2. Dump money into super fast Segway
3. ????
4. File Bankruptcy! - richgustavson, on 04/07/2009, -6/+196OMG I would love to ride in one of those while wearing my Snuggie.
- PterionFracture, on 04/07/2009, -22/+195Well, it's nice to see that the bailout money is being put to good use.
- fattsoo, on 04/07/2009, -7/+129LOL, it reminds me of the SOUTH PARK episode where the teacher build a superfast human transporter
- djdalai, on 04/07/2009, -6/+78WALL-E?
- purkel, on 04/07/2009, -4/+64In the long term, I think personal vehicles like this are a good idea. imagine how traffic would free up if everyone in new york city or los angeles was riding in one of these. wayyyyy more people could fit on the roads and the city traffic would flow much better. (i wouldnt want to ride one of these tiny things around with cars/trucks on the road. you'd be roadkill if someone hit you)
- zephc, on 04/07/2009, -4/+62The video mentions social networking. Quick, someone throw $100 million at the company!
- dxgg, on 04/07/2009, -1/+56That was two words and a logogram.
- lhughey, on 04/07/2009, -7/+58So how is it that the idea of a scooter is great for short range urban transportation, but this is terrible? I'd much rather have this than a scooter or even a motorcycle. Are those death traps also?
And for the right price, i could see this type of transportation being sold in Europe and even places like India in the future. - FelixdaaHack, on 04/07/2009, -10/+60Two words: Snow & Ice

- AlexanderBlue, on 04/07/2009, -0/+46I would love to commute to work on my bike regularly, but it is a logistical challenge:
- I have a relatively short (<10 mile) commute by car. By bike, my commute is just over 18 miles because I have to go well out of my way to make a river crossing without getting on a freeway. And the route I would take is NOT bicycle friendly along some stretches.
- I live far enough north that I have to deal with snow and ice from November through March... or sometimes April. =(
- I carry one or two laptop computers between my home and office every day.
- There are no showers in the building in which I work, so making the choice to commute by bike will negatively impact the way I look and smell to my co-workers.
I'm not saying it's impossible. I'm just pointing out that there are challenges people face when considering commuting by bicycle. - RIB08, on 04/07/2009, -8/+51It's narrow minded not to consider this idea.
- jaijai, on 04/07/2009, -3/+42They see me roll on, My Segway, I know in my heart they think I'm white and nerdy
- Formaldehydex2, on 04/07/2009, -4/+36If any other company had unveiled it, responses would have ranged from "meh", to "hmm, interesting". But because it's made by Segway, all it gets is "OMG Segways make you fat and ghey lolz!" Why so hateful on innovation?
- drmangrum, on 04/07/2009, -3/+34I absolutely LOVE the hypocrisy of most of these comments.
-People bitch that GM made a lot of overly large vehicles that nobody wants.
-India comes out with a complete death trap of a vehicle that's pretty much a lawnmower wrapped in sheet metal and everyone gushes over it as an achievement to India's "advanced" engineering skills.
-GM tries something bold and innovative that actually answers a lot of problems in city driving and everyone calls it a waste and a joke.
Honestly, some of you people are a piece of ***** work. You want smaller vehicles, but when one actually comes out, you whine. I'm guessing most are "do as I say, not as I do." - inigomntoya, on 04/07/2009, -3/+32Yes. If by 'good use' you mean, 'not hookers' then, yes. It is nice!

- inigomntoya, on 04/07/2009, -0/+26Mr. Garrison: [Randy walks up to the desk] What do you think, Mr. Marsh? All set to put a down payment on that baby?
Randy: Well, yeah, but I have one question about the way it works.
Mr. Garrison: Sure.
Randy: Well, [walks back to IT] it seems all the buttons on these front and rear flexigrips are also found on the side of the vehicle.
Mr. Garrison: Yeup.
Randy: [returns to the desk] Well... so... they don't really... do anything.
Mr. Garrison: Right.
Randy: So then, couldn't I just order one that works without going in and out of my ass and mouth?
Mr. Garrison: [thinks about this a moment] Well, I... guess you could. [a view of the showroom]
Man 1: Huh?
Man 2: Whazzat?
Man 3: Wha- what did you- what did he say?
Man 4: What? - K4Lic0, on 04/07/2009, -2/+28This was hardly the government's doing.
- satori3000, on 04/07/2009, -2/+28I'm glad I don't live where you live.
