- ThatsNotPudding, on 03/20/2009, -1/+38I wonder if Jeremy Clarkson will risk his neck for another go-round.
- AprylBreeze, on 03/20/2009, -7/+22best super car under 100k....or maybe the only super car under 100k.... freaking japanese. I'm sure when they get military freedom, we'll see real life Gundam fighter jets and Voltron superbots.....
- Snakedal337, on 03/21/2009, -1/+14That car is smokin hot. I await the day I can move on from my dead end retail job and afford it.
- IHaveCrayons, on 03/21/2009, -1/+10I think it looks very attractive, maybe Americans have different taste in style. There's always the Corvette.
- Arkz, on 03/21/2009, -0/+7Heresy! its beautiful!
- MaxxusFlamus, on 03/21/2009, -1/+8Both are great looking cars on the outside. But dear god...the inside of the corvette needs desperate work.
- Mykii, on 03/21/2009, -1/+7"...better buy for__pure speed__"
What about everything else? Cornering etc.
Needless to say, i dugg both of you up. It's true. There are other choices under 100k, its just i feel for the money you pay the GT-R is the most versatile of what's available. - JBrown99, on 03/21/2009, -0/+5I'm an American, and I love how the GTR looks (and the 370Z). I also love the styling of the Corvette, though.
- tgc1, on 03/21/2009, -0/+4I agree. The Corvette is nice. As is the GTR (i'm tend to side with imports myself). But yeah, the corvette needs to get with the program in the interior as well as fit and finish category. That whole pushy-plastic-bumper thing on the rear of the car is ridiculous.
- Entroper, on 03/21/2009, -0/+3The R33 and R34 used the inline-6 RB26DETT, yes. The R35 uses an engine similar to the VQ-series currently used in the 370Z and G37: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_VR_engine
- Macintoshreader, on 03/21/2009, -3/+6@JBrown: The ZR1 costs $125,000. I don't see how that's "under 100k."
- randall814, on 03/21/2009, -0/+3The R34's RB26DETT was an inline 6, but the R35 is indeed a V6.
- Macintoshreader, on 03/21/2009, -1/+4I think it looks great. Don't post your opinion as if it were fact, because it's not.
- sleepless, on 03/21/2009, -0/+3For the true GTR enthusiasts, it was never really about the looks. It has always been its performance.
- inactive, on 03/21/2009, -0/+2Uh, which story, exactly, did you intend to reply to?
- diggmeordie, on 03/21/2009, -0/+2So then explain why the z06 and zr1 destroy the all wheel drive GT-R in slalom and race tracks on stock RUN FLATS and still pulls 24 mpg on the highway versus 21 mpg for the GT-R. You clearly no nothing about performance cars and are an obviously ignorant fan boy.
- SirVantes, on 03/21/2009, -0/+2If all you care about is pure speed you can get cars that are a hell of a lot faster and cheaper than the ZR1 and ACR.
- Arkz, on 03/21/2009, -0/+2The GT-R gives me wood!
ok
it doesn't, but it is beautiful
oh and that site has a damn lot of scripts trying to run from outside sources... NoScript FTW - JBrown99, on 03/21/2009, -0/+2@Macintoshreader: Where are you getting that price from? It's starting price is $105,000. Which, if you're spending $100,000 already, is close enough.
- zxxxt, on 03/21/2009, -0/+1Wow only .1 second difference from launching 4.5k to 3k rpm? I wonder which supercar can do a 3k launch and still do 0 to 60 in 3.4 seconds.
- inactive, on 03/21/2009, -1/+2@Jbrown: Under 80k or GTFO. The GTR base MSRP is $76,840. That's nowhere near 100k or even 105k for the ZR1.
When you're comparing "bargain" supercars, numbers matter, and that includes the price. - Phych, on 03/21/2009, -0/+1I have a hard on.
- PeterHerme, on 09/28/2009, -0/+1My next car!
- molamann, on 03/21/2009, -0/+1Huh? The R34 tops the sexiest vehicle of all time in my book. Very disappointed by the R35 however.
- molamann, on 03/21/2009, -0/+1You wouldn't say that if you actually saw one in person. GT-R and the 370Z are really unphotogenic.
- jman583, on 03/21/2009, -0/+1"The first car of it's kind that can outrun godzilla"
- newsgaze, on 09/14/2009, -0/+1Nissan Motor India is all set to launch two updated versions of its Nissan X-Trail and Teana models into the Indian market. It is still not clear when Nissan will launch the mid segment cheaper cars for the Indian market.
These two new versions are likely to be launched on September 16, 2009 by Mr. Kiminobu Tokuyama, Managing Director & CEO, Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd. -

"Explain why chevy uses a 80+ y/o design for their engine."
-Said design produces more power with less weight and better fuel efficiency. It just has a larger displacement for the same power, but since cars in the US aren't taxed based on displacement, this is not an issue.
"Explain why a 6 cylinder is even a contender against "such an amazing engine" @3836lb's and keeps up with it in the slalom vs corvette's 3180lb?"
