- haikuFU, on 03/06/2009, -0/+11You are both wrong. E85 puts out less power per volume, something like 80% that of gasoline. But, E85 DOES have something to do with the power. E85 has an octane rating of between 100 and 110. Gasoline is 87-94 (no more than 91 or 92 in most areas though).
The increased octane can allow for higher compression, or higher boost pressures for forced induction engines. Both of which give much more horsepower. Higher octane ratings reduce the chance of fuel detonation, which will ruin an engine. Modern cars have knock sensors which retard the timing when detonation occurs, reducing the power available to the engine and severely impacting mileage. - jboitnott, on 03/04/2009, -1/+12That thing is a tank. I would hate to be the other car in a crash involving a Bentley.
- ThatGeek, on 03/06/2009, -1/+8no black rims look awesome. so much cooler than the garish chrome ones
- immatellyouwhat, on 03/06/2009, -0/+6When do I get my stimulus bentley?
- KMartSheriff, on 03/06/2009, -0/+6Awesome. An article that has ZERO to do with politics and yet some asshead like yourself had to go and bring it up.
- raphaeltmnt, on 03/04/2009, -3/+8I want a Bentley.
- supersonicjim, on 03/06/2009, -3/+8Newer engines more powerful than old ones; news at 11.
- viv4l4b4m03, on 03/06/2009, -1/+6I hope Top Gear gets a hold of this beast.
- Armor1901, on 03/06/2009, -1/+5The most powerful street-legal Bentley is a ***** automatic?
- inactive, on 03/06/2009, -0/+4I'll take your Nintendo cash and raise you with my Monopoly money
- mx13punk, on 03/06/2009, -1/+5I'm not a car guy. I'm just not. But I would make passionate love to that cars tailpipe.
- inactive, on 03/06/2009, -0/+3Your comment history is priceless, Nanci Pelosi.
- strictnein, on 03/06/2009, -0/+3Jesus... look at this guys comments. He's got a real big hard on for republicans. Did Zombie Ronald Reagan touch you in a bad spot or something?
- twiztidsinz, on 03/06/2009, -0/+3I'd had to be the (person in the) other car in a crash involving a Bently period.
- ssquared22, on 03/04/2009, -2/+5I want ANY Bentley, but this one is just ridiculous.
- mcsia, on 03/06/2009, -0/+2Chrome is disgusting... I personally think black rims look great... They certainly are not rice nor nearly as bad as chrome
- crazzy88ss, on 03/06/2009, -0/+2ok... but the story's about bentley?
- TexMexRex, on 03/06/2009, -2/+4It can, but makes less if the vehicle can still run on gas like this one. It also takes .7 gallons of gas to run the farm equipment to make a gallon of E85 so.. what's the point? Other than taking food from poor people of course.
- TBombadil, on 03/06/2009, -2/+4i love that car in white, omg looks so good.
- shortkayke, on 03/06/2009, -0/+1I would sell a kidney for this...strike that, i would sell both of them for it.
- Vodd9, on 03/06/2009, -1/+2A tank? How would you qualify that thing then?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iQHRNeY9zUU - bigsteve, on 03/06/2009, -0/+1Any more, with drivetrain computers being as advanced as they are, automatics are beating manuals hands down. Seems the only times manual comes close is when the engineer that built the damn thing gets behind the wheel, and knows every tooth on every gear like the back of his hand.
Manual may be more fun, may make you feel like you're more in control of the vehicle, but anymore, finely calibrated computers in the higher-end automobiles that know down to a fraction of a second exactly when to shift end up winning out. - Kevin108, on 03/06/2009, -2/+3A little hit: it's faster on regular gas than E85.
- S2000, on 03/06/2009, -0/+1Exactly. In the end, the E85 could possibly make a good bit more power, but you're also going to be burning more of said fuel to do it.
- Gr00ver, on 03/06/2009, -0/+1I 'need' that car. Just think of the time I could save on my commute.
- drexl, on 03/06/2009, -0/+1I want this *****!
- GilThielander, on 03/06/2009, -0/+1M1 Abrams - (1500 hp) / (61.4 metric tons) ~= 24.5 hp/metric ton
Mazda Miata - (166 hp) / (1.09 metric tons) ~= 152.3 hp/metric ton
Bently Super - (621 hp) / (2.4 metric tons) ~= 258.8 hp/metric ton
I started this post as a smart ass reply to your question, since this car is very heavy. But it seems to fare pretty well in the power to weight ratio. It's still a very heavy car, and there is much more to a "tank" than it's power to weight ratio. - dengzhi, on 03/06/2009, -1/+2in other news... when does the new top gear season start?
- tubeguy, on 03/06/2009, -0/+0What's the ΒΌ-mile time? I don't really care about anything else.
- autowega, on 03/07/2009, -0/+0it is a great car, and this white color is one of the best colors for Bentley, maybe only the black is better
- Steverrific, on 03/06/2009, -1/+1Sometimes I really wish I had piles of cash, like "Nintendo" piles of cash...
- Linguo, on 03/04/2009, -2/+2Anyone should feel free to purchase me one.
- pgouy, on 03/06/2009, -2/+2Uh? What?
I don't know about American or European ethanol (E85 as you call it), but here in Brazil, with our ethanol, our cars usually develop a little better compared with gas. Its not much but you can get around 1 to 5hp more.
Ethanol has a higher compression ratio, so the engine gets a little boost, or a 'kick' if you ask me. - ScrewedUp, on 03/06/2009, -0/+0What a beauty. I'm Not Worthy I'm Not Worthy
- englishquantum, on 04/05/2009, -0/+0Only rich men get Bentley..me, i'm not rich man..yet.. wait.. :p

- Silverskater145, on 03/06/2009, -1/+1Em que cidade voce mora?
- IvesMozart, on 03/06/2009, -2/+1Soon we will see some arabs drifting those.
- bimtott, on 03/06/2009, -2/+1I wish I had a tame racing driver to hand this over to...
- jasonh1234, on 03/06/2009, -2/+1Am I the only person that finds this car not so attractive on the exterior?
- Pokaris, on 03/06/2009, -1/+0If there's one thing you can count on from ethanol bashers it's using out dated information. I can't name one major piece of farm equipment made after the 1970s that runs on gasoline. Crops are also transported by semis, which also dont run on gasoline. The only real gasoline use in farm is the farmer driving to their equipment, and I somehow doubt the overhead from that is much.
- Th3Wh1teRabb1t, on 03/04/2009, -5/+3I hate black rims...especially when I see the aftermarket ones.. although I'll admit a small number of cars can pull it off. does anyone else agree?
- kvgirard, on 03/06/2009, -5/+2e85 has a lot to do with it i would say. gallon for gallon, e85 makes more horsepower than regular gasoline.
- inactive, on 03/06/2009, -5/+1Yo, dawg. I hear you like...
Seriously though, black rims are for ricer fags.
Now listen to me ride off with a swarm of bumble bees, aka my muffler.
