- namisung, on 11/08/2009, -0/+15i like the idea of being able to digg while on the bike.....
- DarthMonkey, on 11/08/2009, -0/+13Brings a whole new meaning to "crashing".
- inactive, on 11/08/2009, -1/+9Can it outrun Crysis?
- growvideos, on 11/07/2009, -0/+7What happens if the bike gets a virus?
- loper, on 11/08/2009, -0/+7I'd love to try out an electric bike, 100+ MPH and silent, cool. I hate loud pipes.
- depro9, on 11/08/2009, -0/+7Heloo, LINUX! :P
- depro9, on 11/08/2009, -1/+7YES @ 130 MPH!
- DWatch, on 11/08/2009, -0/+6Bikes are not just about performance. I have a Honda cruiser bike, and I certainly didn't buy it for "performance". It barely goes over 80MPH (not that I ever push it that hard... I rarely get over 65.
Sometimes its about economy; cheap on gas, cheap to purchase, cheap to insure, cheap to maintain, cheap to park in cities, etc. Sometimes its about the ride... cruising through the countryside on back roads, sailing through traffic jams by splitting lanes, etc.
I doubt most Harley riders think about screaming down a curvy road dragging their knees at 160MPH.... people buy bikes for different reasons. This bike fills the niche for a particular rider, I'm sure. I would love a decent electric bike, if they could make one for around the same price as a regular gas bike, I would get one in a heartbeat. - d1a1s1, on 11/08/2009, -1/+7No they dont.
- darkciti2, on 11/08/2009, -0/+4Carputers have been in cars for years now. It's nice to see them developing into motorcycles. However, I have to wonder about the practicality of it. Hopefully it's used a server to distribute data, rather than hosting an interface. I can't imagine trying to interface with a computer on a bike while driving it. Touchscreen is out because you wear gloves, and obviously keyboard/mouse won't work. If it has Festival you could do voice though...
The article is pretty thin on details. - JohnnyDo333, on 11/08/2009, -0/+4For those of you who haven't actually read the article, the on board computer is meant to tune the motorcycle, not let you twitter while you ride.
“As soon as you pull into the paddock, you can connect to the bike via your laptop and make changes,” Mr. Hussain said. “Or we can be your technical team if you just want to go racing.”
Killer idea. I'd like to see something like this replace the stupid "check engine" light in vehicles today. - Kardde, on 11/08/2009, -0/+4Remember that scene in Terminator where John Connor hacks into one of those motorcycle terminators using a USB thumb drive?
THIS IS WHERE IT ALL STARTS!! - chunkybeefstu, on 11/08/2009, -0/+3Anyone digging you isn't a ninja.
- PanthusDire, on 11/08/2009, -0/+3Agreed I was just gonna post that. Side shot of the bike...Yipt dee do dah, day. How 'bout a shot of the lcd screen even. Very disappointing.
- borez, on 11/08/2009, -1/+3Before you go to town on me... it's a South park reference.
- DAC1138, on 11/08/2009, -0/+2you see Terminator 4 yet?
- Fartbandit, on 11/08/2009, -0/+2Time to 'Upgrade' my yammy?
- MWeather, on 11/08/2009, -0/+2Unless my windows are rolled down, your loud pipes aren't doing anything to make you safer.
- Jonjonr6, on 11/08/2009, -0/+2Kawasaki still makes a 250?!
- DAC1138, on 11/08/2009, -0/+2Why?
- Spiffness, on 11/08/2009, -0/+2You and the other 6 million on the road vs what... a few hundred RC8's (the KTM bike they ripped the motor out of to put in electrics)?
CBR's are great and all, but they are just another lump of Japanese sport bike. This coming from someone who likes Japanese sport bikes. - perfunction, on 11/08/2009, -0/+1No pictures of the hardware? Weak.
- JohnnyDo333, on 11/08/2009, -1/+2God man, did you even read anything about this bike?! This is an electric motorcycle designed to race in the TTXGP - a zero emissions Grand Prix. Comparing it to some cheap 600 is a joke. The "useless" features you're talking about are designed to assist in tuning the bike for performance - not exactly a whiz-bang gadget.
I recommend you stop worrying about what your biker friends think and focus on being less of a dumbass. - V1ncent, on 11/08/2009, -0/+1How do you reboot a motorcycle? Kickstand down while throttling up...
- thefirelane, on 11/08/2009, -5/+6Yes, now in addition to being hard to see you can be hard to hear also! Woohoo for safety!
- jamdogg, on 11/08/2009, -1/+2WANT
- thefirelane, on 11/09/2009, -0/+1I think you're confusing Doppler effect with super sonic travel
- Jonjonr6, on 11/08/2009, -3/+4anyone burying you is an absolute idiot.
- marx2k, on 11/11/2009, -0/+1I'd chalk it up to a driver issue.
- wassim2k, on 11/08/2009, -0/+1Last tweet: "rolling down hwy 1, nice and sunny, oh crap; AARRRGGHHHH!!"
- thefirelane, on 11/09/2009, -0/+1I think you're confusing Doppler effect with super-sonic travel
- ophello, on 11/09/2009, -0/+1This is retarded.
- gronkers, on 11/08/2009, -0/+1The good bikes come with data collection these days, just plug in laptop when you finish your run and analyze away.
Serious track time people hook up onboard camera and gps units and produce really neat videos with all sorta of interesting data. - musntSurfatWork, on 11/09/2009, -0/+1Cops logon to incar computer, TraceRoute them geeks on these lol ibikes. e-mail them speeding tickets.
- marx2k, on 11/11/2009, -0/+1Meh, my Yamaha FJR 1300 kicks both of those asses :D
- billalbertson, on 11/09/2009, -0/+1Ever hear of the doppler effect? Loud pipes are only going to work for the people behind you- you know, the ones that can already see you. Well, that, and they will annoy the heck out of your neighbors.
- Enkairi, on 11/08/2009, -1/+1Lol, they think a sport-bike that hits 130mph is fast. If that is the top speed it sucks (that maybe great for a 0 emissions bike) but that is horrible in sport-bike terms. My gsx-r will hit at 165mph radar tracked, not speedometer tracked.
- Jonjonr6, on 11/09/2009, -1/+1Oh gee, EXCUSE ME for not saying "sportbikes".
- MickFu, on 11/08/2009, -1/+1Digging while riding!
- Jonjonr6, on 11/09/2009, -1/+1***** you dick.
- Jonjonr6, on 11/08/2009, -1/+1Not that I need to go 130, but almost any 600 will do 160.
I'm thinking they put something essentially useless on this thing just to get people interested in it at all, cause otherwise, you're spending 5 times more than a traditional bike, only to go slower.
Bikes are about performance, not whiz-bang gadgets.
I think my biker friends would laugh at me for being an enormous geek if bought one of these. - MacBookForMe, on 11/08/2009, -4/+1Surely, Norton is already planning it's Security Box for the bike...
- borez, on 11/08/2009, -6/+3But... ***** don't ride quiet bikes.
- cobra1729, on 11/08/2009, -7/+1My CBR 600rr and Kawi 250 look nicer:

Maybe this winter project would be putting an embedded system on the CBR for monitoring track conditions :). - socoolisme, on 11/08/2009, -9/+1Linux, they can't even give that OS away.
