- smartcause, on 09/08/2008, -4/+61Switching to selling Smart Cars = I like him.
That picture = I want to punch him in the face. - shutaro, on 09/09/2008, -1/+31Forget cars, I want jewelry that spells things...
- Lula87, on 09/09/2008, -9/+37This douchebag doesn't care ***** for the environment. It's all about where the market is.
No one wants a Hummer anymore because you look like an ass when you are seen driving one. - thedogfatherx, on 09/09/2008, -4/+27So whats wrong with that? He is a smart business man.
- dha07030, on 09/09/2008, -1/+24Who the ***** would buy a car from that guy?
- oxymoron69, on 09/08/2008, -4/+22Hmm, good to see this guys tv career worked out well.
- inactive, on 09/08/2008, -2/+19He was saddened that it didnt work out. The bottom line is that $4+ a gallon doesnt work in sin city when a vehicle only gets 8 miles per gallon.
- inactive, on 09/09/2008, -4/+20The Hummer is a gimmicky vehicle.
Regardless of gas prices, it's time has passed. - sleestakslayer, on 09/09/2008, -0/+14King of Cars?
How about King of Douchebags. What a tool. - MonkeyMCSE, on 09/09/2008, -1/+14Morons, that's who. I live here in Vegas, and I see this guy all the time driving around in his El Dorado looking like a giant douchebag. Know plenty of people who have purchased cars from his dealership, or should I say his dad's dealership. Three people so far have mentioned that they've had to go and resign papers at a higher car payment because they believed that they messed up on the paperwork. It seems out of the 5 people who have purchased from him 3 signed and 2 of them said that they'll just bring the car back as the contract was signed they have to abide by it. I admit, I looked at their lot when I purchased my charger, went down the street and got a better deal, even saw the Blue Genie who is a douche all in his own.
- nesagwa, on 09/09/2008, -2/+13Hey I heard that commercial too.
- cadmiumpaint, on 09/09/2008, -1/+12King of douche nozzles.
someone should tell him that he's not gangster...he's just rich white trash who's daddy gave him a car dealership. - TexasShiv, on 09/09/2008, -9/+20This show makes me DESPISE car salesmen even more...
- aekdbbop, on 09/09/2008, -4/+15much rather have a mini.
- norman619, on 09/09/2008, -7/+18Are you the cute little car NAZI? Anyone shoule feel free to drive whatever vehicle they like. Screw you if you can't accept that. Your envy is amazing.
- EndouOuto, on 09/09/2008, -1/+10Smart cars EPA estimates are 33/41. Not good enough
for such a small car. My old civic gets close to that and
it's much bigger. - WhoDoneIt, on 09/09/2008, -2/+10You get charged for following too close and your insurance rates go up. Kill someone and you might be looking at vehicular manslaughter. Who's the smart one now?
- BlackJackJester, on 09/09/2008, -1/+9I hate smart cars. Not because they're good mileage or odd design. I hate them because they are a failure at what they are trying to do. It's a 4 cylinder gas engine that gets a measly 42 mpg.... Why do I say measly? My old '99 Saturn SC2 got 38 mpg, and it had back seats and a good sized trunk, with decent pickup and didn't look too bad either. When you buy a smart car, you're getting half a car, with barely better mileage than a full car. I don't see any reason it shouldn't get 50+ mpg.
- Timpala, on 09/09/2008, -2/+9I at least hope that this guy accidentally exposed the filthy tactics that he and the salesmen used to push huge debt onto stupid consumers. I vowed to never buy from a car lot again.
- andyb747, on 09/09/2008, -2/+9I wikied 'douche bag' and that same photo came up !
- ATLien74, on 09/09/2008, -1/+8My aunt and uncle have a Prius, and he is really anal about checking his mpg. He get's 35mpg average with a mix of highway and city. The diesel VW gets 40. If I was shopping for a fuel efficient car, I'd get a VW with the diesel engine. Prius is over hyped (and looks lame).
- omelette, on 09/09/2008, -0/+7C'mon now, not "always". I consider my opinions to lean pretty far to the left but I drive a full-sized pickup truck... and usually about 10 mph over the limit.
- BoneStamp, on 09/09/2008, -1/+7The Prius is supposed to get 60 (EPA), but if you read on some Toyota forums the reality for most people is much different.
- limeyTart, on 09/09/2008, -5/+11Just doing that now? GM who themselves are 2 years behind the market announced they were looking to offload the Hummer brand around 2 months ago... unless people have still been purchasing them, I'd say his business strategy is a little sllooooooooowww
- internetcoward, on 09/09/2008, -3/+9I love how people are hating on the guy like they aren't supposed to. This guy is a douche and that's the idea.
