        Not to mention that part of the benefit of the PIT is that it spends a lot of the cars energy in the spin.

He was a smart driver, he didn't take stupid risks and that's what ended up getting him caught. But he lived. They wouldn't of PITed when he was full open throttle, if you look they aren't even near him when he was flooring it. The police interceptor vics just have the power (250hp/300lb-ft) to catch up when they see an opportunity.

      But yeah that is some skillful driving. Mustangs aren't the most graceful cars either, stuff like that is no easy task in a car so big and heavy. Especially at highway speeds. This was not luck.

And if I was one of the cars behind them, I sure as hell would have made sure there was plenty of room once the PITs started. Probably got a little more dangerous once he switched roads, but they didn't axactly have any reason to expect that.

      If it comes to guy getting crashed by the cops vs. guy swerving through traffic at 200mph, I'll take the first option.

I think all damage to the car is then the responsibility of the thief, though I'm not sure... either way, the owner is kind of boned.

Including the possibility of the cops doing the pit on your rear bumper. First, you should get mods on the car to out run the cops. You know they are running blown over engine mods that will wipe out any 8 cylinder. Be smart. That's overrated I'm sure, most criminals are thinking about the quick scheme then actually thinking of getting away of the crime.
