What seems to have happened is the cameraman saw what was coming and ran back to a safe distance without even stopping to take his camera. The car smacked into a small wall in front of the the camera shaking the tripod but not so much as to knock it over. Once the car stopped the cameraman rushed back and picked up the camera to focus it on the wreck.

In the close calls that I've had (nothing as bad as that - maybe like almost being sacked by a pile of football players on the sideline at worst.), I was so freaked and I felt so awkward that I couldn't do anything but start taking photos. In the first scene you'll notice he is positioned so that all of his body is right behind that corner.

The "man" Mewchu is referring to is the actual camera-man who filmed the video of the crash.