- Zaxcomp, on 04/07/2009, -2/+28Some come with handy motors now.
- inactive, on 04/07/2009, -0/+24It's better than flying.
- BassMastr, on 04/07/2009, -31/+54I hope this isn't what our bailout money is being used for.
- vilago, on 04/07/2009, -0/+23EEV-A!
- nofatchickss, on 04/07/2009, -23/+45more useless ***** from GM
- RUBallsingMe, on 04/07/2009, -0/+21I think step three might be "model it after Axel's vehicle in twisted metal"
- Stuffburger, on 04/07/2009, -5/+25They already have a small two seater small vehicle to travel short distances around cities at fairly low top speeds. It's called a scooter. A nice one sells for two grand, gets 100+ miles per gallon and seats two. Let me know when this thing can compete.
- LargeStack, on 04/07/2009, -13/+33Shut the lights on your way out GM
- tobiasproject, on 04/07/2009, -3/+22just peein' everywhere
- WELLDOITLIVE, on 04/07/2009, -0/+19Also while chopping nuts and sham-wowing random people at stop lights!
- PrometheusTitan, on 04/07/2009, -2/+21Seriously. I'm surprised at how negative the reaction to this is. It's not going to replace the Veyron any time soon, but for tooling around the neighbourhood, even going through bigger urban areas, I can se this being totally useful. As for why you'd go with this over a scooter: turning radius, stability, full enclosure, ability to fairly easily add on a storage compartment (I could see them building in a clip-on trunk for the back), etc. This might not suit 100% of the driving, but for major cities, why not? It doesn't actually seem that different an idea than something like the Tuk-Tuk taxis in Thailand, only smaller and using fancy gyroscopes.
- inactive, on 04/07/2009, -1/+19This is OnStar, we've detected that you've fallen over....
- Chompy, on 04/07/2009, -3/+21There are already millions of vehicles on that roads that are more dangerous than this thing; they're called motorcycles.
- Chompy, on 04/07/2009, -3/+21Shhh, these guys are busy justifying their cars. Your logic has no place here.
- KH47, on 04/07/2009, -2/+18SQUIRTLE!
- Kingj3144, on 04/07/2009, -1/+16I've done it.
hills are fun... - bury, on 04/07/2009, -0/+13Don't forget rain. Passing cars splashing huge puddles through the open side of your "PUMA."
- Taiyoryu, on 04/07/2009, -0/+12It has a top speed of 35mph and will most likely be classified as a scooter and subject to the same laws and regulations as a scooter. Hence, you won't be seeing them on the highway. It also has a maximum range of 35 miles---so 17 miles one-way. i.e., within the city limits of your place of residence. Anywhere, a scooter can go, this vehicle can go. No need to adjust infrastructure. Cars already share the road with motorcycles, scooters, and bicycles.
- bousquetcm, on 04/07/2009, -0/+11Woa... saw this on the Today show. GM Rep said that the vehicle shown is a complete concept or beta. I know that everyone is real quick to hate on GM give the bail out and rightly so. But this type of development with a fully electric urban vehicle is actually a step in the right direction. These things would whip through NYC while all the full sized cars are stuck in traffic.
- rmad1949, on 04/07/2009, -3/+14...at 35 miles an hour?
- alcapwn9, on 04/07/2009, -1/+12GM accidentally the profit.
- AlexanderBlue, on 04/07/2009, -0/+11Writing from experience as a happily married professional man that owns several sports cars and dated quite a bit when I was younger:
1) Most women seriously do NOT give a rat's ass about what you drive.
2) The remaining women that do care what you drive are either fellow car enthusiasts (+1) or superficial gold diggers (-10).
Suggestion: if you have them, you should "pick up the ladies" using your personality, intelligence, humor, and good looks. And if you're a boring, stupid, humorless, ugly and really think you need a crutch... a cute dog will improve your odds far better than a cool car. - Kingj3144, on 04/07/2009, -4/+15Bicycles fit pretty much every thing they said
"green" energy efficient
simple machines
more man, less machine
you can fit half a dozen bikes in the space of one car
a average biker goes around 10-15mph and biking regularly that can be boosted up
ohh and they are cheap, widely available and do not need licenses.
agree with Alexander on this one, more bike infrastructure is needed. - beetrixi, on 04/07/2009, -1/+11How about some public transportation instead?
- bury, on 04/07/2009, -0/+10"The partnership with Segway began about 18 months ago, predating GM's emergency survival loans from the government."
