- squiggie, on 12/16/2007, -0/+13Looks pretty sweet! I love my Mazda6, and if they beef up the engine in this MazdaSpeed version, I'd consider upgrading.
- comineeyeaha, on 12/16/2007, -0/+9Why can't mazda just make all of us happy and offer AWD with the speed3? Thats all I want for christmas.
Ok, so that was slightly off topic, but I don't give a damn. - orp2000, on 12/16/2007, -0/+8Don't know what you're smokin' there Sparky, but this is not reliable information you've given us. I've had 4 Mazdas and have not had a single problem with a piston ring. One of my Mazdas had over 300,000 miles on it when I sold it - no rebuilds or any major problems. Currently I have a Mazda Protege with over 80,000 miles that runs as well as it did when it was brand new (I'm the original owner). This is, of course, anecdotal evidence, but I'm also on Miata.net frequently and have not seen this as being a problem at all. I would check your sources if I were you, and feel free to offer an apology to Mazda, as they make good cars - so much better than Mitsu, with whom they do not deserve to be lumped together.
Respectfully. - AeroSquid, on 12/16/2007, -0/+4The current/old MazdaSpeed6 has a better engine than your 6. The Speed 3 and Speed 6 have the same 4cyl DISI Turbo that has far more muscle than the standard 6cly your car came with.
/hugs my Speed3 - Archer, on 12/16/2007, -0/+4Owns it how? I went into the dealer earlier this year with every intent of purchasing the Speed3. The dealer pointed out a very slightly used Speed6 (1500 mi) and offered me a test drive. I bought it without ever even driving the 3...
The 3 is faster, no question, and more agile, but lets compare apples and apples here. The 6 is a VERY room sedan, not only more than the 3, but also more than the A4 or Jetta, and it's MUCH faster than the latter two. It also has AWD, which the 3 does not. It's got a quieter, smoother ride than the 3 and its AWD will allow it to even take one off the line.
I don't race cars, so a few 1/10ths of second on the 1/4 mile is really not that important. What I got with the Speed6 is a comfortable, roomy, feature-rich, more refined car with tons of power to spare.. all for well under $30k. I'd say for someone over 25, the 6 owns. - 350Zed, on 12/16/2007, -0/+3The current MazdaSpeed6 is underwhelming vs. its competition. I hope the new one it more exciting to drive.
- VectorParamus, on 12/16/2007, -0/+3I have a 2007 madzdaspeed6, and i disagree with the poster who called the car "underwhelming". I think that the car has an understated exterior which belies the power of the engine.
- zediker, on 12/16/2007, -0/+2right, the 3/6 are around 263/273hp.. they are sweet.
- MadOgre, on 12/16/2007, -0/+2Envy that Speed3. I want one.
- kkore, on 12/16/2007, -0/+2Sweet looking car :P
- usha49, on 12/16/2007, -0/+2This make has always fascinated me. I wish I could buy it. Wonderful car.
- AeroSquid, on 12/16/2007, -1/+2yeah but the Speed 3 owns it.
- C0MF0RTABLYnumb, on 12/16/2007, -0/+1That cars dope.
- pfe001, on 12/16/2007, -0/+1I think I'd drive it
- mrjit, on 12/16/2007, -2/+3Zoom zoom!
- spiritfly, on 12/16/2007, -0/+1Looks nice, I love mazda's 6 design, I would like to see some more pictures from the new design
- Topher06, on 12/17/2007, -0/+1You mean the Accord TL because most Acruas are just rebranded Hondas. You see, if you take the Honda logo, and narrow the H at the top, you have an Acura.
- Archer, on 12/22/2007, -0/+1No argument, MadOgre. If I raced cars, the Speed6 wouldn't even have been on the menu... too much extra size and weight. As for tweaking the 6, I've begun to do that, but I'm not sure I'll ever go far enough to realize it's full potential. I'm already concerned enough about this car getting me into trouble...
- trev0006, on 04/23/2008, -0/+1The Mazda 6 looks so much better than a Honda Accord or a Toyota Camry. http://www.dpccars.com/mazda/mazda.htm http://www.discountpartcenter.com/
- MadOgre, on 12/16/2007, -0/+1That's the point. Less noticeable, means you can actually drive faster without getting pulled over.
- lexi73, on 12/16/2007, -0/+0If this happens this will for sure be my new car. Just have to hold on to my Mazdaspeed Protege until the release date! any word on release date? most likely mid 2009 to early 2010
- MadOgre, on 12/16/2007, -1/+1Its performance is above par and its build quality is top notch.... it's a very good all around car, but you are right, as a performance car is needs more balls. And by balls I mean a snarling, rabid, pissed off V-8.
- MadOgre, on 12/16/2007, -1/+1"I don't race cars, so a few 1/10ths of second on the 1/4 mile is really not that important." But I do, and it is. As far as a performance car goes, comfort is a secondary consideration. The Speed3 has a better power to weight ratio which is a plus, but it suffers from handling issues thanks to having all the weight on the front axles so you need some suspension tweaking to make it corner as it should... but even stock, it out performs the Speed6.
Now, to reverse that, there are a lot of things you can do to the 6 that you can't do to the 3 because the 3 just doesn't have the room under the bonnet for it. A tweaked 6 is something to behold. - saleh15, on 10/31/2008, -0/+0http://www.youtube.mzaeen.com/

- inactive, on 12/16/2007, -2/+1The Mazda TL, the Chevy TL ('08 Malibu), the Pontiac TL ('08 G8). Everything looks like an Acura TL.
- jamesrdorn, on 12/16/2007, -3/+2They have been selling the MazdaSpeed 6 for over a year now. I have sold a few a little more than 1 year ago when I worked at a Mazda dealer.
- ExSlashdotter, on 12/16/2007, -2/+1I wish they'd do a mazdaspeed version of the the new-style Miata/MX-5. I love mine, but it sure would be tempting...
- inactive, on 12/16/2007, -2/+1whats so special about it? if i saw it on the street i would even notice it.

haha, thanks mods - antechinus, on 12/16/2007, -9/+1If Mazda would only see fit to use decent piston quality rings then their engines might last as long as most other cars before they start to blow smoke. Mazda and Mitsubishi seem to be in a contest to see who can make their engines blow smoke the earliest.
