so i may have to pick myself up a 4x4 for the winters. Since my 12mpg daily driver doesnt do so well in the snow :)- mywhitenoise, on 06/25/2008, -6/+1Your car isn't going to last forever...I think that's the whole reason people buy new cars.

Oh and marx, are you laughing at Chevy lasting forever? So far Chevy is the only automaker that has made a vehicle that lasted 1,000,000 miles on one engine, so yes, they do last forever... I bet you're some smug Toyota owner who doesn't even know anything about cars, just what the TV ads tell you... >.> - marx2k, on 06/28/2008, -0/+0FrankTheTank, that's one vehicle that lasted a million miles. Sorry, but I don't base my opinion of a company based on one vehicle. I look at reports from various sources, I read reviews, I talk to people who own cars from companies I'm interested in, etc. If I went by TV ads, I'd probably own a Range Rover because apparently it's exciting, manly, durable, mountain climbing and is a pussy magnet. Instead, I own a Pontiac Grand Am because it was cheap at a car auction in Jersey. But hey, at least I KNOW and ADMIT it's a piece of *****. My main forms of transportation when there's not a foot of snow on the ground is a scooter. Beyond that, I take advantage of public transportation. I use my car if I need to haul *****.

"Even the meekest guy you know could fire up the V8 in his sport-ute and immediately become a bigger, more manly man. Suddenly, he’d take cruel pleasure in tormenting hatchbacks on the freeway. He’d close to within inches of the guy ahead of him and make would-be lane changers reconsider the errors of their ways. In a world where guys sometimes feel like everything’s slipping from their grasp, the behind-the-wheel feel empowered more than a few to intoxication."

- desertDenizen, on 06/25/2008, -1/+1I hope the decline of SUVs creates a market for truly off-road-capable cars, like the rumored H4.
- DreKor, on 06/25/2008, -6/+26That articles boils down to:
The thing we will miss most about SUVs is being able to compensate for a small penis with a giant car.- domokunt, on 06/25/2008, -2/+7I need an SUV to accommodate my huge wonk.
honest - milou, on 06/25/2008, -1/+1Given that it was arnold swartznegers that started this fad for the public. And now we have all his followers exposed. Small penis with small brains. Did you know arnold is a child molester? Because he keeps playing with himself.
- loudmouth11, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1wtf
- domokunt, on 06/25/2008, -2/+7I need an SUV to accommodate my huge wonk.
- woofer1125, on 06/25/2008, -0/+2211) having a drink holder that can fit a baby emu or a small child
- maehem, on 06/25/2008, -4/+12I'm waiting for the Bush administration to bail out SUV owners who have lost all the equity value of their vehicles.
- svensko, on 06/25/2008, -4/+24SUVs aren't safe. Please don't think that bigger = better than. They were classified as trucks JUST SO that the big 3 didn't have to meet the safety standards that cars require.
- BoneStamp, on 06/25/2008, -2/+3Wrong, they're classified as trucks for two reasons:
1. They are often used for towing and this classification allows plate sticker to go on the front plate
2. Because the large SUVs (the original SUVs) are built on truck platforms (chassis + electrical system + power train assembly)- svensko, on 06/25/2008, -1/+3I guess the whole avoiding safety standards was just a coincidence eh? :shurgs:
- BoneStamp, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1Well, think about it logically and decide for yourself... does it actually make sense that a government safety agency, charged with making vehicles as safe as possible, would allow vehicles to be unsafe so manufacturers could make a higher profit? Why do they care about the company profit? They don't favor manufacturers at any other time.
- akatsuki, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1Also fleet mpg sales.
- svensko, on 06/25/2008, -1/+3I guess the whole avoiding safety standards was just a coincidence eh? :shurgs:
- CRM114, on 06/26/2008, -0/+0Nonsense. A sorry fool with a Ford Escort pulled out in front of me and I hit hime square on the passenger side. You should have seen that car disintegrate. My SUV was slightly blemished. I had my 8 year old in the car with me. If I was driving my car, I'm sure we would have been injured.
- BoneStamp, on 06/25/2008, -2/+3Wrong, they're classified as trucks for two reasons:
- BigPapi, on 06/25/2008, -1/+6My wife's CRV gets the same mileage as most cars on the road, 22/28 mpg. It honestly saved my ass last December in Boston when we had a snowstorm that dumped over a foot of snow at 2 in the afternoon on a workday. But I still don't see the need for a giant V8 Ford Expedition, even around here, unless if you're driving with 7 kids all the time. It's just way too big.
- Bishoco, on 06/25/2008, -0/+1We just bought a CRV several months ago. It's averaging about 25mpg and that's mostly city driving. It's a great vehicle.
- noahhoward, on 06/25/2008, -5/+7I've always preferred my F-150.
- rhett803, on 06/25/2008, -3/+2uh...I think you mean Chevy 1500!
- noahhoward, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1Of course, I couldn't do without my 1500.
Whenever I need more capacity I hitch it up to the tow ball and use it as a trailer.
- noahhoward, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1Of course, I couldn't do without my 1500.
- eneve, on 06/25/2008, -0/+1The F-1Million F-2HundredBillion and F-3BillionMillion will all be sorely missed.
- usafdave, on 06/25/2008, -0/+1Amen, brother.

