- Namaha, on 02/04/2008, -1/+11It makes for an entertaining video.
- GOVATENT, on 02/04/2008, -1/+3What sounds cooler in jail, I gave up or I put up a fight. Thats how i see it. I would be the dumb one to run. Not like i have ever done anything wrong.
- frazw, on 02/04/2008, -1/+3How do you know you are gonna get caught until you've tried running?
- Lukesed, on 02/04/2008, -4/+10Is there really a way to pull it off once you have a helicopter on you? I mean maybe you drive into a huge parking complex and ditch the car but even then there is probably security camera around to get your face.
- funkytaco, on 02/04/2008, -1/+15Drive on rooftops; fire your jet engine while driving through a waterfall, maybe?
- W00DR0W, on 02/04/2008, -0/+2I've seen it happen once, this guy evaded the cops drove into a mall parking complex and didn't get caught, it was a real surprise.

- sexybobo, on 02/04/2008, -1/+1Tomj88 you are thinking of a different video. This is also an old dupe but this guy used to be a police officer that trained other officers how to do stuff like the PIT maneuver.
- purepremiumpulp, on 02/04/2008, -1/+3I really wish he wasn't driving a mustang... something faster and he could have gotten away, I wanted him to get away after moves like that

- Battousai778, on 02/04/2008, -0/+4Old, but still kick ass. i like how you can hear the people in the background kinda cheering as theyre watching
- DSGalvin, on 02/05/2008, -0/+1I remember seeing this live in OKC. The actual chase went on for like an hour.
Everyone with me really wanted him to get away.
- Protist, on 02/04/2008, -8/+60Pretty nice J-turns, actually. But I'm surprised the police used PITs at what seemed to be a rather high speed.
- GentooRiverRat, on 02/04/2008, -39/+79Why? They don't care what happens to him and if an innocent gets hurt they will blame him for it. They aren't concerned about people.
- mike17032, on 02/04/2008, -43/+26Are you that ***** stupid? Really? And the 3 other mindless diggtards that dugg you up are just as god damn retarded. I hope you are locked away somewhere that prevents you from breeding.
Ever see how these things end if the cops dont end them? They crash into someone else. Its a whole lot better to risk the life of the idiot who is breaking the law than let him smash head on into some lady driving her kids home from school.
Not to mention that part of the benefit of the PIT is that it spends a lot of the cars energy in the spin.
Not a real hard ***** choice to make.- SlyMm, on 02/04/2008, -6/+44How about just calling off the damn chase? Thats whats done in my city when things get out of hand like that, and rarely is there ever serious bodily harm to anyone. They catch em an hour later and it isn't turned into a media spectacle.
- drakenlot, on 02/04/2008, -0/+9In Toronto, the police called off a chase this weekend because the guy was going over 200kph on the 401, the main highway in the area.
The problem is, the guy's haven't been caught yet. - Ataxia2008, on 02/04/2008, -2/+1The police in your city are pussies
- drakenlot, on 02/04/2008, -0/+9In Toronto, the police called off a chase this weekend because the guy was going over 200kph on the 401, the main highway in the area.
- ChaosMotor, on 02/04/2008, -1/+64If you have a helicopter, there is NO REASON for a chase except machismo. Keep the bird on him, keep the cops at a safe distance, and when he's done moving, THAT is when you nab him. Anything else is just dick waving.
- bejayel, on 02/04/2008, -9/+3that was a news bird though, not a police one.
- centerblack, on 02/04/2008, -0/+11They're only going 100MPH because the police are chasing them.
- SlyMm, on 02/04/2008, -6/+44How about just calling off the damn chase? Thats whats done in my city when things get out of hand like that, and rarely is there ever serious bodily harm to anyone. They catch em an hour later and it isn't turned into a media spectacle.
- ANTITH3SIS, on 02/04/2008, -6/+18That's a blanket statement. Don't make generalizations about cops everywhere.
- DarkDx, on 02/04/2008, -2/+3You would be surprised if you meet the Venezuelan cops...