-You are comparing Apples to Oranges. The 6 cylinder is boosted while the Z06 is not. - inactive, on 03/21/2009, -0/+1I've already seen several of these on the road. . .not exactly breaking news, but definitely a sweet ass car
- inactive, on 03/21/2009, -0/+1The R34 was no beauty queen either. I like the design personally, it looks distinctive and is a real head turner. There are a number of GTRs driving around where I live in Dallas, and my wife always points them out and asks what kind of car they are. They stick out from the crowd, which some people might see as a good thing.
The nicest one I've seen is silver, the $3000 option that requires 7 layers of wet sanding by hand at the factory, and includes a double layer of clear coat. It's the most incredible production paint job I've ever seen. - umanchik, on 03/22/2009, -0/+1Cant wait to take the ride
- rsbryswrrl, on 03/21/2009, -0/+1Somehow that thing pulls off the "old school" and "modern" looks at the same time. 485 bhp? They didn't mention the torque stats though :( I still like the Audi R8 better...
- Remy47, on 03/21/2009, -0/+1yep yep
- scarlettletter, on 03/21/2009, -0/+1Fast cars and rock and roll! Only if I had money, bus seems to be the only form of transportation lately!
- jamezracer, on 03/21/2009, -0/+1i think he would if nissan changed something besides the launch control and some suspension tweaks. They already did 2 episodes featuring it, I think it's had enough of a shakedown.
- randall814, on 03/21/2009, -1/+1If you believe EPA gas mileage ratings, you're a ***** clown.
- JBrown99, on 03/21/2009, -3/+3I guess I should have clarified "pure speed" - it's pretty vague. But seeing as how the ZR1 and ACR beat the GTR's Nurburgring time, I think it's obvious that they are the faster cars for the track.
- Virgule, on 03/21/2009, -1/+1V6 ? Was it not a L6 ?
- Arkz, on 03/21/2009, -1/+1STAAATIOOOOON!!
- rpsindia, on 03/21/2009, -3/+3that's another example of japan's technology
- achilles3, on 03/21/2009, -0/+0What a beautie!
- JBrown99, on 03/21/2009, -8/+7Love how you're getting buried when you speak the truth. And this is coming from a huge Nissan fan. Viper (ACR), Corvette (ZR1), and M6 are all at or under 100k. As much as I love the GTR, the ZR1 and ACR is the better buy for pure speed.
- Jahallah, on 03/23/2009, -0/+0@knowitman
you are completely missing my point. all I am saying is that they could have used the R&D money better. In my opinion.
C'mon, a pushrod?!?!?! Welcome to the 21st century, we have overhead cams and electronically mixed fuel/air ratios with variable valve timing.
Just study the s-line audi motor, hickups or not, those things are way more efficient throughout the power band (dismissing the enourmous weight of the vehicle) - inactive, on 03/21/2009, -1/+1The Z06 has nothing on the GTR's performance numbers. The ZR1 is slightly faster in many instances, however, you step into a much different bracket when it comes to comfort, fit and finish, everyday driving practicality, price, etc. ZR1 to GTR isn't a fair comparison. With a ~$76k price tag for the GTR vs. a ~$118k price tag for a ZR1, you might as well compare a Honda Fit to a base level Corvette.
- daskitso, on 03/21/2009, -1/+0The article was abnormally honest. I like that. It's better under the hood and chassy, but still looks the same old style.
- Jahallah, on 03/21/2009, -5/+4I think the people who are (on youtube) trying to defend a sports car (corvette) with pushrod style engine and a LEAF suspension (albeit a neat one, but leaf none-the-less) against a car with the pinnacle of technology (Skyline GTR) are insane. Not to mention practicality, the corvette is about as practical and fuel efficient as a hummer. There is a lot of R&D in the Corvette, the Chevy Factory race team has no doubt proven themselves on the track as well. The issue I have with them is that they are not spending the money well. The Volt is a re-hash of what toyota and honda and even Chevy (EV-1) have done already. This is why they are filing bankruptcy. And thank god. I feel sorry for the people that work in their factories, and i know people that work at their dealerships (former one myself) But Chevy and ford and especially chrysler aren't doing enough to promote alternative energy. Watch a movie called "Who killed the electric car" a movie about how chevy developed a great car and squashed for political reasons(oil and gas company). Sad event.
Anyway, this car is amazing, Nissan should ALSO be doing more to promote alternative powered transportation. But I love my nissan. I hope to own an alternative powered 3.4-3.5 second car someday cause the Tesla there yet. But this one will do for now. - Jahallah, on 03/21/2009, -3/+1Explain why chevy uses a 80+ y/o design for their engine.
Explain why a 6 cylinder is even a contender against "such an amazing engine" @3836lb's and keeps up with it in the slalom vs corvette's 3180lb?
What they did with a pushrod is amazing, but what they could do with newer technology would be even more amazing, right?
The ZR-1 = a whimsical Rick Wagner wondering if that's what you get with 60k how bout a hundred?
And BTW, i ignore nothing as i have a nissan and grew up with corvettes all my life. As a matter of fact, I am more of a converted VETTE fan. So, sorry brother, vettes are impractical. Wait til the technology gets better and that 6cyl will blow that 8cyl pushrod away. Not just on the track either. Cause everyone saw the road and track review where the z06 had complaints about that much power being hard to control in the corners. Not talking about stupid drag times. -