Darn... - xMissLucy, on 06/25/2008, -6/+0They just want to make it harder for people to pollute the earth!
Darn... - ZephyrNinety, on 06/25/2008, -1/+3One day we'll all be riding mopeds with engines the size of weedwhacker engines.
- widgetmaker, on 06/25/2008, -2/+1Good
- usafdave, on 06/25/2008, -1/+1Wow... sounds great. Can they freeze me until that day so I can be guaranteed to experience that?
*yawn* - marx2k, on 06/25/2008, -0/+0My 2001 Aprilia Scarabeo 50cc gets 90+ mpg. My 150cc of the same model/year gets 85+ mpg. I have no problem if more people hop onto that bandwagon.
- noahhoward, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1Working on shoe-horning a twin turbo V-12 into a Vespa.
- 0260, on 06/25/2008, -0/+10i like SUVs that actually do SUV work. offroading and hauling and such. they dont belong in the city though and i dont like the SUVs that are designed for the city/suburban soccer moms
- Crosshare, on 06/25/2008, -0/+6OMG, common sense in this thread. I drive a full size truck, I live in Colorado. 6 months I don't really need it, the other six I do need it for my winter commute to work and back. And don't say you can get around in a car just as easy, that's *****. I have 5 steep hills between my house and work, with the tires I buy for my truck I can wind around all of the land boat cars that have no clearance trying to make the snow commute. Plus I like the utility of a bed, going camping in the summer, etc. I know this is about SUVs but all you hippies need to realize that some of us do put utility vehicles to use. It's the 80% of owners that are jackasses that commute to a city job in places like Texas without bad weather in flat lands that make us look like this. If I lived in TX, CA, FL I would still be driving a 4cyl Civic.
- merryworks, on 06/25/2008, -1/+608 Titan full size truck here but I bought it to be able to pull the camper I own. There is no 4 cylinder that can pull that weight.
- UltramegaOK, on 06/25/2008, -2/+22I wont miss the following SUV drivers:
Soccer moms
Women on the way to Starbucks who can't see over the steering wheel
The ***** guy compensating for his small penis
Wannabe rappers- Pissoff, on 06/25/2008, -1/+3I think the last 2 items on your list can be combined.
- digitallysick, on 06/25/2008, -2/+4I had one a few years ago, i miss the room, being able to lay the seats down and actually sleep 2 people in the back was nice. I still had room for my subwoofers in the back to. It was kind of like a truck, so you could drive over curbs when needed. Mostly i miss the room, i sold it off years ago , gas cost to much for it then , i can't imagine now.
- CedEx, on 06/25/2008, -3/+3You know... station wagons have just as much room if not more.
- marx2k, on 06/25/2008, -0/+0But where do you put the subwoofers?!?!?!?!?!?! THINK OF THE SUBWOOFERS!!
- CedEx, on 06/25/2008, -3/+3You know... station wagons have just as much room if not more.
- Fallout911, on 06/25/2008, -4/+9Buy a van it's the same ***** thing with more room!!

- Pissoff, on 06/25/2008, -0/+4No kidding, and get this, there are 3,000+ different models to choose from?! Personally I would be happy if there were just 3!
GRAY 2 DOOR MODEL
GRAY 4 DOOR MODEL

We have 2997 too many choices and I'm mad! Well see you later, I'm going to go act better than everyone else at the local non corporate coffee shop. - mike17032, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1Its a man thing, you wouldnt understand.

- marx2k, on 06/25/2008, -2/+1I will never understand people who place gender roles onto automobiles.

- CRM114, on 06/26/2008, -0/+0Same thing except that it's for WOMEN. Bwahahahaha
- usafdave, on 06/25/2008, -3/+10...and no balls...
- WolfGTZ, on 06/25/2008, -7/+7There is absolutely nothing to miss since only 1% of the people driving them actually used them for something they were meant to be used for.
- BoneStamp, on 06/25/2008, -0/+1I think it's more like 60% (citation needed)
- apextek, on 06/25/2008, -0/+2screw that, I drove mine through a flood that made my street a 5 foot deep fast moving river, up cliff sides, through 8 feet deep mudd. Through countless blizzards.
When i lived in upstate New York, it was great to know you could still get out of your driveway when 4 feet of snow fell over night and there were 7 ft snowdrifts.