- joebaloney, on 02/04/2008, -1/+1By the time I finished meeting all of "the venezuelan cops" I probably wouldn't be surprised any more by whatever it is you think I would be surprised by.
- xptoast, on 02/04/2008, -1/+1They did it cause they had been chasing the guy for nearly an hour. 1 accident of a criminal instead of other accidents caused by the chase is acceptable after a period of time i would assume.
- mike17032, on 02/04/2008, -43/+26Are you that ***** stupid? Really? And the 3 other mindless diggtards that dugg you up are just as god damn retarded. I hope you are locked away somewhere that prevents you from breeding.
- Koray, on 02/04/2008, -0/+79Look how long it took him to pass that truck, he slowed down considerably going into that pass and that is when they started pitting. He was a smart driver, he didn't take stupid risks and that's what ended up getting him caught. But he lived. They wouldn't of PITed when he was full open throttle, if you look they aren't even near him when he was flooring it. The police interceptor vics just have the power (250hp/300lb-ft) to catch up when they see an opportunity.
But yeah that is some skillful driving. Mustangs aren't the most graceful cars either, stuff like that is no easy task in a car so big and heavy. Especially at highway speeds. This was not luck. - AJRiddle, on 02/04/2008, -10/+1Thats not a J-turn, its just a recovery from a spin. A J-turn is like a fancy U-turn, if he did do one he would have changed directions
- MarvinGalaxy, on 02/04/2008, -1/+12He DID change directions. The cops spun him backwards and he did J-turns to get going forward again. The guy was an idiot, but he did have skill.
- mike17032, on 02/04/2008, -3/+11No, a J turn is when you are going backwards and spin the car around without losing much speed and start going forward. You continue on the same direction of travel, its nothing like a U turn.
And a J turn is exactly what he used once he had started moving backwards.- capiCrimm, on 02/04/2008, -2/+1your right, what he did was a bootleg turn.
- LMaxey, on 02/04/2008, -1/+1A bootleg turn is when you're headed in one direction and you whip the car around 180 degrees very quickly and head in the opposite direction. People running from the cops used it during Prohibition because their modified cars were far more advanced than the police cruisers of the time.
- Scottie22, on 02/11/2008, -0/+0Congrats, you just decribed a J-Turn.
- capiCrimm, on 02/04/2008, -2/+1your right, what he did was a bootleg turn.
- birdly, on 02/04/2008, -1/+2I bet the cops had SCMATS
- sphigel, on 02/04/2008, -0/+2I believe its SCMODS. State county municipal offender data system. Don't know why i remembered that.
- SeventhSon, on 02/04/2008, -0/+1Probably from The Blues Brothers.
- Cmstech, on 02/04/2008, -0/+2I think he really did mean "SCMATS"
"Scary Cop Mandated Awesome Taser System"
- sphigel, on 02/04/2008, -0/+2I believe its SCMODS. State county municipal offender data system. Don't know why i remembered that.
- theblt, on 02/04/2008, -1/+9Isn't half the reason the PIT maneuvers didn't work because this was a manual-transmission car? Just hit the clutch when he started spinning so it doesn't stall out? Granted he did some good spin work to reorient the Mustang.
- ldailey06, on 02/04/2008, -0/+0from whats visible the road seemed clear so they probably went for it
- GentooRiverRat, on 02/04/2008, -39/+79Why? They don't care what happens to him and if an innocent gets hurt they will blame him for it. They aren't concerned about people.

- a1532b, on 02/04/2008, -1/+3Dwight? Is that you, Mr Schrute?
- SquigglyP, on 02/04/2008, -5/+1Yeah, they seem to look up to the jackass who was running, like he had some bad-ass driving skills. Ask the guy now and I bet he'd tell you he wish he'd never done it. You'd probably have to ask him in prison tho. There's at least 4 felony charges in this vid, not including the fact that it was a stolen vehicle. Look cool for five minutes. Spend next 20 years of your life in prison. Bad trade.
- drakenlot, on 02/04/2008, -1/+2He'd prolly say he wouldn't do it, because he met some guy named Big Paulie in jail. Now he can't sit properly.