- PabloMac, on 09/09/2008, -1/+7Hummer drivers don't insult your Birkenstocks, or your tie-dye shirt, or your dreadlocks, or your granola bar, do they?
- BXRWXR, on 09/09/2008, -2/+8Hint: GM Car commercials don't count.
- Eliminator, on 09/09/2008, -0/+6I think it might be more models. Chevy, Saturn, and Pontiac all have cars over 30. That adds up to a lot of "separate" models.
- oldhick, on 09/09/2008, -4/+9Does someone have a little case of Hummer envy? Cause cool looking is NOT how you describe people in Smart Cars.
But then again, coolness really isn't derived from your vehicle. Grow up Lula87. - nesagwa, on 09/09/2008, -0/+535-45 on pure gas.
Id expect a hybrid to get a lot more than 60.
Plus theres the cost difference here.
12k-15k vs. 22k-25k. - centran, on 09/09/2008, -1/+6You obviously never knew about this dealership or watched the show. It is all a persona and for show. Before the A&E show they did a late night infomercial that had a whole bunch of weird characters(who where salesmen) and it was just a big show. People would come buy cars from him merely for the "show" they put on and becuase of the characters in the infomercial.
- FairDinkumMate, on 09/09/2008, -1/+6@FrankTheTank - Source(s)?
"GM produces more vehicles with 30+ mpg than any other car company"
What's missing in this 'fact'? Do they REALLY produce more vehicles like this, or just in the USA? Is this % or straight numbers? Is this distorted by the word 'produce' because other companies import some 30+ mpg cars?
Please provide some source(s) & detail to support what seems to be quite an outlandish statement. - norman619, on 09/09/2008, -6/+11The Eco-Nazi's fail to understand there actually is a market for SUV's and there will continue to be one. Notice how they are making hybrid SUV's? I love my SUV. I can't haul the stuff I do with my SUV in a car let alone one of those tiny Eco-cars.
- BoneStamp, on 09/09/2008, -0/+5He's just following the market, which did a 180.
- Akairenn, on 09/09/2008, -0/+5http://www.mediazine.net/view/family_guy_hummer_dr ...
- aolshove, on 09/09/2008, -0/+5Smart Car - The new gangst'a ride.
- norman619, on 09/09/2008, -2/+6Those aren't cars. They are mobile coffins.
- bigteebo, on 09/09/2008, -0/+4Somehow I can't picture gangstas, but sadly, they are still there in the year 2008.
Really, America needs to get over the machismo "bigger vehicle = bigger person" status symbol game we've been playing since the 1950s. Sure, if we didn't care about what we looked like, there would be no fashion industry. But gas prices & such is creeping up on such things. - thedogfatherx, on 09/09/2008, -0/+4People in Las Vegas. Come on! He fits right in!
- bromac, on 09/09/2008, -2/+6If you compare it to a Ford Explorer, another SUV whose chassis is actually the same class as the Hummer (which is built off the Tahoe platform).
And I'm guessing that your $300/year more figure only takes into account low-milage city driving. I bet that the vehicle would use much more in work-use or long distance driving. One roadtrip (towing a big boat, probably), would eat that $300 pretty quick.
Besides, you'd have to be an idiot to pay $300/year more in gas for NO added functionality over comparable offerings. Just get a GMC/Chevy Sierra/Silverado TRUCK if you just have to drive something huge, at least you won't look like a poseur and you can get some actual work done. - barc0001, on 09/09/2008, -0/+4You buy steaming bags of *****?
- MasteRR, on 09/09/2008, -0/+4Okay Class, given the current price of fuel, raise your hand if you are at all surprised by this news. Okay, I see... yeah... none. Wait. Timmy, stop giggalling and put down your hand.
- WoollyMittens, on 09/09/2008, -0/+4He could sell them from the back of a hummer.
- BoneStamp, on 09/09/2008, -1/+5He's sad because the gross margin on a HUMMER is probably $6000-8000 more than it is on a smart car. BTW, if you talk to owners, the average 12-13 mpg city... costs about $300/year more (in gas) than owning a Ford Explorer for the average driver.
- stubarwick, on 09/09/2008, -0/+4Look I'm all for more fuel efficiency... but who the hell buys a car from this guy?
- omelette, on 09/09/2008, -0/+4Not really. He's been following the money all along. When the next fad comes along he'll rotate product again.
- bindermichi, on 09/09/2008, -1/+5Nope, I could pay for two. But I'm not that stupid to buy a US SUV.
- billbugger, on 09/09/2008, -0/+4***** the Hummer, it's all about the Canyoniero!!
- FearFactory, on 09/09/2008, -1/+5People still pimp them around my area, loaded with all the chrome accessories and spinnaz. They never seem to go faster than 35MPH though.
- chrissku, on 09/09/2008, -4/+8Hummer = *****