"How...how are you calling me?" I asked.
"I don't...I don't know," the year replied.
A pregnant silence permeated the room as I stared into the off-white mouthpiece of my cordless phone. A year...a year in time...was calling me. I could hear the breath of the epoch as he perhaps gathered his thoughts or waited for an awkward continuance of our brief discussion. - Knucklecallus, on 02/04/2008, -1/+3Live coverage of police chases encourages idiots? Really? Because I seem to recollect that almost every police chase I have seen, either on the boobtube or the intertubes, ends with the suspect being taken into custody. That doesn't seem to be very encouraging

Car chases here last maybe ten blocks at most. - FKnight, on 02/04/2008, -0/+1Well, if all of the shows on TV like "Super Scary Police Chases 10" and "Outrageously Horrendous Police Highway Chases Gone Wrong 6 Caught on Tape" are any indication, just about every major city has police chases like this that, oddly, are being covered by the same exact reporter, no matter what city it is.
- hammer310, on 02/04/2008, -26/+126Anyone else think that the police were wrong here? They could have hurt people by sideswiping him like that.
- AndyStitzer, on 02/04/2008, -9/+25Yea. It seems really dangerous to wreck someone on the highway when there is so much traffic.
- dvsbastard, on 02/04/2008, -6/+46There is a little bit more to the PIT maneuver than just sideswiping a speeding car... and when done correctly it is relatively safer than allowing them to continue down the freeway at some ridiculous speed...
- makkaveli19, on 02/04/2008, -0/+7well in canada they don't chase you, they are suposed to let you go. IF you seem to be running red light and can be dangerous.. they just call for back up to intercept further down.
- drakenlot, on 02/04/2008, -0/+1true enough.
the problem with it is, like this weekend, they may not find the guy again.- makkaveli19, on 02/04/2008, -0/+1big deal. an accident could take innocent lives. it's not worth putting their lives in danger for person who 'Might" be guilty. we would rather have a "criminal" get away than innocent people die. also pit maneuvers are illegal in canada.
- drakenlot, on 02/05/2008, -0/+2You read the Toronto news though? The guy who got away shot someone in the head, stole his car, robbed multiple stores, and escaped going over 200K on the 401.
Pretty sure he's guilty.
Also, I never knew PIT was illegal here, kinda surprising with how useful they can be if used correctly. - makkaveli19, on 02/06/2008, -0/+1well i'm from vancouver, i know for a fact that it's illegal (brother is a cop). but dark this is a one time thing, imagine a person runs a red light and kills other drivers and pedestrians. this would happen more often that someone who is a murder. you have to take consideration that roads are already dangerous enough. isn't driving 1 cause for deaths in teenagers or something?
i dugg you up btw :)

- DivisibleByZero, on 02/04/2008, -4/+13They had a pretty good amount of distance between them and the traffic behind them. And if I was one of the cars behind them, I sure as hell would have made sure there was plenty of room once the PITs started. Probably got a little more dangerous once he switched roads, but they didn't axactly have any reason to expect that.
If it comes to guy getting crashed by the cops vs. guy swerving through traffic at 200mph, I'll take the first option. - crazzy88ss, on 02/04/2008, -1/+6You can't see down road. When ever they did it, there was no cars around.
- mike17032, on 02/04/2008, -19/+14No one with a brain thinks that (ya that rules out most of digg). Ever see how most crashes end? When the person slams into someone heading home from work.

- centerblack, on 02/04/2008, -0/+5The guy is driving fast to get away from the police. So they chase the guy, put peoples lives at risk, AND wreck the car?
You're not being honest with yourself about what you think is most important.
- ungamedplayer, on 02/04/2008, -2/+6No, one thing i've learned is that some people, as individuals are not worth *****.
The problem is, other people on the road could be worth saving, not the idiot stealing the car. - topace3000, on 02/04/2008, -0/+9Yeah man those crazy cops should have stepped back here, way out of line trying to catch a criminal and everything.
- Phyltre, on 02/05/2008, -0/+1Actually, YES. They run so fast because they're being chased so fast. ...Why chase when you've got a helicopter watching their every move?
- Divals, on 02/04/2008, -0/+1If your car is stolen and the police destroy it catching the thief, they generally consider it acceptable so long as the guy is caught. I think all damage to the car is then the responsibility of the thief, though I'm not sure... either way, the owner is kind of boned.
- rohanch, on 02/04/2008, -0/+2They don't (never?) try and stop cars in this way in the UK because it can be too dangerous to other traffic and the driver.

http://www.realghostvideos.net/hosted/5/a-real-gho ... - r4agreements, on 02/04/2008, -12/+4I'm sorry the pit maneuver is *****, if your a criminal you need to think out all aspects of the crime. Including the possibility of the cops doing the pit on your rear bumper. First, you should get mods on the car to out run the cops. You know they are running blown over engine mods that will wipe out any 8 cylinder. Be smart. That's overrated I'm sure, most criminals are thinking about the quick scheme then actually thinking of getting away of the crime. If your going to commit a crime you need to invest the time, otherwise your asking to be caught. Darwinism at its finest I'm sure.
- discofreak, on 02/04/2008, -1/+4i'm pretty sure the most extensive engine mods to Police Interceptors (of any variety) are beefy transmissions, heavy-duty cooling systems and bigger oil sumps.

- omegaredIX, on 02/04/2008, -0/+1um cop cars are pretty damn pricey. They have to keep up with speeds of people on the road so will already be able to keep up. Im sure in places like europe cops drive porches and ferraris and the like.

- bingobongony, on 02/04/2008, -1/+4It is a guy who either drove between the posts of a fence that was not secured to the ground, or who drove over a fence and the posts popped back up. Nothing to see here.
- AlienMushroom, on 02/21/2008, -4/+9In just two years, the quality of this video has gone from fair to just "watchable".
- AlienMushroom, on 02/21/2008, -3/+4OK fine, just bury me, but it can't change the fact that someone lives under the rock homepaged this video.
- jabberwolf, on 02/04/2008, -11/+3Very good lesson in not over steering when recovering.
But also a very very very good lesson on how to almost get your ass shot off by police who are tired of playing a video game. At that point, they would have a pretty good argument in laying down some lead through the windshield. Sorry liberals but the tape shows "just cause" to put away a danger to society that could possibly drive away again.- INTERNETMASTER, on 02/04/2008, -0/+2librulls! *shakes fist*
- middy, on 02/04/2008, -1/+14Just like in GTA; if you hit the cement barricade backwards, you're toast. Keep your speed up!
And also; doing the spin out maneuver... who exactly is responsible if the perp goes careening into four lanes of oncoming traffic?- charliecharlos, on 02/04/2008, -0/+8Actually, the guy running from the law. Any person that is hurt or killed due to your pursuit or during such pursuit, is an added charge.
- sphigel, on 02/04/2008, -0/+1It seems like they should have given him some distance considering they had a helicopter on him. Of course it was probably just a news helicopter and they might not have had communication with it.
- blackmesa, on 02/04/2008, -0/+5You can even be found guilty of murder/manslaughter if a cop shoots at you and hits a bystander. (that is, as long as his shot at you was justified)

- Jason4000, on 02/04/2008, -0/+9reminds me of some good old fashion winter driving.
- joyousgard, on 02/04/2008, -2/+2See, in driving school, when they tell you to "turn in to the skid", they're telling the truth!
- Pahtcub, on 02/04/2008, -0/+8I say neither, he still got busted, kinda like when you grab an officer's gun; yeah you look cool, but about 40 seconds later you're dead.
- mhnatt, on 02/04/2008, -1/+38The driver got 5 years but was out in 6 mos - but he likes the video and still thinks it was worth it.
- ifirahse, on 02/04/2008, -5/+8I would go to jail for 6 months for the bragging rights to that video.
- Lane, on 02/04/2008, -1/+18You haven't been to jail have you?..
- atmenterprises, on 02/04/2008, -0/+3Prison Mike said it was bad.
- Lane, on 02/04/2008, -1/+18You haven't been to jail have you?..
- deathdefyer, on 02/04/2008, -0/+4How do you know he got 5 years and out in 6? I honestly want to know more about this...
- Rocketbird, on 02/04/2008, -0/+2It happens a lot, but varies by state. I know in Colorado you get out after about half your sentence for good behavior (assuming it's not life). It was probably something like 1 year in prison, 2 years parole, 2 years probation.

- CanTheSpam, on 02/04/2008, -0/+5Luck or Skill? This is how you ensure a good beat-down from the cops!
- binhcan, on 02/04/2008, -0/+1Yes, 10 cops beat 1 person, so unfair. If that's in China 1 cop should beat 10 guys.
